To ask, what's the highest priced item in your weekly shop?

I'm always interested to see what was the highest priced item in my food shop.

Usually it is processed/pre-made which tops the list. Or cleaning items like laundry products; I've started to buy dish washer tabs monthly via Amazon.

This shop it was a bucket of Linda McCartney southern fried chicken- £5.

Or it could be the two boxes of cat food, £8 total on a multi-buy. £4 each instead of £5.

Ingredient-type items seem cheap as chips in comparison.

What is your highest priced item?

I wanted the 1kg jar of Nutella at around £5.75, but settled for the 400g jar instead. Smile

Gin - £20

Flippinfurloughed · 01/06/2020 10:36

Gin here too £20 Grin

Cat litter is £12 and probably the second most expensive thing. Wine about £10. Meat about £8 ish depending on what it is!

BissueTox · 01/06/2020 10:37

Not in a weekly shop but when I buy Gin it pushes the bill right up! Grin

This week I think it's the bbq briquettes at £5.

IF they deliver them. Confused

Mummyjsa · 01/06/2020 10:37

Had out shopping delivered today and it was some salmon at £7 as a treat!

Orangecake123 · 01/06/2020 10:38

Mature cheddar cheese 500g- £4

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 01/06/2020 10:38

Yeah probably the cats too! I’m pretty frugal but they get the food that’s ‘one grade up from just sawdust’ so it can cost £8-10.

Otherwise a big pack of loo roll etc. Most of my bigger items are expensive because they’re bulk buys not frivolous.

Only frivolous things are the occasional rib eye steak/rib roast and a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice when the machine is up and running!

Teacaketotty · 01/06/2020 10:38

Baby formula, cat food, dishwasher tablets.. nothing exciting for us unless we get a couple steaks for a treat!

NCbutnotaweirdsextroll · 01/06/2020 10:38

Dishwasher tablets or washing up powder.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 01/06/2020 10:39

Gin

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 01/06/2020 10:39

Nappies 2 massive bags of pampers for £18! I usual get Asda on my lunch break but not working and Asda is not local from home. I don’t find the local shops brands as good for my child (I’ve tried them).

SimonJT · 01/06/2020 10:40

Vodka or laundry liquid probably

Orangecake123 · 01/06/2020 10:40

Don't buy it every week though only when it runs out.

Grilled Artichoke jars are: £1.33.

OhTheRoses · 01/06/2020 10:40

If not a bottle of spirits usually a leg of lamb or double rib of beef.

Littleshortcake · 01/06/2020 10:40

Grin at gin. But It works out cheaper than wine.

Mine is roast beef. I don't buy one every week- possibly every second week. This week it was Hereford steak. Some weeks we have pork fillet or roast chicken on a Sunday so a fiver max.

lojoko · 01/06/2020 10:41

Booze - surely for everyone that drinks it's booze. Unless they smoke as well!

Every now and again I buy a big cut of beef and that outpaces the wine. Grin

thirstyformore · 01/06/2020 10:41

Alcohol. Not weekly, but gin, vodka etc usually £20+

Weekly it would be wine (£10ish) or case of beer (£12ish).

showmewhatyougot · 01/06/2020 10:41

Loo roll last week. They only had a 24 pack at £10

user1493242132 · 01/06/2020 10:41

Mixed nuts and nappies

kittlesticks · 01/06/2020 10:43

Nappies, baby formula and cat litter - thus demonstrating my exciting life Blush

Barnabyboyo · 01/06/2020 10:44

£35 Gin

raspberryk · 01/06/2020 10:46

Alcohol, dishwasher tablets, maybe if we get a joint of meat or steaks - not often.
Coffee or tea bags if it's a bulk buy and we only like decent brands on those.

MrsPotatoHeadsSheeWee · 01/06/2020 10:47

Oh nappies, formula. Yep, other big ticket items.

Nanasueathome · 01/06/2020 10:48
