Sincerely hope he does a Macmillan and resigns, makes a full recovery in retirement then goes on to a great age as a statesman and national treasure.

MissConductUS · 06/04/2020 21:57

Can someone explain how Boris is now in ICU but the Prince recovered so fast even though he is much older

The bad news is that we don't know what all of the predictors are for severe cases. It could be something that we're completely overlooking at the moment.

The good news is that considering the very short time it's been studied we know quite a bit about the virus and there is so much research being done that our level of understanding is growing quite rapidly.

So sorry about Boris, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Jellybean27 · 06/04/2020 21:58
  • Listening to the news about it just being a "precaution" makes my heart sink, no-one gets moved to ICU in the middle of a pandemic as a precaution.

I was thinking the same @LagunaBubbles

Samcro · 06/04/2020 22:00

Not a tory fan, but really hope he is ok.

The80sweregreat · 06/04/2020 22:01

Prince Charles just seems more robust. I don't think he smokes, isn't overweight and probably gets stuck into gardening and other fitness type activities. He just seems in better shape.
His stress levels are also not on the same level as someone who is PM. Especially with all this going on.
Boris was also around so many more people too.

WouldShouldCould · 06/04/2020 22:01

Agree, and I don't think they would announce he has been moved to ICU unless it was very serious. It's really shocked me, will add him to my prayers.

Sexnotgender · 06/04/2020 22:03

Indeed, a “precaution” in the same way he was in for tests yesterday.

Viviennemary · 06/04/2020 22:03

I'm beginning to think there are at least two strains of this virus.

Doobababarah · 06/04/2020 22:03

Very much wishing boris a very speedy recovery.

Bluntness100 · 06/04/2020 22:03

Agree, they need to stop saying it’s a precaution. I know they are trying to downplay it, but no one is hospitalised on a Sunday night as a precaution, as I said yesterday, and now no one is put in intensive care just in case.

You’re hospitalised on a Sunday night because you need to be hospitalised, and You’re in intensive care because that’s the treatment you now need.

There are lots of factors, really.

  • viral load. Boris went on Covid wards and shook hands with patients. He also shook hands with lots of political figures.
  • stress levels.
  • overall health. Boris smokes, is overweight and has underlying health issues. Charles on the other hand is slimmer and a non smoker and spends a lot of time out doors.
  • sheer dumb luck.
formerbabe · 06/04/2020 22:04

Not a tory fan, but really hope he is ok

I find comments like this really odd. Surely it goes without saying that you don't wish harm to someone purely on the basis that their political views are different to yours? Confused

MyNameIsArthur · 06/04/2020 22:05

Praying for Boris. Hope he gets through this. Is very upsetting. You are in our thoughts Boris!

astropoodle · 06/04/2020 22:05

Probably being treated better than the other poor people who've succumbed to it

While he might be in a hospital with better facilities than others , the nhs professionals will be working as hard as they do for any patient.

A couple of Doctor's offering their perspective on Boris being moved to ICU

Rhea1981 · 06/04/2020 22:05

I'm so upset for him. I really hope he's going to be ok. I think he's a great prime minister and I really like him. Its just so horrible and scary and people still saying nasty things about him are making me making me so angry.

BunnytheBee · 06/04/2020 22:05

What’s the relevance of it being a Sunday night again?

astropoodle · 06/04/2020 22:06

No idea, it's Monday

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 06/04/2020 22:06

I don't get all the need to put a "not a Tory fan" before a lot of comments, or "can't abide his politics"
Neither can I, but what does that have to do with the price of fish?
As a human with empathy towards others, I just want him to get well soon.

1000atfc5423 · 06/04/2020 22:06

@undecided91 Not sure what you don't understand. You do know ALL diseases affect people differently right?

For your education - Here's an article of a WW2 vet aged 104 who recovered.

Applejaxx · 06/04/2020 22:06

Prince Charles strikes as being a bit of an alternative health nut with his love of organic produce and homeopathy. He's also very outdoorsy and fit. I don't think he smokes either. That would explain why he has recovered well.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 06/04/2020 22:07

No idea, it's Monday

Grin Or the 32nd of Blahsday like I saw on FB earlier lol
11112222 · 06/04/2020 22:10

how bad do you need to be to be in icu?

EasterBuns · 06/04/2020 22:15

Two weeks ago I when they were holding the daily press conference in a room packed full I remember thinking they were not following their own guidance.
I suspect the reason he has a more serious illness has to do with viral load, we now know several of the people he was working with at that time have had it.

ThirtyAndASmidgen · 06/04/2020 22:17

I really hope one of the changes that eventually comes out of this crisis is that people working themselves into the ground while unwell, and infecting others, stops. Being ill is not a sign of weakness.
