Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

I was going to go for a walk, but it has chucked it down all day. In the five minutes it was clear our neighbour knocked to tell us that another neighbour is in hospital with multiple organ failure. He'd been shielding with terminal cancer and had been desperate for a walk. So his last walk will have been into hospital.Sad

speakout · 07/06/2020 17:35

First world problem.

soruff · 07/06/2020 17:39

Bored bored bored! I know what you mean.
DH craving to go to a pub. Usually I doubt he goes for a drink more than 12 times a year.
I am reading some books that I had put in a box to go to a charity shop.
"Venetia" is surely the most boring book that Georgette Heyer ever wrote. I usually like her books.

LHMBF · 07/06/2020 17:40

Omg thank you for this thread, I feel completely the same

Guineapigbridge · 07/06/2020 17:41

I like walks. I do not like them when the only reason I'm going is to drag my reluctant children out. I want a brisk walk up a hill not a slow walk listening to whining.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/06/2020 17:42

I love a walk but this lockdown has made me realise that previously they always ended up in a pub Smile

justmyview · 07/06/2020 17:42

You nearly exactly what I meant, but as you are choosing to be pedantic would property suit you better

To be fair I read it the same way and thought you'd kept them indoors since March 20th

Yes, I thought that too. Poster said "They have not left the house once since March 20th". Huge sympathy for health issues and hope they stay safe and well, but it wasn't clear that the children had been able to go in the garden

IdblowJonSnow · 07/06/2020 17:43

I love walking! One of the few things keeping me going! Try some new areas?
But yabu, it's all very monotonous. You're allowed to feel bored whilst acknowledging your blessings I guess!

Longdistance · 07/06/2020 17:45

I went for a 5 mile very hilly walk yesterday with dds and dh. I always go to a pub after. It put a dampener on it ☹️

JustC · 07/06/2020 17:46

I mean YANBU to be fed up with walks. But is anyone making you to take walks? It's all getting boring now. I have started posting on MN out of boredom with usual crap, after lurking for a couple of years with no account 😁 Also, gin and wine help 😅

Purpleartichoke · 07/06/2020 17:47

There is plenty to fill your days. You can do the same types of things I have done my entire life to give it spice and meaning.

Make some art.
Learn a language.
Take an online course.
Pick up a new instrument.

I'm pretty happy in my own company, but bored now. I want structure back. Oh, and the swimming pool. It's tipped down here with rain for 3 days, and not that nice trying to walk anywhere.

Scoobandlaurs · 07/06/2020 17:52

Would love to go for a walk having been stuck in a wheelchair looking at sameblank wall for 3years. Even out the house would be good had enough

80sMum · 07/06/2020 17:54

Walking was my main source of entertainment before the lockdown so nothing much has changed for me! Pubs and restaurants are OK every now and then, but I wouldn't especially miss them if they never reopened. Shock.

Mind you, I would have to get used to the inconvenience of not being able to stop for some fast food when out and about. It would be like going back in time 40 years to the days when no such thing existed (or even if did, we couldn't afford it).

scheffsm · 07/06/2020 17:57

You can spice up the walks by letting your mind wander off into a fantasy. I often do this. You tell yourself any kind of outlandish story - a romance, something with you as the hero, anything really - and while walking you refine your story. You improve the dialogue. Improve the features of the love interest. Whatever.
I've developed this technique over several years of long-distance trekking. When it gets hard or tedious I'll start up my in-brain cinema.
I've found it useful during Corona. I'm in another country which is out of lockdown now but at the beginning of lockdown we were only allowed out for walks in the immediate vicinity and it would have been boring without the stories in my head.

Topseyt · 07/06/2020 18:05

I feel the same, and having had two dogs up until recently I am well used to walking, sometimes for hours every day and am familiar with many local and not so local routes.

I’ve enjoyed walking much less since the death of my elderly labrador last November. I was just beginning to heal a bit from that and enjoy it again but then lockdown happened and I have retreated back into my shell. I feel like the world around us has ceased functioning and I have lost a lot of my motivation.

I want and need to have an end in sight although I am concerned that there may be a second spike.

I do take some pleasure in seeing the limited reopenings, but it could yet go backwards again.

I’m not a big socialiser, but what I want most of all is choice back. The choice to go into a town centre (usually on my own), quietly browse the shops and maybe have my lunch in a favourite café or coffee shop.

That’s all I want. I didn’t realise how important it was to me until that choice was gone. I’ll certainly never take so much for granted again.

We’d love a holiday soon, but that still isn’t a realistic option this year, so we wait.

Kljnmw3459 · 07/06/2020 18:13

I just want to see my family and friends abroad. I want my kids to be able to play with their friends without worrying about spreading the virus. I want to pop to the shop whenever I want with or without kids. Lets us go to the playground! Not everyone has a garden! Fwiw, I fully understand the reason why we can't but still.....

IndiaMay · 07/06/2020 18:15

I dont really walk loads. When it was sunny we were picnicking in the park every lunch time and that was enjoyable. Now I'm running a few times a week but mostly im home or shopping. Poundland, dunelm, decathlon, pets at home, savers. Every day is different!

Seriously though, I get it. Today has been one of the most down days for me. There is just nothing to do and nothing to look forward to

Cornishclio · 07/06/2020 18:16

I love walking and normally walk with groups twice a week and do a section of the coast path on my own. Since lockdown I was just doing local walks which was getting boring even though we live fairly rural so lots of fields but have now restarted my coastal walking which means a 20 minute drive. Can you do a walk further afield so it is different surroundings now you can drive for exercise? Lots of national trust places open now with booking system.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/06/2020 18:21

Yep. Totally fed up. I've done a lot of canvassing in this area as well so I know every single street. Nothing new to look at.

Cornishclio · 07/06/2020 18:22

I don't really get why the toilets are not open at beauty spots and beaches. Surely it makes sense if people are using the beach that the facilities are left open. They can still be cleaned as normal and people use sanitiser and/ or wash their hands as usual and touch as little as possible. If they are closed it poses a health risk as people just go in the sea or on the beach. Or we should have been told to stay local.

Rhiannon13 · 07/06/2020 18:23

No YANBU OP. Fucking sick of the whole thing.

Dilovescake21 · 07/06/2020 18:28

So bored of walking as a way to pass the time. I am lucky to live in a town which is safe and has plenty of trees etc but God I'm so bored of looking at the same streets. I really think I'm going bonkers.

Ickabog · 07/06/2020 18:32

but God I'm so bored of looking at the same streets.

This resonates with me so much. I noticed someone 3 streets away had painted their front door the other day. I should not be that familiar with the local area that I notice such mundane things.

bigchris · 07/06/2020 18:35

I go for long walks , always have

Hate the judgy dog owners looking at you suspiciously because you're walking without a dog and alone

I work full time outside the house though so no time to get bored, still doing usual weekend walks

What I am bored of coming home to my teens miserable looking faces Grin they need school, structure, friends and things to do !
