Spoons then forks then knives

In your cutlery drawer, do you have spoons on the left, then forks, then knives? That makes sense to me because when you lay them out on the table it's forks on left and knives on the right. My DH puts them away (wrong) as knives on left then forks then spoons, just because he says it sounds right- when you say, 'knives, forks, spoons.'
I'm fully aware of the current world problems which are affecting us all terribly. This is still important😉

Knife fork spoon is the only logical answer.

It is a clear sign that you are incompatible and you need to go your seperate ways.

CallmeIT · 19/04/2020 00:06

So many people getting it wrong. It’s forks, knives, spoons. Obvs.

jmh740 · 19/04/2020 00:08

Knife fork spoons in my house

tashakg89 · 19/04/2020 00:09

We've always had spoons forks and knifes. Can't imagine it any other way!

Insideout99 · 19/04/2020 00:09

Hmm we do spoons forks knives because my knives wouldn't fit the other way

B0bbin · 19/04/2020 00:09

Destroyer · 19/04/2020 00:11

Forks - knives - spoons

Hth

pinklillie · 19/04/2020 00:12

I'm sure my cutlery tray makes it Spoons, Forks and then knives. That's the way we have it anyway. My Scottish mum worked in catering and used to say there's your fork and knife when handing them over and often got mistaken for there's your fucking knife BlushShock

Forks, knives, tablespoons, teaspoons. The rest of you are MONSTERS.

Tereskova · 19/04/2020 00:13

We don't have dividers in the cutlery drawer. It makes unloading the dishwasher so much faster!

randomchap · 19/04/2020 00:14

I don't separate them, just put them all in the drawer together. It only takes a couple of seconds to find what's needed.

DishingOutDone · 19/04/2020 00:19

How weird is that, we just have it like that anyway and we don't know why.

Soontobe60 · 19/04/2020 00:20

Back of drawer has, from L-R knives, forks, dessert spoons.
Front has teaspoons, Ikea clips for food bags, section for corkscrew and other small implements section for serving spoons. Right hand side full length of drawer has longer utensils like wooden spoons.
Drawer underneath is VERY organised! LH side has foil, cling film, rolling pin, then a box with smaller things (grater, garlic press, potato ricer, hand blender, then on RH side a wooden knife block that all my sharp knives fit in.
Woe betide if anyone puts things back in th wrong place!

Slith · 19/04/2020 00:22

Knifes-forks-spoons.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 19/04/2020 00:25

You are a million percent right, OP. Your DH, my DH and apparently 66% of MNers are insane [walks off muttering 'it's SPOONS - FORKS - KNIVES, left to right, I thought everyone knew that...]

Glitteryone · 19/04/2020 00:27

You are correct

bellsbuss · 19/04/2020 00:30

Knives , forks, spoons, it would drive me crazy any other way.

TheGinGenie · 19/04/2020 00:32

Forks, knives, spoons

Littlebluebird123 · 19/04/2020 00:35

I think you're all wrong!
Forks, spoons, knives.
As that's how I'd lay the table, spoons on top obvs.
🤣

NewAccountForCorona · 19/04/2020 00:36

This conversation has been going on since I first joined Mumsnet in 2001, well before the toilet brush, laundry darkening shite.

It's knives, forks, spoons [gavel]

If, however, a family for some extraordinary reason decide that the order is spoons, forks, knives, that's (just about) ok.

The people who put spoons in the centre, however, should be shot.

ultrablue · 19/04/2020 00:36

Knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons, bag clip s, desert forks, chop sticks, random crap, then soup spoons and then more random crap... Oooh I feel fancy haha..

Duffmcstockings · 19/04/2020 00:51

Swap it round every time you clean the cutlery drawer. Keeps everyone on their toes.

anothermansmother · 19/04/2020 00:51

I have mine the same as you. Forks and knives have to be next to each other, then sharp knives ( not the kind you put in the dinning table) go next to the other knives. My mum Just shoves gets all in together and it drives me crazy!
So you're right.
