or into drawers. And I reply if they are clean enough to be worn again they should go in the wardrobe.

I might not practise what I preach but I am right. Aren't I?

i use my bannister rather than a chair

Me too! I don't want my bedroom to look messy when there's a perfectly good landing to clutter up Grin

Nooooo you don't chairdrobe underwear! That would be a bit gross :o

Mucklowe · 19/04/2020 11:51

The chairdrobe is an essential, IMHO. I'm currently without mine, as we moved it to make room for the baby. I am missing it! I now have a corner-of-the-room-drobe instead Wink

kenandbarbie · 19/04/2020 11:53

Yeah I agree with your dd.

NW2SW · 19/04/2020 11:53

I am of the floordrobe persuasion, but I aspire to a ladder rail... one day!

A chairdrobe is a sensible filing system. If something has two 'wears' in it, and once you've worn in once it goes back into the wardrobe, you'll forget how many 'wears' it has left.

So chairdrobe means it's been worn once and has one more wear to go, or maybe more if you check first.

cakeandchampagne · 19/04/2020 11:54

Your DD is right.

NoMoreDickheads · 19/04/2020 11:54

I wouldn't put them with clean-clean clothes due to the potential of them getting mixed up, when they don't have so much wear in them before a wash. But I suppose it's a good idea to put them away as long as you don't get confused.

I just wear the same dress and maybe leggings for 2 days, so in theory nothing much is out and not for many hours that count at all. It would just be a dress and maybe leggings there until the next morning.

Jux · 19/04/2020 11:54

I'm lucky enough to have a chairdrobe and a walldrobe. The walldrobe is nails on which hung pictures which I didn't like and now have the honour of allowing clothes to be hung to air after being worn only once. The chairdrobe is for similar but pieces which don't crease.

I rather like my walldrobes. I can hang nice colourful skirts/dresses on them instead of pictures. Saves redecorating too. I can change the predominant colours of my room with very little trouble! Grin

Concestor · 19/04/2020 11:55

For me, things either go in the wash or back in the drawer. I hate having piles of messy clothes around the room.

Oysterbabe · 19/04/2020 11:57

I generally chuck my once worn clothes into the bottom of my wardrobe. Same as a floordrobe but less visible.

Katyy · 19/04/2020 11:58

I used to put clothes away again until very recently I found a moth ion the floor of my wardrobe.I have since found out they prefer clothes that have been worn as they like sweat and food crumbs. Everything now goes in the wash .

NEVER put worn clothes back in the wardrobe.
Moths love this and you will end up with an infestation.
Ugh its utterly grim and dirty anyway.

Abreadsandwich · 19/04/2020 12:03

Urgh this was my DHs excuse for years. Now we dont have a chair and there is always random items of his clothing on the floor. It drives me insane. Occasionally he will fold up a pair of jeans and a jumper to wear again for work, but most of the time it's just a messy pile of stuff, sometimes with dirty clothes as well.

SonjaMorgan · 19/04/2020 12:03

I agree with her. Hooks on the back of a door are a good alternative. I use the floor and I am not a teenager.

roarfeckingroar · 19/04/2020 12:04

I agree with your daughter and I am anally tidy

Daffodil55 · 19/04/2020 12:05

I confess I googled "chairdrobe" just in case a thing existed (shame on me) but now I know it doesn't.

I have a nice chair in the corner of my bedroom and yesterday's clothes are draped over as I will wear jeans/leggings/sweatshirt/top for two days or more before washing them. I don't wear the same things two days in a row though as it would be obvious they haven't been washed.

Underwear and socks always fresh daily and worn once OF COURSE!

I have a condition exactly like Prince Andrew and consider myself very lucky. I never sweat. Never had a problem with perspiration even on the hottest days. Grin

augustusglupe · 19/04/2020 12:07

Yes agree, currently mine get hung up in the spare room or put on the end of the bed. I’d love a chairdrobe.

Melroses · 19/04/2020 12:08

I like the idea of the mirrordrobe.

It is the jumpers that drive me mad. Eventually they all build up and I've forgotten which one I've worn when, so I put the lot in the washing machine then in the wardrobe again, until the cycle starts again.

Abreadsandwich · 19/04/2020 12:08

I would consider the nice ladder type thingy but problem is I fear it would buckle under how many things there were on it and they wouldnt be nicely or properly hung or draped to air!!

TheFredericaQuartet · 19/04/2020 12:08

Well, I couldn't sleep last night so I discovered the wonderful world of interior obsessives accounts on Instagram and none of them have chairdrobes, floordrobes or hanging rails in their bedrooms. And they are all real and not at all staged - oh no! - so I am NBU.

as they used to say in the olden days on MN.

monkeymonkey2010 · 19/04/2020 12:08

Your dd's right Grin
Even worn once, they are carrying the 'air' and germs of everything they came in contact with....and i don't like to 'contaminate' my fresh unworn stuff with the 'air' of the worn stuff b- so they get draped over my gym equipment which i'm going to start using, honest....

CodenameVillanelle · 19/04/2020 12:09

You're so wrong! Worn once clothes go on the chair. That's the rule. Back in with clean clothes? Noooo! You might forget that you've already worn it once and end up wearing it too many times
