To be unimpressed with this substitution

I know these are difficult times but FFS Sainsburys! If I order a box of wine and it's not available, surely you should sub it for another box? Or perhaps 3 bottles so it's a similar amount. Not a single 18.7cl bottle. It's neither use nor ornament!

Shock YANBU

Blackandgreenteas · 02/05/2020 12:00

Ha ha! That’s very funny.

therona · 02/05/2020 12:02

That's odd - I used to pick orders at Asda and we were always told to sub something of equal or greater value wherever possible.

KickingItSince1966 · 02/05/2020 12:05

I ordered a pack of 2 chocolate mousse ganache type desserts from Ocado. I received a singular cappuccino mousse. Disappointed is not the word.

EatDessertFirst · 02/05/2020 12:06

I feel your pain. Asda keep swapping the cider flavours I order. Not quite as bad as the oranges I ordered being subbed for garlic bulbs a couple of weeks ago. Still not over that.

bloodyhellsbellsx · 02/05/2020 12:19

I would be traumatised! I’ve stopped online shopping for this reason, they swapped fillet steak for rump that was the final straw!

Norma27 · 02/05/2020 12:25

My husband once ordered crumpets and received mint sauce and wasn't impressed.
Another time we received cat food instead of loo roll!

Comefromaway · 02/05/2020 12:27

Oranges and garlic!

I thought subbing green beans for spinach was strange but that’s silly.

Asda have been quite good in subbing like for like quantities but I would have preferred them to keep the same brand but a lesser quantity as Ds is very fussy.

Bluebird29 · 02/05/2020 12:29

I swear I read a substitution story on here years ago that the supermarket subbed a flea collar for head lice treatment!

CottonSock · 02/05/2020 12:30

Someone I know got a cauliflower for oranges.

iklboo · 02/05/2020 12:31

Morrison's subbed clotted cream with a tub of ELMLEA!

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 02/05/2020 12:33

I got another cucumber instead of courgette.

I now ensure that cucumbers and courgettes can not be substituted as clearly the picker was too thick to realise one is not in the salad vegetables section.

My beer substitutions have been more successful as I ended up with the best I actually wanted.

Corrag · 02/05/2020 12:34

I think the person picking the orders today is taking the piss, or on glue. I ordered two lots of cookies, let's call them A & B. They've subbed cookie A with cookie C, and then cookie B with cookie A Hmm

OP posts:
BeyondMyWits · 02/05/2020 12:40

Ahhh... but with the cookies sub it can save you money doing that - if cookie C is the most expensive, then A, then B (not available) ... because they price match the original - oh... Tescos do anyway, don't know about ASDA.

BeyondMyWits · 02/05/2020 12:41

or sainsbury..

ilovesooty · 02/05/2020 12:41

Well if you'd enabled no substitutions you wouldn't have got any wine at all.

Lilly11a · 02/05/2020 12:44

I ordered 1x 3l box of wine on my shop today. They substituted it for 2x 2.25l, I was well pleased, I m getting 1.5l of wine for free

GinghamStyle · 02/05/2020 12:44

My absolute favourite substitution story was from an ex who worked for Sainsbury’s To You back when internet shopping was quite new. He worked in the call centre and had a few complaints one Christmas.

Customer calls, they ordered a DVD, let’s say, Love, Actually....

They received....

A LIGHTBULB!!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 02/05/2020 12:46

I’d be raging OP Shock

Confuzzled123 · 02/05/2020 12:52

I like the idea of free wine but sending you a miniature would probably break me mentally in these current times. YANBU.

Youvegotafriendinme · 02/05/2020 12:58

ordered an Easter egg. Got a pineapple!

BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup · 02/05/2020 12:59

@ilovesooty you would then feel disappointed but not completely pissed off by being teased.

Boohai · 02/05/2020 12:59

I once had carrots as a substitute for a lightbulb. I guess they thought they would help me see in the dark!

MintyCedric · 02/05/2020 12:59

I've got my first Sainsbos order in years on Tuesday for click and collect.

I am now rather worried.

My worst ever sub was sweet pastry instead of short crust - I didn't realise until after I'd made my steak pie Confused

lyralalala · 02/05/2020 13:01

I’m still not over the time they subbed my cat food for dog food.

The delivery driver was mortified
