Death by M&S Ready Meals

Well I’ve been isolating at home with my teenagers as myself and my eldest have had Coronavirus. I realised that neither of us would be well enough to cook and the other teenager has mock exams.

As there were no supermarket delivery slots I decided to order some ready meals from M&S thinking it would be quality food and help us recover.

However I was really shocked at the salt sugar and fat content. We can’t possibly eat this. It will make us sick again. It cost a fortune. I realise it was probably a bit stupid of me at the time but I wasn’t well and wasn’t thinking properly. My mouth feels like sandpaper at the very thought of all that salt being poured into it. Am I being unreasonable?

Of course it’s going to be fine.

Honestly the things people get all het up over. 🙄

SharonasCorona · 13/05/2020 20:28

Do people eat like this 3 times a day?

This thread just went from mildly annoying to goady.

Thisismytimetoshine · 13/05/2020 20:28

Lol i love how ur post intimidated processed food junkies
Don't be silly 🤦‍♀️

FudgeBrownie2019 · 13/05/2020 20:28

M&S pies are the foods of the gods.

You would be U to eat that way often but as a one off it's not a big thing - just eat less salt the next day and you'll be fine.

Sickofbroccoli · 13/05/2020 20:30

@usernotknown the pie is absolutely amazing. Wouldn’t eat it every day, but completely delicious.

OP, YABU - you’ve picked things with butter pastry and lots of cheese and you’re seemingly surprised they’re not healthy? As PP said, just split them between you if you really can’t manage one yourself and enjoy.

Alsohuman · 13/05/2020 20:30

I bet they're delicious....

They are.

Jellykat · 13/05/2020 20:31

Gawd, just eat it, i eat M&S ready meals once or twice a week, and it hasn't killed me... yet Grin

Pukkatea · 13/05/2020 20:31

You want to gain weight but you're horrified by fat.

Where do you think calories come from?

topazdiamondsandemeralds · 13/05/2020 20:31

Looks delicious. Grin

HariboLectar · 13/05/2020 20:32

That pie sounds amazing! 🤤

It didn't, but your post does terrify the grammar pendant in me.

Snorkelface · 13/05/2020 20:33

If you've had coronavirus with a fever your body probably needs its salt levels topped back up. On that basis I'd consider the pie medicinal.

MelonsMcGee · 13/05/2020 20:34

Everything you 'know' about nutrition is wrong. Saturated fat and salt are absolutely key for your body and you would die without them. Eat too much and your body will process it and excrete it, as it should. Sugar, on the other hand, will kill you.

hotcrossbun4321 · 13/05/2020 20:34

They do a chicken and leek pie in that range which is delicious. Surely they are not designed to be an everyday thing, hence why it's the 'Gastropub' range - it's marketed as restaurant food at home/Friday night treat. They do plenty of healthier options - they have some lovely salads and ready made fish dishes

AdoptedBumpkin · 13/05/2020 20:35

YABU unless it will actually make you ill.

GreyGardens88 · 13/05/2020 20:37

It's a treat that's not supposed to be eaten every day, besides everyone knows all ready meals are unhealthy and contain loads of salt, if you were as clued up on diet as you try to make out you would know that

Megan2018 · 13/05/2020 20:38

We have that pie often. Still alive! (I don’t give it fo the baby though). Seriously, no need to clutch pearls over it. It’s food, eat it or don’t. It’s nice!

PurpleDaisies · 13/05/2020 20:38

Saturated fat and salt are absolutely key for your body and you would die without them. Eat too much and your body will process it and excrete it, as it should.

This is absolute nonsense.

Dieu · 13/05/2020 20:39

Oh for God's sake, just eat and enjoy!

Sickofbroccoli · 13/05/2020 20:39

For the other fans of this range, have you tried the scotch eggs? I have never liked them until I discovered these ones, complete with runny yolk.

Chillipeanuts · 13/05/2020 20:39

Seriously overpriced rubbish.

Snorkelface · 13/05/2020 20:39

MelonsMcGee - I totally agree with this.

Dagnabit · 13/05/2020 20:40

Bloody hell. Just get it down your neck!

mynameiscalypso · 13/05/2020 20:42

I hope you never order a dominos OP!

AgeLikeWine · 13/05/2020 20:42

YABU, obviously. Steak pie isn’t supposed to be health food, and eating it occasionally, served with plenty of fresh vegetables as part of a balanced diet is completely fine.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.
