For so many reasons recently. I feel so, so sad about what has happened to our country.

YANBU to feel that way
YABU to feel that way

Well done for quantifying your reasoning. Star

Mosschopz · 07/05/2020 23:14

YANBU

bluebluezoo · 07/05/2020 23:15

What exactly has happened to our country that makes you feel so sad?

FrippEnos · 07/05/2020 23:16

YABU

FourPlasticRings · 07/05/2020 23:16

Feel how you like, OP, but I don't understand in the slightest why people take political decisions made by others as a personal reflection on themselves.

Pipandmum · 07/05/2020 23:16

What's your reason?

Smellbellina · 07/05/2020 23:17

There’s already a thread on this can’t you join that one and nope together?

user200000000 · 07/05/2020 23:18

I didn't vote for this shower of shit government, Nor did I vote leave.

So I'm not ashamed.

Ginfordinner · 07/05/2020 23:18

I am frustrated that the countries who have lower deaths are countries where people tend to follow the rules better than we do. We have far too many people in the UK who think the rules don't apply to them.

Ellisandra · 07/05/2020 23:19

@FourPlasticRings spot on!

KenDodd · 07/05/2020 23:27

There's a thread just now about our tabloid press, it just tipped me over the edge. I know our press has always been like that but these are our best selling papers, this is what we buy and they speak to and for knuckleheaded racists. Our politicians are lying incompetents, and the public think they're doing a great job, I just don't know what a bad job would look like. Look at the international press we've had over the last few years and very recently about our handling of CV. I actually feel really upset about it all and it is just so many things.

OP posts:
PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 07/05/2020 23:29

Well it depends why.

If it's because you think people are breaking made up rules or didn't clap or whatever other bs like that YABU.

If it's because Pizza Hut decided a full English belongs on a pizza then YANBU.

KenDodd · 07/05/2020 23:29

Do other countries have such unintelligent newspapers? Is that any other country's level?

OP posts:
PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 07/05/2020 23:30

Got the voting wrong, just swap them around.

yellowbrickwhorl · 07/05/2020 23:31

Look on the bright side, at least we don't have Trump in charge.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 07/05/2020 23:32

Do other countries have such unintelligent newspapers?

Ermmm...yes!

And gossip and stupidity and racism and bullshit and made up crap and spin and everything else you hate here.

If you want to avoid that you need a country where the government controls everything including the media and how happy everyone is.

KenDodd · 07/05/2020 23:32

at least we don't have Trump in charge.
We do. And scratch the surface of that and you find Putin.

OP posts:
cyclingmad · 07/05/2020 23:32

Who cares what the media says, half of it is complete bs and if you look closer sources are just pile of crap. They make up crap to sell papers etc. All this info on what easing lockdown will be...noone knows its just be days of speculation, no substance to it. Flipping joke and it happens in every country other than those countries that control the media with an iron fist

AhoyRoy · 07/05/2020 23:34

Because, internationally, we (collectively) are a joke.
Unfortunately that is a reflection on all of us, similar to how Americans are mocked here for voting in Trump- even though most of them didn't vote for him, it was the system that allowed him to be elected.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 07/05/2020 23:35

Example of a Swedish tabloid

Like any national tabloid, general news, entertainment and lifestyle stories heavily feature in Aftonbladet’s coverage. Stories that are free to access have a typical tabloid-esque tone, with stories like “The Dutch foreign minister resigns — lied about Putin meetingg” and “Begging man caught money launderingg.”

Sonichu · 07/05/2020 23:35

Didn't we have this thread last week?

YgritteSnow · 07/05/2020 23:35

No I am not. And I think if we all stopped drooping about feeling ashamed and slagging ourselves off constantly we might actually stop looking such a shower of pathetic twats. How can we expect anyone else to respect us when we are so busy whining about ourselves. The only people who should be ashamed are the government and those who voted them in but I can guarantee they're not.

AhoyRoy · 07/05/2020 23:36

I agree with this OP. The newspapers tell the mob what to think. And just sometimes I feel as if the government act based on what the mob want.

KenDodd · 07/05/2020 23:37

Because, internationally, we (collectively) are a joke.

We are. It never used to be this way. Not that long ago we were 'Cool Britannia'.

Do other countries have such unintelligent newspapers?

Yes, a few quite a lot worse than ours too believe bit or not, we also aren't the only country afflicted with lying incompetents as a government either....you're naive to think that the UK is failing miserably and everywhere else in the world is running like clockwork
