Spoons then forks then knives

In your cutlery drawer, do you have spoons on the left, then forks, then knives? That makes sense to me because when you lay them out on the table it's forks on left and knives on the right. My DH puts them away (wrong) as knives on left then forks then spoons, just because he says it sounds right- when you say, 'knives, forks, spoons.'
I'm fully aware of the current world problems which are affecting us all terribly. This is still important😉

I didn't know there were rules about the cutlery drawer. Omg 🤣🤣🤣

PlanDeRaccordement · 19/04/2020 08:05

It doesn’t really matter.
We have from left to right
Sharp knives, chopsticks, knives, spoons, forks.
(The big and small spoons share a slot).

Gatehouse77 · 19/04/2020 08:09

Knives, forks, spoons, eating teaspoons, surplus spoons and, across the bottom, teaspoons for making tea with pastry forks and Chinese spoons.

For utensils:
Measuring spoons and scissors
Small sharp knives
Peelers, graters, cheese slice
Serving spoons
Tongs and odds
Across the bottom: large sharp knives

And a drawer full of wooden spoons, chopsticks and silicone thingies.

There’s no right or wrong... it’s my way or the wrong way 😜

woodencoffeetable · 19/04/2020 08:10

knives forks spoon
then a dived compartment with teaspoons front and small sharp knives back

drumandthebass · 19/04/2020 08:11

Of course it forks-knives-spoons

pontiouspilates · 19/04/2020 08:12

Sorry, I'm with your DH on this.

CaptainPovey · 19/04/2020 08:21

@B0bbin

Same as you

Spoons - left
Forks - middle
Knives - right

Thamesis · 19/04/2020 08:40

@B0bbin surely it's knife fork spoon, as in the playground handstand game 'knife, fork, spoon...jellywobble'? Grin

Inforthelonghaul · 19/04/2020 08:40

My drawer is like yours OP. The other day they got moved round and it really bothered me. Took me 2 days to work out it was because someone had done forks, spoons and knives not spoons, forks, knives which is how it has always been.

B0bbin · 19/04/2020 08:44

Thanks for your replies. Really needed something frivolous to talk about. Grin
Next time, how do you arrange your crockery...?Wink

OutComeTheWolves · 19/04/2020 08:44

Your way is correct.

Tunnocks34 · 19/04/2020 08:45

Spoke, forks, knives and tea spoons

Tunnocks34 · 19/04/2020 08:45

Spoon not spoke

Triglesoffy · 19/04/2020 08:48

Forks knives spoons

And don’t forget the dishwasher. Each cutlery section has its own place as well. Woe betide anyone who puts a spoon in a fork compartment.

BillywigSting · 19/04/2020 08:54

Mtg its knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons along the bit on the bottom and random non sharp stuff to the left (garlic press, ice cream scoop, wooden spoons) , random sharp stuff (potato peeler, corkscrew, apple slicer) to the very bottom (closest to the handle of the drawer)

fishonabicycle · 19/04/2020 08:56

I do the same as you OP.

youngestisapsycho · 19/04/2020 09:03

I’m disappointed this thread didn’t involve pictures 🤷🏼‍♀️

LakieLady · 19/04/2020 09:04

Knives, forks, spoons. Anything else is a wilful perversity.

DP is exceedingly random when it comes to where to store things (he puts pants and socks in the same drawer ffs, so he has 2 drawers that both have socks and pants all jumbled together, the weirdo Shock).

Even he agrees that anything other than kinves, forks, spoons is just bizarre.

mangomama91 · 19/04/2020 09:06

I have mine like you
Spoon, fork, knife
And little spoons in front

boatyardblues · 19/04/2020 09:07

L>R: knives, forks, spoons. YABU.

mbhgfcbyyrrx · 19/04/2020 09:07

I've never thought about it! But I have knives, forks, spoons, little spoons... and a lot of crap on the side!

PenisBeakerDipper · 19/04/2020 09:07

*Knives, forks, spoons, tea spoons at bottom. Randoms (garlic press, corkscrew) in same drawer to the right of cutlery tray.

Exactly how it's laid out in the Janeway household*

And here too.

malmi · 19/04/2020 09:08

This is like people living hand to mouth. Don't you have any safety buffer? You use every last item of cutlery at every mealtime? I suggest you buy more cutlery so there will always be plenty left in the drawer to show what items go where.

Failing that, superglue one of each item in place as a marker.

ChippyMinton · 19/04/2020 09:09

OP ours is the same, Not a conscious decision though, just the layout of the drawer with a longer space for knives on the right.

It’s an Ikea tray, I think, so they must be right, yes?

PenisBeakerDipper · 19/04/2020 09:09

Oh no wait I read wrong, ours is forks, knives, spoons. Then teaspoons at the bottom.

I always have forks to the left as you would on the dinner table
