New thread to discuss the cummings and goings of the PM's chief adviser.

I haven't yet seen any news of Cummings' resignation

Or even an apology. And none of the other offenders are reported as having CV at the time they broke the regulations so the risk caused was far less than that of Cummings.

A 'mob' of lefty journalists descending on Cummings house eh? Wonder what the collective term for a group of righty journalists is..

Peregrina · 31/05/2020 15:53

Nor are the three who have resigned supposed to be ill with Covid, as Cummings and his wife say they were.

FliesandPies · 31/05/2020 15:55

"Former Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt, who ran against Mr Johnson for the Tory leadership, was accused of plotting against the PM;"

Accused by whom? The Mail?

Mumratheevergiving · 31/05/2020 15:58

Clavinova - Top UK scientists say that Cummings actions are detrimental to public adherence to the rules just at the point people need to be more vigilant not less in order to protect our most vulnerable. Do you think they are ill informed? What do you think the Government should do to follow that science & act on it? science?://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/may/30/dominic-cummings-actions-damage-public-health

PigletJohn · 31/05/2020 16:00

Cummings claims to have taken expert advice about his fitness to return to work, though apparently not about his fitness to drive. Nobody believes his fairy story about the family outing on his wife's birthday.

He carefully avoided saying if he consulted a GP, specialist, hospital, dialled 111 or chatted to his dad's golfing buddy. Either with an examination, in person, or over the phone.

He did not say if he had been diagnosed with COVID but denies having a test.

The statement that was written for him to read out in the garden was not intended to answer our questions, but to deny blame.

Clavinova · 31/05/2020 16:05

All this whataboutery to make what DC has done all OK is quite amusing.

Clearly the witness who falsely claimed that he saw DC in Durham on the 19th April is not whataboutery or amusing.

But this is amusing - BBC;

"Rosie Duffield met her partner in her Canterbury constituency for a five-hour walk when he was still living with his wife"...

"While insisting the pair had observed the two-metre social distancing rule when they met." Grin

FliesandPies · 31/05/2020 16:09

Oh dear, yet more desperate grinny face emojis to make up for the lack of any decent argument.

Alsohuman · 31/05/2020 16:10

Yup. So tedious.

HeIenaDove · 31/05/2020 16:11

These tactics are old. They were used on Boris and Carries old neighbours and they were used on the parents whose child had spent hours lying on the hospital floor. When Boris shoved a journalists phone in his pocket when shown a photo.

chomalungma · 31/05/2020 16:13

Seem Rachel Johnson is also under scrutiny.

It's like ping pong

metro.co.uk/2020/05/31/boris-johnsons-sister-rachel-flouts-lockdown-stay-second-home-12782842/

HeIenaDove · 31/05/2020 16:17

Is that a recent photo of her. I was taking note of her hair.

Alsohuman · 31/05/2020 16:21

To be fair she doesn’t look as if she’s just emerged from the hairdressers. She’s naturally blond so there would never be any roots. That’s a step too far for me Helena.

HeIenaDove · 31/05/2020 16:30

Oh fair enough. Though i meant the cut.

Roussette · 31/05/2020 16:31

Clavinova I'll say again.. Duffield has resigned. She did the right thing. And she is not the PM's Senior Adviser. And she did not have COVID symptoms. No comparison.

I do agree the false witness was not good. However, the chemistry teacher, the desperate trying to dig dirt on him was equally bad. He had broken no rules.

Peregrina · 31/05/2020 16:33

The false witness can be charged with wasting Police time, which would be fair enough.

Everytimeref · 31/05/2020 16:45

It became pretty obvious really quickly that the second slighting had been wrong. (I thought maybe mistaken identity) as The Mirror and The Observers, didn't repeat the claim after the weekend.
Hounding the Teacher was really unfair, collecting children from uni was permitted.

Clavinova · 31/05/2020 16:46

Seems Rachel Johnson is also under scrutiny.

I'm not keen on Rachel Johnson at all if I am honest.

Top UK scientists

How can you tell they are 'top scientists' from a list? I recognise a few names but one I have just checked on LinkedIn is a lecturer in her first position.

billysboy · 31/05/2020 16:52

time to move on isnt it ? he not going to get sacked or resign so all this energy would be better spent on something else maybe

Alsohuman · 31/05/2020 16:54

I guess we can all decide how to use our energy and when we want to move on.
FliesandPies · 31/05/2020 16:58

Move on yerself Billy.

YouTheCat · 31/05/2020 17:01

How easy is it to doctor info on Strava? Sounds more like some pressure has been applied to that person.

Clavinova · 31/05/2020 17:01

Roussette
Duffield has resigned.

She may have resigned without the coronavirus lockdown - meeting a married lover doesn't go down well in politics if you are found out.

HeIenaDove · 31/05/2020 17:06

Unless you are a man.....................

Alsohuman · 31/05/2020 17:08

meeting a married lover doesn't go down well in politics if you are found out.

Doesn’t seem to have harmed Carrie Symonds.

chomalungma · 31/05/2020 17:09

The thing is - almost by definition - the chances of someone being a Remainer / Labour activist who either reports someone like Cummings or has a go at Johnson is very high - because it's someone with those views who are most likely to do this.

And then the media dismiss their views because they are 'a Remainer / Labour activist' etc.
