To ask, what's the highest priced item in your weekly shop?

I'm always interested to see what was the highest priced item in my food shop.

Usually it is processed/pre-made which tops the list. Or cleaning items like laundry products; I've started to buy dish washer tabs monthly via Amazon.

This shop it was a bucket of Linda McCartney southern fried chicken- £5.

Or it could be the two boxes of cat food, £8 total on a multi-buy. £4 each instead of £5.

Ingredient-type items seem cheap as chips in comparison.

What is your highest priced item?

Usually fresh meat or washing detergent

I'm still shock at the person who buys £12 cat litter! Ours is the crappy £1.50 stuff

Cheap cat litter can be a false economy. I foster rescue cats and used to buy the cheap value stuff but we were using several bags a week if I had a litter of kittens because it needed fully changing every other day. Plus it also filled the wheelie bin and made it very heavy - I was surprised I hadn't had a snotty letter from the council.

So I tried Catsan - we get it from Costco for around £9 a bag, or it's available for a similar price from Zooplus and it lasts much longer as you just need to scoop the poos and the wee gets absorbed without making a smell and it lasts much longer.

So it's no more expensive, much easier to buy as you have fewer heavy bags to lug in, and doesn't fill your bin so much.

Most recent shop:

Huge page of Purina One for the cat (£15) and his pouches (£8)

Box of wine for Mr Twiglets (£12.50)

Box of 24 diet coke cans (£6.50)

The cat biscuits is once a month, wine is never usually on the supermarket delivery as he normally gets his own. Cat pouches and diet coke is on every shop :)

On first reading that I thought Mr Twiglets was the cat and that he's taking feline entitlement to whole other level.

I spent 15 quid on a boneless leg of lamb yesterday, that was the most expensive item but it was on offer £7 per kilo so pretty good value.
We will be having minted lamb pittas and then a roast out of it I think, or maybe I'll do lamb leg steaks.

Wine.

Other than that dishwasher tablets (but not every week obviously).

After that everything's between 50p and £3.

Except my hot sauce.

Smoked salmon or raw salmon. Why is it so expensive? A tiny package of smoked salmon is gone after a couple of bites Confused

A tin of tuna for £11 Blush its albacore fillet and it's the softest silkiest thing ever. My treat that Dh and DC have no idea about
