My neighbour has ruined my night.

I'm bottom floor flat with my living room window on the street, no front garden. It's a busy street with everyone out walking as we're near a country park and it's a nice area to walk. So I like sitting of an evening watching everyone go by and loving all the dogs out for a evening's constitutional.
My neighbour has had the absolute cheek to park his big fucking van outside my window blocking my view of half the street. WIBU to chap his door and make up some story as to why he needs to move it?
This is the biggest parking drama ever to happen in the street as everyone is very respectful and considerate so I may be overreacting. Slightly.

When I lived in a a terrace my neighbour had a big van and I discussed it with him as I has no natural light if he parked in front of my house, he was happy to park elsewhere and on the odd occasion he couldn’t it was fine, he was considerate as he could be, a good neighbour. Speak to them politely.

B1rdbra1n · 14/04/2020 17:43

sprinkle salt around his van while walking counter clockwise and recite the lords prayer backwards

UpAndGoing · 14/04/2020 17:43

To be honest I would do the same thing... yanbu!

WTFpeople · 14/04/2020 17:44

I think you should photograph his van from your window and then print out a large copy of it and stick the copy to his window so when he looks out he gets the same view.

Hippee · 14/04/2020 17:45

Shame it's not a white van - you could project those lovely screensaver pictures you get on the computer or TV onto it. Even better, persuade someone with a box van to park there.

Alternatively, chalk "Ministry of Silly Walks" on either end of the pavement and see whether you can get people to entertain you on the way past.

anothernotherone · 14/04/2020 17:50

Although obviously it's light hearted etc etc it is thoughtless and selfish, as Walkingthedog46 's example illustrates...

Our neighbours have an oversized long wheelbase extra height van and don't park it on their drive because it "takes up space" - instead they park it on the road where it seriously obstructs the line of sight and therefore makes getting out of our drive dangerous, meaning we have to park on the road too. Yes they are entitled blah, blah, blah, but it's a repeated and consistent minor act of arseholery.

SentimentalKiller · 14/04/2020 17:51

How fucking dare they.
Log it with 101

TerrorWig · 14/04/2020 17:52

That’s odd, I can see myself in your drawing AND YET I do not live in Scotland Hmm.

Me thinks there is trollery afoot! Grin

Sparklingplasters · 14/04/2020 17:52

Can you draw a giant willy in the dirt on the van? It’s the only way

Grabbner · 14/04/2020 17:55

Love the diagram.

Do you know anyone who could steal the van?

anothernotherone · 14/04/2020 17:55

Our neighbours' van already has a giant cock on it! They put it there themselves as part of their company logo!

They don't appreciate the irony as we don't live in an English speaking country and it's a cockerel type of cock, but still, it's satisfying somehow...

Gallade · 14/04/2020 17:55

An excellent diagram, OP.

I vote for Sparklings suggestion above.

MamaBearLockdown · 14/04/2020 17:56

Unfortunately, if he is parking in front of his own building he is absolutely right.

Depends how busy your streets are. Around here, quite a few elderly people have started to spend hours on a chair, or the existing benches, on their front garden. It's great - they see people and feel less isolated, and are safe that way. Only a fuckwit would park a massive van to block their view instead of parking in front of their own home.

lyralalala · 14/04/2020 17:59

Best diagram ever Grin

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/04/2020 18:00

"Of an evening"

Cringe

EthelMayFergus · 14/04/2020 18:01

That's one of the best diagrams I've seen on here. Are you a professional artist? Also, what type of dog have you that 'eats raw' Shock

Prisonbreak · 14/04/2020 18:02

You sound like a nightmare

MrsJackRackham · 14/04/2020 18:03

Lots of great ideas however most of them involve me actually moving off the couch and therefore not at option.
I know far too many people who can steal a van Smile
I keep glaring at it and DP has told me to wind my neck in and if he promises to move our car into the space if it becomes available can I please stop huffing because I'm ruining some CIA documentary he's watching GrinGrin

TroysMammy · 14/04/2020 18:03

Do you have an upstairs room looking out over the street? You'd have a better view up there as you can look a bit further left and right.

daisypond · 14/04/2020 18:04

Thank you, those explaining about chap the door. I’ve never heard of that expression.

Standrewsschool · 14/04/2020 18:05

Good drawing!

MamaBearLockdown · 14/04/2020 18:05

beautiful diagram!

Standrewsschool · 14/04/2020 18:06

CIA documentary -maybe he can get some ideas.

MrsJackRackham · 14/04/2020 18:08

Ethel not professional, no. However I do have my art O grade and I feel it does show.
He's a Whippet, we feed him a raw diet. Raw meat, offal, bones etc. He loves it and his coat is beautiful on it.
