To be unimpressed with this substitution

I know these are difficult times but FFS Sainsburys! If I order a box of wine and it's not available, surely you should sub it for another box? Or perhaps 3 bottles so it's a similar amount. Not a single 18.7cl bottle. It's neither use nor ornament!

I find Sainsbury’s just don’t substitute wine. If it’s not available they act like there’s no other winery the shop. I don’t care if they substitute one Sauvignon Blanc for another. But I guess they’ve had previous complains from fussier wine drinkers than me.

Exactly this happened to one of my friends too - they'd ordered 2 or 3 fullsize bottles of red and got a miniature white. I'd be raging!
I agree that it should be at least the same quantity or more.

GabsAlot · 02/05/2020 13:06

can you still reject subs at the moment-im getting a click and collect next week

Zaphodsotherhead · 02/05/2020 13:06

This was why I stopped shopping online (that and I got a job in another, rival, supermarket).

I had several dogs. I used to do my online shop monthly and order 4 x 21 cans of dogfood (in those trays). Which was a month's supply.

I would regularly receive just 4 cans. Not even 21 cans or 4 x 21 loose cans (if there were no trays). Just 4 single cans. Which wasn't enough to get me through one day. What the hell? If I had to go out to buy more dog food, then I may as well do all my food shopping whilst I was there - which I eventually started doing.

Best one I've had - ordered a bottle of lemon juice, substituted with lemon washing up liquid!

GreyGardens88 · 02/05/2020 13:06

I feel your pain. Asda keep swapping the cider flavours I order. Not quite as bad as the oranges I ordered being subbed for garlic bulbs a couple of weeks ago. Still not over that

I ordered a 5 kilo bag of potatoes once, and got one single new potato.

Originalyellowbelly · 02/05/2020 13:09

I ordered a 20 litre bag of cat litter, they sent me a tiny 5 litre bag. I have 4 cats!

fairydustandpixies · 02/05/2020 13:13

I ordered a bag of frozen sliced mushrooms (I know, very lazy but convenient). I recieved one single button mushroom as a substitute instead 🤷‍♀️

LottieLizzie · 02/05/2020 13:14

I had this in reverse - we're not big wine drinkers but I needed some for a recipe so I ordered a miniature and got a box Shock which has been put away to give to my parents after lockdown Grin

Originalyellowbelly · 02/05/2020 13:15

One of the funniest I read on here ages ago was OP had ordered Barn Eggs and they sent her a wooden owl ornament.

30daysoflight · 02/05/2020 13:16

My funniest sub from Asda was a Jamaican ginger cake instead of four cans of Jamaican ginger beer.

At least they got the country right Grin

CaryStoppins · 02/05/2020 13:17

Think I read on here once someone ordering bottles of white wine and being subbed loaves of white bread Grin

sidsgranny · 02/05/2020 13:17

I ordered poo bags once and they were sub'd with doggy vitamins. Not sure if they were to bung him up so we wouldn't need the poo bags??

NoMoreDickheads · 02/05/2020 13:18

'Lol!'

feetfreckles · 02/05/2020 13:19

Yeah but I asked for specific chocolate bars and they didn't have them....And had no alternative!!!!

GreyGardens88 · 02/05/2020 13:19

These are all hilarious

Thinkle · 02/05/2020 13:20

Ordered dairy free (vegan) chocolate puddings
Got gluten free (and and vegan) puddings instead.

murasaki · 02/05/2020 13:22

Wasn't there someone on here who ordered raspberry jelly and got KY jelly as a substitute? Still makes me chuckle.

Tombero · 02/05/2020 13:23

This was years ago but my Grandma used to send her list to the shop then they’d deliver it. She told me she ordered and really wanted a Kit Kat.

When her shopping came it said ‘none available, have sent Whiskas instead’.

Corrag · 02/05/2020 13:25

@LottieLizzie you've got my wine box. Thief!

Heroes they are Grin

mummydoris2006 · 02/05/2020 13:27

I once got tiger bread as a substitute for tiger brand cat food from asda. I was laughing about it with the delivery driver who said he once had to deliver matey bubble bath as a substitute for mates condoms Confused

Villageidiots · 02/05/2020 13:27

These posts are usually made up and don't add up. Why bother? The supermarkets have strict criteria and it's just not left to the imagination of the picker.
