My neighbour has ruined my night.

I'm bottom floor flat with my living room window on the street, no front garden. It's a busy street with everyone out walking as we're near a country park and it's a nice area to walk. So I like sitting of an evening watching everyone go by and loving all the dogs out for a evening's constitutional.
My neighbour has had the absolute cheek to park his big fucking van outside my window blocking my view of half the street. WIBU to chap his door and make up some story as to why he needs to move it?
This is the biggest parking drama ever to happen in the street as everyone is very respectful and considerate so I may be overreacting. Slightly.

Are you joking? If it is a public street with no parking restrictions he can park there.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/04/2020 16:34

If it's a public street, you have no say on where anyone parks.

TheQueef · 14/04/2020 16:36

Sharpie a landscape scene on the side.

LakieLady · 14/04/2020 16:38

I'm liking your style, @TheQueef!

whiteroom · 14/04/2020 16:38

You probably wouldn't be unreasonable to ask him nicely, but if he's parked legally there's not a lot you can do unfortunately. Would he be blocking someone else's view if he moved.

BanKittenHeels · 14/04/2020 16:38

You are being completely unreasonable. As in 100%. And a bit stupid too.

LongPauseNoReply · 14/04/2020 16:39

OP if you didn't buy your x-ray specs before lockdown then it's your own fault Grin

PeytonManning · 14/04/2020 16:39

Namechanger, it’s perfectly obvious the OP’s tongue is firmly in their cheek!

You’re nbu OP. The entitled bastard robbing you of your view of dogs peeing. The very cheek!

HeartyGreenSalad · 14/04/2020 16:39

It has probably never crossed his mind. Just explain it to him nicely. If he moves he moves

Bridecilla · 14/04/2020 16:40

I can see why you'd be narked. I'd try to ask as nicely as possible though and avoid being arsey with him. I bet he's not even thought about it and doesn't mean any harm. Can he park elsewhere easily?

daisypond · 14/04/2020 16:40

He hasn’t done anything wrong, though. Can you not go for a nice walk yourself?

Pimmsypimms · 14/04/2020 16:41

Could be worse op, your neighbours could have woken you up at 4am screaming, fighting, banging doors, smashing things up and getting the police involved.
This could have gone on until 7am. These are my neighbours and they definitely ruined my night.
Wish I only had to worry about a van blocking my view 🤷‍♀️

Washyourhandsyoufilthyanimal · 14/04/2020 16:42

Reverse?

Bufferingkisses · 14/04/2020 16:42

Oh op, you've committed a terrible sin! Don't you know you can only post on MN at the moment if you are SERIOUS. If you are and post something lighthearted it will be treated as if it were SERIOUS and you will be berated accordingly! Grin

Look up paintings in mud on Vans, there are some incredible ideas!

MrsJackRackham · 14/04/2020 16:42

Jeez, I forgot to put light-hearted Sad I'm clearly not going to ask him to move. Although it is a utilities van so I might phone the helpline with an emergency so he gets called out and I can move my car into the space 🤔

OP posts:
Bufferingkisses · 14/04/2020 16:44

Are = err!

TheQueef · 14/04/2020 16:46

Should have a decent roof rack if it's utilities...
Decamp to the top of the van, take a lounger etc and drinks, ideal height for social distancing.

QuacksInTheDark · 14/04/2020 16:49

You sound like my dad! He was livid a few months that my neighbour had parked his transit outside my house blocking my view... of the house across the road 😂 I told him to wind his neck in. He doesn’t even live with me!

angelikacpickles · 14/04/2020 16:50

My goodness, have people had a humour bypass. The OP was clearly tongue in cheek.

mumwon · 14/04/2020 16:51

periscope Grin

wildthingsinthenight · 14/04/2020 16:51

Kill him

MrsJackRackham · 14/04/2020 16:53

Oh he does have a roof rack Smile
He usually parks further down which doesn't block nosey bastard's people's view.

OP posts:
MrsJackRackham · 14/04/2020 16:54

DDog is fed raw so killing him and disposing of the body is no issue Wink

OP posts:
UnaCorda · 14/04/2020 16:55

Is "chap his door" a real expression, or a typo/autocorrect? I'd never heard of "knock on" before MN either.

weliveincrazytimes · 14/04/2020 17:01

TheQueef Tue 14-Apr-20 16:36:11 Sharpie a landscape scene on the side.

^Definitely this. If you kill him there would be no one to move the van unless you stole the keys, then there's the problem of disposing of the van. Far too complicated. Draw a lovely landscape along the side of his van and put up a sign indicating people to walk between the van and your view.
