Spoons then forks then knives

In your cutlery drawer, do you have spoons on the left, then forks, then knives? That makes sense to me because when you lay them out on the table it's forks on left and knives on the right. My DH puts them away (wrong) as knives on left then forks then spoons, just because he says it sounds right- when you say, 'knives, forks, spoons.'
I'm fully aware of the current world problems which are affecting us all terribly. This is still important😉

We have 24 of each item!! Sometimes all the knives are used if there’s a lot of toast being eaten.

Elbbob · 19/04/2020 09:20

Mine don't lie L-R in the drawer but front to back - knives, forks, spoons. So with your husband!
I don't understand the table thing though. Should right handed people eat with their fork in their left hand? It makes no sense to me! I am right handed and use my fork in my right hand which seems more logical?

DennisTMenace · 19/04/2020 09:26

Forks, knives, spoons.

The fork and knife are in the place you find them on the table, so you can grab with the correct hand and lay out without shuffling around. Spoons are often used as a separate item and we are right handed, so it makes sense they are to the right. Teaspoons along the bottom.

YinuCeatleAyru · 19/04/2020 09:28

Cutlery drawer is knives, forks, spoons because that is the chronological order of using them during a meal

BlindTwitcher · 19/04/2020 09:34

I'm in the bath so can't check my drawer. And honestly can't remember....

I know spoons are far right though.

It's just however we first filled the drawer. As we never run it down to empty so the order doesn't change.

Itstheprinciple · 19/04/2020 09:41

We are the same as you OP.

LemonSquash94 · 19/04/2020 09:43

Spoon, fork then knife Grin

redwoodmazza · 19/04/2020 09:53

I 'file' them as I say it, from left to right, knives, forks and spoons.

Frlrlrubert · 19/04/2020 10:18

Spoons, forks, knives.
Teaspoons at the bottom.

I think forks, knives, spoons would also be acceptable, but never knives, forks, spoons.

ChristmasFluff · 19/04/2020 10:34

I do spoons, forks, knives too, OP.

Completely unconscious, but that's how my Mum did it so I guess I just followed her way.

Midlands working class, in case that has anything to do with it. I am now far more curious about people's drawers than I was.

Littlebluebird123 · 19/04/2020 10:36

Yay!
@grumpyfuckerr and @sanityisamyth

I've found my people.
And no, we shouldn't be shot. 🤣

BogRollBOGOF · 19/04/2020 10:52

Knives, forks, spoons.
The longer slot for sharper knives and other utensils is next to the knives.

HerBigChance · 19/04/2020 10:53

I don't have a thing that separates them; all cutlery is placed loosely in the drawer, mingling freely with one another at will.

JohnFinlaysNewTeeth · 19/04/2020 11:00

This thread has made me realise everyone is insane and tries to justify it with their own explanations.

JohnFinlaysNewTeeth · 19/04/2020 11:01

That being said it’s spoons, forks, knives in this house but for what reason I don’t have a clue.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 19/04/2020 11:06

@Littlebluebird123 @grumpyfuckerr and @sanityisamyth

Thank fuck there are some normal people here! Grin

mrsBtheparker · 19/04/2020 11:07

I am envious of people who can spare the time to agonise about such trivia!

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 19/04/2020 11:08

Oh I’ve never agonised mrsB as I’m right Grin

glueandstick · 19/04/2020 11:52

Fork knife spoon spoon

LakieLady · 19/04/2020 11:55

I know spoons are far right though

Those damn spoons, with their neo-Nazi ideology...

shadowpuss · 19/04/2020 11:55

I have spoons, forks, knives.... Any other way feels weird.

bluebeck · 19/04/2020 11:56

I do same same as you OP.

I remember MIL reorganising my cutlery drawer because I had it "all wrong"

Stupid bitch Grin

samandpoppysmummy · 19/04/2020 11:59

Knives, forks, spoons, left to right

Silab · 19/04/2020 12:05

No specific order if the ones that held knives and spoons are empty, they may well get swapped around as long as they are each in their own.
Just checked and it is currently knives spoons forks teaspoons.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 19/04/2020 12:08

Forks knives spoons.

If you lay tables you grab them and automatically have them in the right hand. Maybe having worked in restaurants made that my normal.
