My neighbour has ruined my night.

I'm bottom floor flat with my living room window on the street, no front garden. It's a busy street with everyone out walking as we're near a country park and it's a nice area to walk. So I like sitting of an evening watching everyone go by and loving all the dogs out for a evening's constitutional.
My neighbour has had the absolute cheek to park his big fucking van outside my window blocking my view of half the street. WIBU to chap his door and make up some story as to why he needs to move it?
This is the biggest parking drama ever to happen in the street as everyone is very respectful and considerate so I may be overreacting. Slightly.

I’ve seen some start havering when they are wanking. It could be argued that the two are linked.

TopShelf · 14/04/2020 21:46

That's the first MN parking diagram I've ever understood. I nominate
OP official MN parking artist. Grin

WhenDoesTheWashingEnd · 14/04/2020 21:55

I haven't read every single reply in full detail, though I have read most and thoroughly examined the diagram.

How has no one suggested a strongly worded note which goes on at length about how your neighbour has not only spoiled your view but ruined your entire afternoon and evening, subsequently causing your DP to suffer also having had his CIA programme utterly ruined which is obviously your neighbours fault.

Are there children who may also have suffered as a result and will be traumatised for some years hereafter that you can mention too??

... Actually that sounds like a lot of effort.
But I dare you to put your diagram on his windscreen! Grin

AnneOfTeenFables · 15/04/2020 11:26

Leaving the diagram on his windscreen is a brilliant idea Grin

notchickenagain · 15/04/2020 11:38

I'm another one wondering about those poor cat/rabbit walkers. Normally have a ringside view of op and dp watching tv and now just the side of a van! Hopefully they will leave a note on his windscreen.

Tessabelle74 · 15/04/2020 17:27

So many people seem to have lost their sense of humour Hmm

lloydee1983 · 15/04/2020 17:34

Loool, nothing to see here

Michellelovesizzy · 15/04/2020 17:43

My oh has a van.... its a big van and it is anyoin i hate it but its his living and also has tools in it so he does like to wear he can c. But if r neighbour knocked and explained the sisuation he would always try and move. It is lockdown and u cant go out i would ask him he probably has no idea its such a big deal 4 u

MyWitzEnd · 15/04/2020 17:46

You are annoyed cos he stopped you spying?!

MadMadaMim · 15/04/2020 17:48

Terrible dilemma. Great sketch.

Before going down the 'feed him to the dog route' it may be worth knocking round and asking if he could possibly move it as it's blocking your view which, normally, wouldn't be an issue, but during these strange lockdown times, is much more impacting.

I'm betting he'd move it no probs. And be apologetic

jackie2669 · 15/04/2020 17:57

No you are not..he does have a right to park there but watching the world go by could be the only thing keeping you sane stuck in .Do you know him is he usually nice just explain nicely he may move for you .

Charlotteskye · 15/04/2020 18:04

I would politely ask him to move his van so you can enjoy your evening pleasure watching oeople. We need to have a few pleasures im sure he will understsnd and if not ask him if you can sit on his roof.

Justontherightsideofnormal · 15/04/2020 18:09

In all honesty I’d politely ask him to move it down the street if there is space and make a joke about your struggling to people watch.

bluebeck · 15/04/2020 18:12

Can we please stop with all this "politely" shit? Grin

Where's the fun in that? This is a Mumsnet Parking thread folks - dial up the crazy!!!

JWrecks · 15/04/2020 18:13

@MrsJackRackham Do many people walk their cats in your street? In your diagram, the top left one is definitely a cat.

Hingeandbracket · 15/04/2020 18:18

I love hearing new phrases on here too, especially Scottish ones
Me too - anything for a bit of regional colour - I loved finding out the letter J is pronounced differently - and then I spent some time in Norn Iron and got a whole load of new words and phrases - Happy Days.

Hingeandbracket · 15/04/2020 18:19

Best diagram ever OP.

Everydayishistorytomorrow · 15/04/2020 18:22

OP are you saying he has parked across your window blocking out your light also. If so he is not allowed to do that. Can you post a pic.

Everydayishistorytomorrow · 15/04/2020 18:25

Wow, we have some vicious posters here. Hopefully it's just temporary madness caused by lockdown. I hate to think so many parents are inconsiderate phucks! OP did not state legally or illegally so we do not really have a full picture. People do like to assume going by the comments.

Libbee49 · 15/04/2020 18:40

Road belongs to council unless marked so he can park there. Just ask him nicely if he can move left or right a bit so you can see out. Understand your need to be able to view outside.

HeyDuggeewhatchadoin · 15/04/2020 18:45

How much more expensive is feeding the dog raw food @MrsJackRackham @Cherrysoup?

Biddie191 · 15/04/2020 18:50

Liking the tin opener idea, to be fair., or the swapping houses - it'd be like going on holiday.
If you do knock on the door, you can't do so naked - you need your mask and gloves on.

honeybee88 · 15/04/2020 18:54

Aaah a blank canvas. Crayons...chalk....spray paint? Lol. If I was your neighbour I would move my van if I could. Providing you are a nice neighbour usually. I had a neighbour who would hammer on my door 11.30 pm to let me know I had parked ONE inch too far down the road so he couldn't get his car into HIS space when he got back drunk from the pub! On the first occasion when he knocked I told him sorry I have had a drink so I will move it in the morning. Lol

Nearly47 · 15/04/2020 19:00

Please put that diagram on the wipers! With the addition of a crying emogi. I am sure he will be moved and move the van

CherryBlossomPink · 15/04/2020 19:02

I’m really struggling with your diagram. Before I saw it, in my imagination the van was facing the other way. I can’t get past this - my evening now also ruined thinking about how to turn the van around to set things right in my head.
I may have a little too much time on my hands today.
