My neighbour has ruined my night.

I'm bottom floor flat with my living room window on the street, no front garden. It's a busy street with everyone out walking as we're near a country park and it's a nice area to walk. So I like sitting of an evening watching everyone go by and loving all the dogs out for a evening's constitutional.
My neighbour has had the absolute cheek to park his big fucking van outside my window blocking my view of half the street. WIBU to chap his door and make up some story as to why he needs to move it?
This is the biggest parking drama ever to happen in the street as everyone is very respectful and considerate so I may be overreacting. Slightly.

No willie drawing opportunity unfortunately. The only thing going for the van is it's clean.

I'm surprised at some of these responses.

There's a neighbour two doors down who parks his huge van on the pavement directly outside my elderly neighbour's house. My neighbour spends the day in his front room and now can't see anything except the blacked out windows of the van. The van's there 24/7. It's utterly selfish and is only there so that it doesn't block the van driver's own view.

QuestionableMouse · 14/04/2020 18:16

I'm impressed by your drawing skills op.

Think you should post it through his letter box. That'll learn him.

RoaryMouth · 14/04/2020 18:18

I also live in a ground floor flat with no garden and have suffered the same fate. Bloody awful - view ruined, light blocked. Speak to fella (from distance) and perhaps he'll move it. I didn't - I blew up after it was repeatedly parked there and he heard me. Also moved the van. Blush

opticaldelusion · 14/04/2020 18:28

I get it. I used to live in a little terraced house right on to the street. My neighbour had a fluorescent orange/red/pink Dynorod van that he occasionally parked right outside my house meaning I had no view whatsoever and a bright orange sitting room. He was accommodating though and if I asked him to move it, e.g. if it was going to be parked there all weekend, he would.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/04/2020 18:30

Your dp is a spoilsport. Bet he won’t even let you feed the dog! 😬

iklboo · 14/04/2020 18:31

Me thinks there is trollery afoot!

Trollery a-hoof, surely

Have you cut the van in half in your diagram OP?

Are you Derren Brown or Dynamo (or similar)?

whataboutbob · 14/04/2020 19:11

I get that it’s annoying. We’re 1st floor flat and someone did it over Christmas with a white van a couple of years ago. It was there for 2 weeks, big ugly hulk staring back at me every time I looked out of the window. I hated the look of it so bad after a couple of days.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/04/2020 19:16

Throw breadcrumbs over the van from an upstairs window and do some bird watching.

So what if a few pigeons crap on it.

HelloTerrance · 14/04/2020 19:26

Wow some posters really missed the point. I thought I had wondered into the twilight zone there.

Leave the van, demand he swaps houses immediately.

Jux · 14/04/2020 19:33

Just ask him nicely to do you a favour. Honestly, if you simply ask, and tell him how much joy you derive from watching the street, then if he's a normal person he'll do his best to find a sensible other place to park.

Cherrysoup · 14/04/2020 19:52

That's one of the best diagrams I've seen on here. Are you a professional artist? Also, what type of dog have you that 'eats raw'

That is a truly epic drawing, OP.

Lots of dogs are raw fed, mine included. Tons of FB pages about it.

Some of the responses on here are fabulous! 😂

momtoboys · 14/04/2020 19:58

I am going to come down on the clearly not popular side. I can understand that this change to what you feel is a nice part of your day has been compromised.

If you feel that strongly about it go and explain to the neighbor exactly what you told us (don't make something up) and see if they could find another place to park.

I hope it all works out for you. It sounds like a nice way to end your day.

bluebeck · 14/04/2020 20:03

I love the idea of sticking the lovely diagram under his wipers, so it's facing inside Grin

missmouse101 · 14/04/2020 20:04

Yes, yabu to say 'of an evening ', but yanbu to draw a big willy in the dirt on the van!

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 14/04/2020 20:04

It's a good diagram, but I would have at least expected some colours or pretty stamps. Mumsnet diagrams are legendary- must do better!

MrsJackRackham · 14/04/2020 20:29

It's still there Angry
No stamps, stickers or colours, sorry.
I'm in my line drawing phase.
If he parks there again tomorrow the drawing is going under the wiper.

I absolutely laughed my head off at your diagram OP so thank you - and I'm sorry your marvellous OP attracted all the sourpusses in force before anyone with a sense of humour turned up

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/04/2020 20:58

I should add that if you do follow my suggestion and throw breadcrumbs over it I will take that as prima facie evidence that you are a hoarder and call a Constable forthwith.

I am sure he will be able to work out your location from the hidden clues in your diagram.

AnneOfTeenFables · 14/04/2020 21:04

OP your handwriting is very like my DSIS' . Are you my DSIS?

Sheldonesque · 14/04/2020 21:15

I would chap on his windae.

And stand, like Andrew Lincoln in Love Actually, with flash cards.

Explaining that you are clarty with a virus and you would love to be able to watch folk go by your windae - with or without dogs - and would he mind, given the circumstances, moving his van so that you can feel as though you are part of the world.

If he feels that he can’t be arsed, you will be ok with that but will hire a muckspreader to clart his house so that he knows what it’s like to hae a shite view.

Sign off with kissies.

Job daen Grin

PennyNotSoWise · 14/04/2020 21:17

10/10 for the diagram 🤣 I notice those dog walkers are staring straight into your window. I wonder if they'll be as annoyed at the van blocking their view of you viewing them 🤔

I love hearing new phrases on here too, especially Scottish ones. Though I was disappointed to learn that havering, as in I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you, meant babbling (or similar). I assumed it meant wanking for some reason 😳

Nitpickpicnic · 14/04/2020 21:19

Go and knock on his door and ask nicely. I think it’s important you do it stark naked. A view for a view...it’s only fair.
