To ask whether you’d be able to get hold of drugs if you wanted to?

Just that really. I’m against drugs of any kind and wouldn’t have any idea how to get hold of any even if I wanted to. I wouldn’t have a clue who to contact and didn’t think I knew anyone else who’d have such contacts either.

Came up in conversation with DH last night whilst watching a programme about drug trafficking that he knows a number of people in the area who are able to get hold of such things (cocaine, MDMA etc) and even deliver to our door! I’m shocked. DH says that most people have the contacts to get hold of drugs if they really wanted to, which I’m not sure I believe. Am I really this naive?!

My initial thought was I wouldn't have a clue as I've never taken drugs before.

But then, of course, I know people who have taken drugs and who still do. Some of them are family, some friends and some ex employees.

It's not something I've really ever thought about though so it took a while for my brain to catch up.

unchienandalusia · 05/05/2020 22:56

Yes. In 5. Want some?

Mummyshark2018 · 05/05/2020 23:00

Where I currently live, no don't know people and lived here 15 years. My home town, could get a number in 5 minutes!

LuminousAmber · 05/05/2020 23:02

I know a couple of heavy weed users - BIL is one, an old work colleague of dh’s another.

They both do no more than weed but they know some properly dodgy people - I think most weed dealers dabble in other stuff or at the very least would know someone who does.

So yes, pretty sure I ‘could’ get most things if I wanted despite never having before!

ChilliCheese123 · 05/05/2020 23:04

@paininthepoinsettia earning 100k at 30 may mean you are the drug dealer Grin

chockaholic72 · 05/05/2020 23:10

I don’t think I’d have a clue. At uni 30 years ago I’d just hang around Normanton Road in Derby, near one of the phone boxes. Nowadays the only person I can think of is a young lad on our allotment who sometimes has a whiff of weed smell about him.

Batqueen · 05/05/2020 23:11

I have never in my life been offered drugs.

Whenever I go anywhere with my brother people seem to approach him and offer drugs.

I’ve discussed it with dp (who has done recreational drugs in the past) apparently I look too clean-cut and switched on etc? I’m not quite sure what that means.

But if I really wanted them I’m sure I could go through my brother or dp’s contacts.

(Dp no longer does drugs, brother pretends not to any more but the only ones who believe him are my parents)

Waitingforadulthood · 05/05/2020 23:13

My neighbor is a drug dealer. I didn't know until lockdown.

But, his current social distancing policy means they pull up in their car outside his house, put money under his pot plant, get back in car- call him. He comes out. Dons gloves. Checks cash. Pockets it. Takes off gloves, puts new gloves on, goes inside and gets drugs, puts them under pot plant. Goes inside. Then they get the drugs.

At first I was alarmed. Then appreciative of his attempt to keep to social distancing. Then completely understanding of his stance- his customers NEVER take precautions. No gloves. They turn up in brand new Audi's and Gucci suits, and the whole thing has altered my view on people and challenged my preconceptions.

loubieloo4 · 05/05/2020 23:23

I wish I did!

Dh(39) has stage 4 terminal bowel cancer (6-12 months life expectancy) and I have read great things on cbd +thc, it would need to be the drops as dh doesn't smoke. It is meant to be great for helping with pain relief and chemo symptoms. I have asked a few people if they know of anyone but nobody in our circle does.

WellDoneBridge · 05/05/2020 23:26

Yeppppp

FeelinFagin · 05/05/2020 23:28

There's a bloke next door who I think deals. If he doesn't then he definitely knows plenty of people who do. I'm not friends with any dealers so wouldn't approach them myself because they wouldn't trust me (I know who they are though) but my DD's best friends mum and dad are in that way of life. Both on methadone and questionable acquaintances. Despite that they're really good parents. They still live in a less than ideal environment, dingy flat, lots of dogs, air thick with smoke (tobacco and weed) and unseemly acquaintances but they love that girl to bits and do everything they can for her. She has everything she needs and most of what she wants.

But if I was to pop round and have a natter with her mum she would be able to get me drugs I'm sure.

TheHobbitMum · 05/05/2020 23:29

Yep, no issue. I don't know many dealers personally but quite a few friends do so I'd get contact details within short time

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 05/05/2020 23:29

Yes I think most people could if they put their mind to it.

Tunnocks34 · 05/05/2020 23:33

Erm I could probably reach out to someone who knows someone but it would be someone from my past - not a current contact!

Lockdownproblems · 05/05/2020 23:36

Yes I could quite easily. I dont take them but know who does and who deals.

CatBatCat · 05/05/2020 23:42

@McT123 totally wrong mushrooms if you're picking them from the woods. The magic ones are in fields.

WyfOfBathe · 05/05/2020 23:42

As a secondary teacher, I could probably get hold of weed quite easily, but I wouldn't have my job for long!

Anything stronger? Now I wouldn't. When I was a masters student living in the only accommodation I could afford, definitely.

Healthyandhappy · 05/05/2020 23:57

Wouldn't have a clue

Lucked · 06/05/2020 00:05

I hope people are careful as we have an increase in drug related deaths locally so there is definitely problems with normal supply chains.

Me and DH would struggle and would probably have to ask a lot of people before finding someone who could help us and I suspect one of those people would snitch on us to our employer!

DressingGownofDoom · 06/05/2020 00:06

From what DH tells me there's some people taking drugs and possible selling them at the golf club of all places. So I'm sure he would know someone who would know someone. Personally no I wouldn't have a clue.

Spasiba · 06/05/2020 00:20

I could ask my adult kids (I wouldn't though), I'm sure they would know.

MrFaceyRomford · 06/05/2020 01:10

I wouldn't have the vaguest idea how to get hold of them.

1300cakes · 06/05/2020 02:21

Nope, I wouldn't have a clue. And I'm not against drugs at all, quite like them and in fact I'd like to get some for occasional use.

I've tried to buy some at music festivals before where everyone around me was clearly on drugs, and I still couldn't find any.

This is one reason I'm Hmm at people who claim they've used drugs but it's not their fault as they were "offered drugs", or they were "begged" or "pushed" by friends to take them. Where are all my offers then? Grin

Zoflorabore · 06/05/2020 02:36

Yes, pretty much straight away.

NDN has a very good “relationship” with the local coke dealer. He does her offers etc, seriously.

Other neighbour over the road is a bad coke head and cars pull up outside and she comes to the car, gets in the passenger side and is back out and up the driveway in under a minute. I think she believes she is being discreet!

It’s so bloody obvious once you know. I used to be naive too and I worry about both women’s children immensely, especially the second family I mentioned.

MrsGrindah · 06/05/2020 08:19

@x2boys Totally agree. That’s why I don’t think it’s fair that some posters appear to be criticising OP for being naive..if it’s not your life experience it’s not and that’s OK.
