To ask whether you’d be able to get hold of drugs if you wanted to?

Just that really. I’m against drugs of any kind and wouldn’t have any idea how to get hold of any even if I wanted to. I wouldn’t have a clue who to contact and didn’t think I knew anyone else who’d have such contacts either.

Came up in conversation with DH last night whilst watching a programme about drug trafficking that he knows a number of people in the area who are able to get hold of such things (cocaine, MDMA etc) and even deliver to our door! I’m shocked. DH says that most people have the contacts to get hold of drugs if they really wanted to, which I’m not sure I believe. Am I really this naive?!

Very true. It's quite frightening to think of the resources used on these low level arrests, that could be used for rehabilitation.

As long as the public are willing to keep paying for it, every actor in "The War On Drugs" has absolutely no incentive to ever stop.

The answers on these threads always surprise me, as I wouldn't have a clue where to get any or who to ask. I must be living a very sheltered life!

Yes, cannabis could go to my next door neighbour dealer, a relative has also ordered direct from Amsterdam which is apparently better quality and comes in packages designed to get past sniffer dogs.

Valium, codeine and tramadol could get through Irish sites selling them through royal mail.

Coke, ecstacy, heroin etc I wouldn't know how to get.

They do summerloaf though. When I was an addict whenever I landed in a new city and wasnt on methadone id just find a homeless guy and ask them. Just needed to know what you're asking and have a bit of extra resources

You're not against drugs of any kind, OP. You are against recreational drugs which are currently illegal to possess.

In any case, yes, I could get hold of such drugs quickly and easily, if I wanted to. And it was just as easy to do so in a small town as it is in a big city, although I have to admit when I lived in a small town dealers weren't handing our business cards during freshers week the way I've seen them do here before!

No but I reckon I could find out fairly easily if I wanted to.

In any Secondary school, confiscating drugs is fairly common place, I quite often have some in the safe at work awaiting collection by police who rarely come for them, as it's so regular

Absolutely would have no idea. Haven’t known anyone who Admitted to using any illegal substance since about 20 years ago.

Now, back when I was on grad school, I would have known who to ask.

Yeah, not much that I couldn't get hold of and since all the summer festivals have been cancelled the price has fallen through the floor on everything apart from weed.

@ProfessorSlocombe tbh I think drugs should be legalised not because it's great to do them but so trade and use is controlled. There would be massive benefits for producer countries in particular whose citizens have been terrorised by the criminals in charge of supply and also on a more mundane level I'd quite like it if my arsehole pot head neighbour and all the others like him stinking the place out were required to buy a vent/filter.

Yes. I 'dabbled' in various things when I was much younger and I know a few of the people from back then still do so I'd know who to ask.

I think people are naive if they think lockdown will have affected a drug dealer in any way. I imagine they are all carrying on as normal seen as they obviously aren't a stickler for the rules in the first place.

One of DH mates is into quite a few different recreationals so I'd be able to get hold of most things pretty quickly

I think I could get hold of weed quite easily but I wouldn't know how to get stronger drugs. Maybe the friend of a friend that does weed would know who to ask.

I can't find yeast anywhere; I know this is a horrible time and a serious subject but tbh it tickles me that it is currently easier to get hold of weed than yeast

The problem is that there is so much money swilling around with the current state of affairs, that's never going to happen. International drug cartels have spent far too much on political donations and sundry expenses to countenance anything other than the status quo continuing. Unless it's to have a(nother) "crackdown", which is always a quite boost to profits.

Once you start to abuse the law to police morality, you pretty much open the door to all sorts of interesting trades.
