To feel awful for Boris

YouDoYou18 · 15/04/2020 07:08

A few people I know have said some awful things like ‘it serves him right’

I didn’t vote conservative, and to be honest I’ve never been a big fan of BJ himself.. but Christ do I feel awful for the poor man.

He must have thought it was going to be relatively easy, brexit was almost over and we just had to get through the last little bit and then the world fell into one of the biggest disasters in recent history...

He’s got to balance trying to save a big percentage of the population with making sure they have an economy to return to when this is over, he’s got to pull unprecedented amounts of money from thin air to support everyone through this time, everyone thinks they can do a better job and then to top it off he catches the virus himself and ends up hospitalised!

He just can’t catch a break! Whether you like him or not surely I’m not being unreasonable in feeling pretty bad for the guy?

Dealing with disasters and hugely complex events comes with territory of being a PM, I'm afraid. Any politician knows this, but he still wanted the job, he wasn't conscripted into it.

And he knew that our public services were in a shocking state, following 10 years of cuts. He should surely have been aware that, if ghastly shit happened, the services that have to deal with it wouldn't be in the best state to do so.

As for party politics, can you imagine the opprobrium and ill-will that would have faced Corbyn had he been PM atm?

And

Hi Boris

megletthesecond · 15/04/2020 07:38

If you think Brexit was almost over you haven't been paying attention for almost four years.

I'm genuinely pleased he is on the mend but the rest is a mess of his own doing.

StealthPolarBear · 15/04/2020 07:39

"
Today 07:15Random18

He lied and cheated and pulled every dirty trick to get the job he wanted.

He even supported Brexit as he thought it would get him the job."
And then he ran away and hid.

Have you seen the list of MPs who voted against a pay rise for nurses? I'm sure they all stand outside and dutifully clap on Thursdays though. Applause puts food on the table and petrol in your car, right?

groundhogday01

Ffs They didn’t cheer!!!!!!!!!!!! Why don’t you look into things before believing everything you read.

YouDoYou18 · 15/04/2020 07:39

Okay so I’m being unreasonable. I still won’t ever vote conservative but I just can’t come to terms with thinking ‘it serves him right’, it’s something that just doesn’t sit right with me

Seriouslyastounded · 15/04/2020 07:40

I despair of the left, I really do. Why are you not worried about that leaked document that will hopefully bring down the party or worry about the new leader who let off Saville and the child grooming gangs?

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 15/04/2020 07:41

@Seriouslyastounded

Oh and if the left want to keep banging on about PPE, start blaming the NHS managers whose job it actually is

I suspect you know nothing about how the NHS is constructed, is directed or how it functions, but I’ll bite. Which managers are you referring to and what did you expect them to do?

Pixxie7 · 15/04/2020 07:42

Like other posters glad he is recovering on a human level. However as far as a politician goes, no way the austerity measures over the past decade has left so much damage and to some extent made the current situation far worse.

YouDoYou18 · 15/04/2020 07:42

And with regards to Brexit, I’m aware we still had all the trade deals, but I was really fed up with the constant arguments over us leaving. I voted remain and would again, but boy was I ready for that part to be over!

It’s not his job. It’s the £200k a year NHS mangers job. Look into it and stop reading left propaganda

Seriouslyastounded · 15/04/2020 07:45

pixxie7

The austerity measures that means we can afford to pay 80% of people salary for 3 months? Labour can’t run a bath never mind a country and the country knows this which is why Tories won and why they are way ahead in the polls.

LakieLady · 15/04/2020 07:46

*Since when has pumping billions more each year into the NHS ‘reducing funds’?

Every year the amount gets bigger. Can you explain?*

Because "medical inflation" is far, far higher than the normal inflation rate, because of new treatments, diagnostic developments etc. If the amount spent on health only increased in line with "household" inflation, we'd have little to offer but leeches and laudanum. I can remember when scanners first became a thinbg, and hospitals had to raise money to buy them by charitable appeals, ffs.

Add to that the fact that we have an increasingly high proportion of old and very old people who require a lot of healthcare and it's pretty obvious really.

Sally872 · 15/04/2020 07:46

I have never voted Tory. Don't like Boris.

But I am glad he is recovering as I would never wish him any harm. I think he is doing a decent job at the briefings I listen and am not irritated by him (like regular speeches).

IF he expected an easy time being PM he doesnt deserve sympathy. Of course nobody could foresee this. But i have to hope he was expecting a challenging role and up for that challenge. Perhaps he wasnt, if so he doesnt deserve sympathy for expecting an easy time. (I doubt that was his thinking though.)

IFancyANamechange · 15/04/2020 07:46

😂

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/04/2020 07:47

What part to be over? Brexit and its repercussions won’t be within the decade by which time we will be begging to get back in.

Shockers · 15/04/2020 07:47

Him contracting the virus was arguably the most fortunate thing that’s happened to him so far. He now has an almost saint- like status as ‘one of us’.

He’s not though, and he never will be- the man has no soul for the ordinary people. Paying lip service to nurses who have sat by his bedside is quite different to ensuring the NHS is a top priority, going forward from here.

spellconnoisseur · 15/04/2020 07:48

You’re not be unreasonable (despite your come-to-Jesus moment thanks to the response), but you were a bit silly to post this here.

PositiveVibez · 15/04/2020 07:48

The left never will because of their polarised views. It’s what makes them sheep

🙄 Sheep - because some can't pity a man who is a liar (proven) a cheat (proven), wanted to sell off the very NHS that has literally saved his life!

He is a disgrace of a man.

Glad he's still alive for his unborn child and the woman he cheated on his wife with and for all his other children (nobody actually knows how many he has fathered), but feel sorry for him, no fucking way.

And I'm not a sheep! FFS. I just let the facts speak for themselves.

Seriouslyastounded · 15/04/2020 07:50

wiseupjanetweiss

The same managers whose job it was to order in before this happened. There is more managers than doctors and nurses combined In the NHS but let’s let them off.

TeddyIsaHe · 15/04/2020 07:50

I feel sorry for his girlfriend, mainly because she has to see him naked.

I feel sorry for the drs and nurses and healthcare practioners he and his party have fucked over for 10 years.

I feel sorry for homeless people, anyone with mental health issues, anyone who isn’t rich and has struggled and didn’t receive the support they needed.

I do not feel sorry for a millionaire toff that cheered for nurses to not have a pay rise and whose voting record tells you everything you need to know about him.

suburbanwar · 15/04/2020 07:51

seriously we don't know how Labour would deal with this crisis or indeed the last ten years in government. It's all speculation.

However we have the facts on how the Conservatives have led the country throughout, and it's not good. Oh, and talking about propaganda, the media gives the Conservatives one hell of a pass in this country. The headline of "It Really Is A Good Friday" which one paper used to celebrate Johnson getting out of hospital, when our death toll was its highest in a day, was distasteful in the extreme.

Seriouslyastounded · 15/04/2020 07:52

positive ibez

The left wouldn’t know facts if they came up and punched them in the face. They read a made up story and treat it as fact. The threads on here about the 10k and cheering nurses not getting a pay rise should prove that but I suspect you are just like the rest of them
