I'm bottom floor flat with my living room window on the street, no front garden. It's a busy street with everyone out walking as we're near a country park and it's a nice area to walk. So I like sitting of an evening watching everyone go by and loving all the dogs out for a evening's constitutional.
My neighbour has had the absolute cheek to park his big fucking van outside my window blocking my view of half the street. WIBU to chap his door and make up some story as to why he needs to move it?
This is the biggest parking drama ever to happen in the street as everyone is very respectful and considerate so I may be overreacting. Slightly.

una chap the door is a well used phrase in Scotland, didn't realise it was a regional expression.
Welive damnit, killing him would create more problems that it solves. I'll go back to giving the van a dirty look every ten minutes, that'll teach him Grin

A parking problem without a diagram! Tut tut tut. You know the rules, it didn’t happen if there isn’t a diagram!

CoolCarrie · 14/04/2020 17:09

Chap the door means knock on the door, we also say clap the dog means pat the dog in Scotland.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 14/04/2020 17:10

@QuacksInTheDark my mum and dad were exactly the same when I first moved into my current house. They were outraged that my neighbour parked his work van outside my window and not his. I really couldn't have cared less.

ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother · 14/04/2020 17:11

What's far far worse than the van blocking your view is you referring to you dog as ddog, why oh why, just say dog 😏

GinDrinker00 · 14/04/2020 17:12

But where’s the diagram? Can’t have a CF parking thread without one! Shock

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 14/04/2020 17:14

Draw the diagram on the van and then photograph it....

Tin opener? Cut yourself a vision tunnel through the offending vehicle ...

GalactiCat · 14/04/2020 17:15

I hope you've logged it with 101 Grin

Davespecifico · 14/04/2020 17:17

You could ask if he’d mind moving it. If seeing out is helping you get through lockdown, I don’t think you’d be wrong to ask him, in a kind of light hearted way.

Grin at "chap the door" it is a Scottish phrase , like "ma bit" ( where I live"

OP you could be worse , he could drive a Day-Glo Orange Dyno-Rod Van .....

SoupDragon · 14/04/2020 17:32

chap the door is a well used phrase in Scotland

Something I only learnt through MN. MN has been very useful in expanding my understanding of regional language!

My elderly mum used to live in a terrace house which had no front garden so opened directly onto the narrow pavement in the street outside. A man who lived at the top of the street regularly parked his large van immediately outside my mum’s house, blocking the light from her living room window. One day she asked him why he didn’t park outside his own house, and his reply was - ‘ it blocks the light and view from my window’. Bastard!

purplecorkheart · 14/04/2020 17:35

What about getting a deckchair and setting it up on the roof of the van?

The cheek of him. Stick a large note in your window to tell him he obstructed your view. Grin

Bargebill19 · 14/04/2020 17:37

Could you plater some nice enlarged pictures of beautiful landscaping on the side of his van? Blue tak won’t damage the paint?!

TheSquitz · 14/04/2020 17:37

Best diagram ever 😂

Northernwarrior · 14/04/2020 17:38
