Spoons then forks then knives

In your cutlery drawer, do you have spoons on the left, then forks, then knives? That makes sense to me because when you lay them out on the table it's forks on left and knives on the right. My DH puts them away (wrong) as knives on left then forks then spoons, just because he says it sounds right- when you say, 'knives, forks, spoons.'
I'm fully aware of the current world problems which are affecting us all terribly. This is still important😉

We've got forks, knives, tablespoons. Tea spoons horizontally across the front. I didn't give it any thought when I put the stuff in the drawers.

okiedokieme · 19/04/2020 12:41

Sharp knives, table knives, forks dessert spoons soup spoons in my drawer

kenandbarbie · 19/04/2020 13:03

Ooo I do!! I didn't realise!!

onlyjustme · 19/04/2020 13:05

I have:
L-R Soup spoons, spoons, forks, knives, random
The knife section is slightly longer than the previous three. Knives are slightly longer than the other three things so that makes sense!
The random is the full length of the tray top to bottom and holds a big load of junk (wooden spoon, salad servers, spatula, randoms...)
In front horizontally are teaspoons (this is clearly for teaspoons as it is only small - and this stops before the knife section which is why that is slightly longer) In front of this is another section where I put sharp knives, the two giant serving spoons and the long "sundae" spoons.
I could turn it round I suppose but then horizontal sections would be at the back of the drawer rather than the front and stuff there would be awkward to get to!
(Spent WAY too much time on this)

Mine is Forks, Knives, Spoons!

And my cleaner always puts the Knives and Forks the wrong way round when emptying dishwasher Shock

onlyjustme · 19/04/2020 13:08

Bit like this...

Spoons then forks then knives
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 19/04/2020 13:17

Knives, Forks, Dessert Spoons, Soup Spoons, Cooking knives/salad servers and assorted utensils in the compartment after that.
Tea Spoons in the horizontal compartment at the front.

Pastry forks randomly in with teaspoons and proper forks. I get irritated when I grab a pastry fork instead of a proper fork.

Having written it down, I'm wondering is reversing the order of Dessert Spoons & Soup Spoons would be more logical, but they've been that way for years, so no motivation to switch them over.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 19/04/2020 13:19

Mine goes front to back in ours. Spoons at the front (with teaspoons in the slot to the left), then forks in the middle, then knives at the back & shape knives in the long one after that. Thinking behind it is the knives are the harder to reach.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 19/04/2020 13:20

Sharp knives not shape.

testing987654321 · 19/04/2020 13:22

Forks, knives, spoons here.

We had this discussion at work and one person said "forks, spoons, knives". Everyone else stopped what they were doing and asked what was wrong with him!

Treaclepie19 · 19/04/2020 13:26

Well... ours was arranged as teaspoons, tablespoons, knives and forks. So thats the way it's stayed 🙈
Can't say I've ever questioned it!

MurrayTheMonk · 19/04/2020 13:31

Knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons across the top horizontally.

steppemum · 19/04/2020 13:33

It's definitely 'knives forks and spoons'

problem is my knives are longer, and the longer space is on the right, so it is knives forks and spoons from right to left!

2beautifulbabs · 19/04/2020 13:37

I have it same set up as you OP

Dogwithanovenmit · 19/04/2020 13:39

Knives, forks, spoons here. Teaspoons in the small compartments underneath. I didn’t think there was a right or wrong way but that’s how I’ve always done it. When I stay with DD they have fork, knife, spoon and I’m forever having to swap round all the forks and knives I’ve automatically put in the wrong section.

TheClitterati · 19/04/2020 13:39

I do spoon, fork, knifes.

I think your main problem op is you have 2 adults doing 2 different ways. Which must result in a hella mess.

Littlebluebird123 · 19/04/2020 13:39

@testing987654321

Nothing is wrong with him. You're the weird ones. 🤣

TheClitterati · 19/04/2020 13:40

But like which way a loo roll hangs it's not something I really care about at all.

randomsabreuse · 19/04/2020 13:44

Knives on the left because the long slot is that side and my knives are too long for the standard slots. Then forks. Then spoons except teaspoons which are at the back. I might change it if I ever design my own kitchen!

Flynn999 · 19/04/2020 14:11

I just chuck them in. Theirs baby spoon buried in with forks. Steak knifes with the teaspoons. Couple of wooden spoon, it's a free for allGrin

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 19/04/2020 17:40

Sharp knives - forks- knives- spoons- random crap- teaspoons along the bottom

On a serious note this thread is peak lockdown mn

wowfudge · 19/04/2020 17:43

I am totally with you OP.

Sunshine1235 · 19/04/2020 17:44

Spoons, forks, knives. My cutlery tray has the knife section (which is slightly longer) as the third slot across so it must be the official way 🤷🏻‍♀️

midnightstar66 · 19/04/2020 17:46

I do forks then knives then spoons. Never considered why til now but I guess they are in order of layout and use subconsciously

mbosnz · 19/04/2020 17:47

Mine is, from the left, teaspoons, then spoons, forks, and knives.

My mother used to rearrange my cutlery drawer to her satisfaction every time she came to visit. Right up until the point that the first thing I did after getting all the meet and greet out the way when we went to visit was to rearrange her cutlery drawer. She got the point almost immediately. . .
