I was seeing someone a couple of months before lockdown started. We’ve continued things as best we can during lockdown but obviously it’s hard not being able to see each other.
On two occasions now he’s called me the name of the last woman he seriously dated, supposedly 2 years ago.
Both times have been after he’s finished a night shift at work so has been pretty tired. The first I laughed off as a slip up but now he’s done it again.
AIBU to end things over this, would you? I don’t know if I’m being overly dramatic.

I'm with the majority.
I call my kids the wrong names all the time and they haven't finished with me yet.

Aglet · 22/05/2020 07:39

Why don't you call him by another name as a joke and see if he reacts?

LolaDarkdestroyer · 22/05/2020 08:46

I would end it....as it will honestly play on your mind forever....have you ever done it no? I've never done it either it's a bit strange.

VerticalHorizon · 22/05/2020 19:26

if it's a mistake (and why wouldn't it be), then it's probably irritating for you and embarrassing for him, but if he is now more nervous than ever about it, that could make it worse...

If he's a good person, and the chemistry is right, you'll get past it.

I did it during sex!! It was just habit, hated my ex.

BronH · 22/05/2020 21:46

Don’t spoil something that could be fab over a silly name slip. Things are hard enough right now, just let it go until you can properly see him again and see how you feel about him then. Hope it works out wonderfully for you ( nothing if not a hopeless romantic!!). Good luck x

@winniestone37 😭😳😱

Shtella · 23/05/2020 16:21

Not as bad as when I referred to an overweight colleague as 'Ursula over here'! We'd been talking about The Little Mermaid and I meant Ariel. She even had the short haircut so it was extra bad.

toothfairy73 · 23/05/2020 20:55

@Shtella 😂

I've done it before, it's just a momentary forgetful moment. Not a big deal to me.

Yousicktwistedfruit · 24/05/2020 00:04

My mum has been doing this since I was a kid I get called by my sisters name, nieces, dogs and my dad before she finally gets to mine I’m use to it now I just answer her.

moolady1977 · 24/05/2020 09:27

My ex called me by his ex gf name lots of times I just ignored until he called it me in bed that was the beginning of the end , my oh has called me by his exw name but I've also called him by my exes name it's just something that happens I wouldn't be thinking of ending it

Aimily · 24/05/2020 11:07

If it helps my own mum mixes me and my sister up, my grandad calls me and my sister by our mums name, dh has called me by his sisters name once, we've both called eachother our exs name.

We've also started calling ds by the dogs name and visa versa 🙈 I think it's a lack of concentration thing.

I think dd is the only one who doesn't get called anyone elses name, but that because there aren't any other girls her age in the family and her name is a bit unusual for a 3 year old (she's got my great grandmother's name becuaee dh loved it so much)
