DD says she needs a chairdrobe because it's gross to put worn clothes in the wardrobe

or into drawers. And I reply if they are clean enough to be worn again they should go in the wardrobe.

I might not practise what I preach but I am right. Aren't I?

Not quite clean, not quite dirty, welcome to... the chair.
I agree with her.
I'm a messy person though.

BarbedBloom · 19/04/2020 11:11

I feel the same as your daughter. I wouldn't sweat the small stuff anyway at the moment

QuestionableMouse · 19/04/2020 11:12

Ugh I don't and I'm not that fussy about stuff in general. I'll wear stuff a couple times if clean but the thought of putting worn clothing back in with clean stuff icks me.

woodencoffeetable · 19/04/2020 11:13

yabu
I have a chairdrobe.
I looked long and hard for a naice chair.

pinkyredrose · 19/04/2020 11:13

I'm with your DD!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 19/04/2020 11:13

Is her chairdrobe in her room? If so, leave her be!

MyFavouritePlace · 19/04/2020 11:13

I'm with your DD but my own DD is like you :) we can swap? But must warn you she's a very moody 14 YO

MadCap · 19/04/2020 11:14

Also with your dd. Yabu

Costacoffeeplease · 19/04/2020 11:14

I wouldn’t put worn clothes back in the wardrobe/drawer. Even if not really dirty they’ll make the other clothes smell, like going into a charity shop

TeeniefaeTroon · 19/04/2020 11:14

I'm with your daughter. I don't put them back in the wardrobe.

Lllot5 · 19/04/2020 11:14

Depends how long for. I wear trousers a couple of days so don’t put them back in the wardrobe, but it’s two consecutive days so they’re not hanging around.

FourEyesGood · 19/04/2020 11:14

I’m with your DD too. Wouldn’t put worn stuff back into the drawers. It goes on The Chair.

Windyatthebeach · 19/04/2020 11:14

Imo she has hopes above her station op..
What's wrong with a floordrobe like most teens?
*ime..

SpicedCamomile · 19/04/2020 11:15

I never put worn clothes back in the wardrobe.

lazylinguist · 19/04/2020 11:16

I'm with you, OP. It's totally illogical. If something is clean enough to go on your body, how is it not clean enough to touch other clothes? Mind you, the sheer number of perfectly normal things that give MNers 'the ick' always astonishes me.

Gingernaut · 19/04/2020 11:16

Is it possible to put the clothes on hangers and put them on an open rail.

Chairdrobes tend to leave clothes creased.

Something like Rigga by IKEA

Aposterhasnoname · 19/04/2020 11:16

I’m with your DD I’m afraid. It’s gross to put worn clothes in the wardrobe/drawer with clean ones.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 19/04/2020 11:16

I agree with her!

Wardrobe is for freshly washed clothes only.

Then the only thing I wear more than once before a wash is jeans and cardigans

BanningTheWordNaice · 19/04/2020 11:16

I agree with your DD, definitely wouldn’t put worn stuff into my wardrobe. Perhaps compromise with a small hanging rail if you really don’t want her to just dump it on a chair?

Soubriquet · 19/04/2020 11:17

I have a floordrobe

UnfinishedSymphon · 19/04/2020 11:17

If they are making other clothes smell by putting them in the wardrobe then maybe they should be washed?

vodkaredbullgirl · 19/04/2020 11:17

Better on chair, than on the floor.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 19/04/2020 11:17

A chairdrobe is preferable to a floordrobe

Treaclepie19 · 19/04/2020 11:17

I'm with your DD but it does drive me mad seeing clothes just lying out 😒

Fairylillie · 19/04/2020 11:18

I agree, I'd never put something worn away again. My chair robe is the end of my bed as my son has acquired my chair for his room.
