Because there is literally nothing else to do?

I am very lucky. Got a secure job, roof over my head, family safe and well etc. I shouldn't moan.

But everything that gives life salt, spice, flavour has been taken away and it is so depressing.

I want everyone to be safe , I have followed all the rules . I think the only answer is a time machine!

I am just so sad. I don't know how we will ever regain normal.

I walk anyway. I'm sick of all the extra walkers in the private woodland etc where I live, dropping rubbish and dogs off lead threatening wildlife. I do miss a mooch around the shops especially charity ones.
But I'm back at work now so will appreciate the walks more now they are less. A day off today and about to set off so am really looking forward to it
But I won't be driving to places I used to go to like the sea or Avebury etc and I miss all that

Leflic · 07/06/2020 16:51

I was bored of them before lockdown
I’ve lived in the same place for years. Many of those years I didn’t have a car. Then I got dogs which needed long walks ( deceased now)
It feels like I have walked everywhere within a 15 mile radius on a loop forever
I’ve not walked anywhere in lockdown because frankly the amount of people doing earnest walking photographing themselves with a view, posting on Facebook with “ I never knew this place existed ” was maddening.

I am looking forward to going back to work. I might appreciate them again.

I love walking and have walked an average of 65 miles a week since lockdown started. However, even I am a bit fed up with our limitations. I have a range of routes and do a shorter one with DC and a longer one by myself each day but lack of loos is an issue and nice cafes to have a cup of tea and piece of cake would help.
Last night MIL offered to babysit - children in bed asleep- and DH ad I went for a walk at 7. It was lovely to be out alone together. We walked along the sea-front for 8 miles and stopped and sat n a seat on the headland looking out to sea with a bottle of cider each Grin

ILiveInSalemsLot · 07/06/2020 16:53

Most people were out at work or school all week then out and about doing various things over the weekend.
If you enjoy going out then right now your main or only option is going for a walk. So a walk it is.

AdoptedBumpkin · 07/06/2020 16:53

I can relate. I'm bored of seeing the same roads.

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/06/2020 16:54

I'm still enjoying my walks, but dh and dd have given up on them completely. It's difficult to make dd come out with me when dh just says "nah, not today". So I leave them behind and go by myself (that's why I enjoy it tbh!)

I play ingress, which is rather a lot like Pokémon go, but ever so slightly more grown up. And I listen to an audiobook from the library. I'd like to keep up daily walking even after lockdown is finished, but I know I won't because life will get busy again with commuting and after school activities etc. So time for walking will disappear 😢. I'm lucky enough to have 3 different woods and a river with a park on either side within walking distance, so I can vary the route regularly.

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/06/2020 16:56

I truly do understand why people are bored of it though, as anything gets boring if it's the only thing you're allowed to do

magimedi · 07/06/2020 17:01

@MarielVanArkleStinks

I have sent you a pm.

I am also bored with the whole thing but realise how lucky we are in where we live & what we do.

PhoneLock · 07/06/2020 17:09

I think it's people who used to go swimming, to the gym, a pilates or zumba class or to something like Parkrun. Everything closed,

I think some gyms and classes adapted to lockdown better than others. My gym closed for face-to-face training sessions but they carried on via Zoom. I'm fitter than I've ever been and it has maintained the social aspect. The gym banter has carried on.

NoMoreDickheads · 07/06/2020 17:11

Download Pokemon Go- it makes walking far more interesting.

Bargainhuntbore · 07/06/2020 17:12

I go out walking or running every day. Often twice a day.

You need to change your scenery.

Kirienko2020 · 07/06/2020 17:13

Yea it's basically existing. Can't do anything, no holidays abroad to look forward to, can't plan things or eat out in town etc etc

TazSyd · 07/06/2020 17:16

I hear you OP.

I’m really missing swimming and body balance.

speakout · 07/06/2020 17:17

Fairly pathetic.
First world problem.

EwwSprouts · 07/06/2020 17:18

I might be odd but I do not understand all the people who are suddenly walking who never bothered before?
I'm not normally a walker preferring to go swimming. But we need to get out of the house or our backsides will just expand exponentially. We'll walk at different times to give each other space too as DH, the teen & I are all at home full-time.

CharityDingle · 07/06/2020 17:18

@beela

I still like walks, I'm just bored to tears by the rest of it.
Same here.
justmyview · 07/06/2020 17:23

I wonder if Orienteering would make the walks more interesting? Has anyone tried it? It seems there are some permanent routes you can do any time ie not part of an organised event

PhoneLock · 07/06/2020 17:25

I wonder if Orienteering would make the walks more interesting?

Isn't that just Pokemon without a phone?

ITonyah · 07/06/2020 17:28

I absolutely agree OP.

I used to love walking before this, now all my normal walks are busy with other walkers and its just not the same. I'm f'ing bored with the same old fields as well.

Picklypickles · 07/06/2020 17:29

I'm sick of walks with my kids! I live in a village which is in a valley, so it isn't really possible to go for a walk without there being a long, steep hill to climb at some point and for a pair of fit and healthy children they don't half whinge about hills, my 6yr old actually cries. Its also hard to drive out of the village and anywhere else at the moment because where we live is very popular with cyclists and daytrippers from the city and its been absolutely crazy busy here recently, feeling kind of trapped. I thought the rain might put them off but no, just seen a notice on FB that the local beauty spot has ran out of parking and people are parking across residents drives and blocking access to emergency vehicles etc - a daily occurrence for weeks now.

ITonyah · 07/06/2020 17:29

Audiobooks and Bbc sounds are the only things keeping walking interesting!

puffinkoala · 07/06/2020 17:29

You nearly exactly what I meant, but as you are choosing to be pedantic would property suit you better

To be fair I read it the same way and thought you'd kept them indoors since March 20th.

puffinkoala · 07/06/2020 17:31

Audiobooks and Bbc sounds are the only things keeping walking interesting

Yes I've gone out for walks while listening into work meetings I don't have to contribute to, or listening to recordings of meetings/webinars that I missed.

lazylinguist · 07/06/2020 17:32

Those of us with dogs already walked every day before lockdown! I'm lucky to live in one of the most scenic areas of countryside in the UK, so the variety of walks keeps me interested.

ITonyah · 07/06/2020 17:33

I have dogs but there are too many bloody dog walkers on our usually deserted routes!! Not sure what they were doing pre lockdown but its so busy here now its a complete pain.
