Is it just every week we are in lockdown or is that it forever and we have become a nation of clappers? Do I need to move?

Oh yes, Tory safe seat here too.

Appiandterri · 09/04/2020 20:15

Even the TV said they were pausing programmes for the clap FFS

Me & my neighbour are HCP. No, we didn’t go out and clap.

My cat was ambling back from his stroll and very confused as it looked like everyone was applauding him
Love it! Smile

@SassenachWitch I wonder if you live near me, or whether this is becoming nationwide, the horns, the pots, the you'll never walk alone

YouDoYou18 · 09/04/2020 20:15

I really don’t understand why this bothers people so much. I have young children and the bedtime thing doesn’t bother me, I don’t alway get a chance to join in but I don’t see any harm either. People just want to say thank you, does it matter if they do that by clapping? I’ve got friends that work in A&E and on wards and they’ve described the feeling of having the worst day ever and being exhausted and then suddenly people are clapping you and really lifting you back up. I really don’t see the problem in people wanting to keep spirits high, it lasts 5-10 minutes max!

Samcro · 09/04/2020 20:15

I like it, it only lasted a few min here.

happyandsingle · 09/04/2020 20:15

ClientQ that made me laugh. He's going to expect it every night now!

Yester · 09/04/2020 20:16

Well we are as Labour stronghold but clapped loudly. 2 paramedixcs, 3 nurses and lots of carers live on our street.

chickenyhead · 09/04/2020 20:16

here it seems to be a. mass social event. Terraced houses and social distancing don't work

orangejuicer · 09/04/2020 20:16

I can hardly turn the tv up when I'm trying to get my child to sleep!

I'd love to know if every fucker clapping is also donating to Shield NHS or one of the other GoFundMe variations.

I'm not clapping, but I'm donating.

My midwife friend was asked why she wasn't out clapping last week. Confused

NW2SW · 09/04/2020 20:16

Someone near us played Bob Marley Don't worry on full blast Hmm and is now using it as an excuse to have a really shit disco that we all have to endure.

Lovelydovey · 09/04/2020 20:17

Gentle clapping here - a way to show respect and support when there is practically little you can do, and a way to check that the neighbours (who you haven’t seen all week) are still ok.

Sirzy · 09/04/2020 20:17

Everyone out here, was lovely to see everyone out with everyone doing a quick check in to make sure everyone was ok

Moomin12345 · 09/04/2020 20:17

Does that mean that everyone will get clapping for doing their jobs?

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 09/04/2020 20:17

I don’t think it’s and issue if it’s two minutes of clapping but yeah it now seems to go on longer every week, like it’s a competition who is louder and who carries on for the longest. 5 minutes here.

Solina · 09/04/2020 20:17

I once again didn't know it was happening. Not that I would have been out clapping anyways, I think there are far better ways to show appreciation (like staying in for starters). I do feel like the neighbours might be judging us as they were all out from what I could hear and see. Oh well...

Barrique · 09/04/2020 20:17

Don’t clap. Throw money.

DryHeave · 09/04/2020 20:17

My husband is at the hospital working. It was nice to go out and join the street clapping.

madcatladyforever · 09/04/2020 20:18

I'm the only NHS person in my village and everyone gathers round my huse to clap (2m apart obvy) and although I really appreciate the sentiment I feel as embarrassed as hell.

DareToTiger · 09/04/2020 20:18

Tory seat here too. Sad

selfisolatingsince2007 · 09/04/2020 20:19

This is the thread everyone needs, how long will it go on for? In my street they call got in their cars and honked the horns.

EmmaBridgewater20 · 09/04/2020 20:19

We’re clearly a street of assholes - no one out clapping. They’ve shown a few streets on C4 news tonight and only one of them looked like they were practicing any social distancing, the first three they showed everyone was grouped together out on the pavements!!!

LilacTree1 · 09/04/2020 20:21

It’s terrible in tiny blocks of flats.

No pots and pans but clapping here. Nice to see all the neighbours out. Feels community spirited to join in even if DH insisted nobody will be out this week due to the cringe factor.

We're widely spaced so many metres apart. Everyone turned out apart from one neighbour I know was asleep in his chair Grin

Pinksunday1210 · 09/04/2020 20:21

I’ve got a load of twats on Facebook posting about how selfish people are by not clapping my, “hope they never need to use the nhs!” Why? Will they be turned away because they didn’t clap Grin
