So sad about this. Really hope he rallies round, I've missed his positivity during the daily press updates.

His fiancee and family must be going through hell now, like thousands of other families who have a loved one in intensive care. All made worse by the fact they're probably not allowed to be at his bedside, because the risk of catching the virus is just too high.

Come on Boris, we're all rooting for you.

CeibaTree · 06/04/2020 22:18

How do people know he is a smoker?

panicstationsready · 06/04/2020 22:18

I wonder if his father now realises how serious this is?

RosesandIris · 06/04/2020 22:20

It can’t have helped at all that he was trying to work and appear to be okay. He must have been very worried about his partner who was ill at the same time and pregnant. Awful, really hope he pulls through.

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 06/04/2020 22:21

He must be having better treatment than your average Joe to be moved next to ventilator if he doesn’t need one right?
If so then he would be a better chance of surviving this.

PumpkinPie2016 · 06/04/2020 22:23

Sad poor Boris - I hope he gets better soon, as I do with everyone else who is suffering from covid-19. Carrie Symonds must be frantic-poor woman.

Prince Charles probably recovered quicker because he didn't have the same workload/stresses/lack of sleep as Boris does.

CollaborativeBee · 06/04/2020 22:24

He is in ICU but not on a ventilator so his odds are better than 50:50
It's not that bad.

HappyHammy · 06/04/2020 22:25

ITU isn't just about ventilators. They administer drugs that need constant monitoring, a very high level of care, lots of patients are moved to critical care units because they need close monitoring which isn't always feasible on a ward,

Pickles89 · 06/04/2020 22:27

@Leaannb

How terribly sad. Poor little munchkin.

Thank you so much for all that you're doing. Flowers

Griselda1 · 06/04/2020 22:29

A friend of mine was giving details to work colleagues by mobile from his hospital bed at 9.00am and was being ventilated by midday. He's now been ventilated for ten days and is going through organ failure. Grim tale but deterioration seems to happen very quickly.I wish the PM the very best.

BlackeyedSusan · 06/04/2020 22:33

Oh shit

koshkatt · 06/04/2020 22:40

Griselda1 that is heartbreaking.

Chickydoo · 06/04/2020 22:42

Get well Boris 💐

Theflushedzebra · 06/04/2020 22:45

This is awful news. I'm no Boris fan, but I really hope he pulls through. Sad

Apart from anything, we need someone (Not Raab!) in charge Shock

SlipSlidin · 06/04/2020 22:47

Money, social position? It means nothing to a deadly virus.

Whatever your politics

Whatever your religion

Pray for BoJo

TheTiaraManager · 06/04/2020 22:49

Wishing him a speedy recovery. I hope this hits home to those still not following the rules and guidance

TheTiaraManager · 06/04/2020 22:50

Sorry I meant as Boris is such a public figure and someone people can picture. As it seeks the statistics aren't scaring people

EC22 · 06/04/2020 22:57

I think we are being drip fed information. I don’t believe it’s the whole truth. I won’t be surprised if he is already ventilated they’re just not telling us, yet.

JudyCoolibar · 06/04/2020 23:02

I do hope he gets well soon but I am confused that a few hours ago he was in good spirits

I doubt that he was. It's pretty clear that they've been downplaying this consistently. 24 hours ago he was allegedly just in overnight for a few precautionary tests, and we were sceptical then.

starlightgazers · 06/04/2020 23:02

It's not that bad

Disagree with you there. Boris looked horribly sick last Thursday, and has deteriorated pretty rapidly since that time. I don't rate his chances tbh, middle aged, obese, previous pneumonia, huge stress levels, possible co-morbidities as well as a smoking history/ possible other substances.

I feel sorry for him and those close to him, and hope I'm wrong.

Fluffybutter · 06/04/2020 23:03

This really worried me when the news flash popped up on my phone.
It’s just getting scarier by the day

NoNeedToBeRudeDear · 06/04/2020 23:04

@EC22 I agree. Massive drip feed.

starlightgazers · 06/04/2020 23:05

I won’t be surprised if he is already ventilated they’re just not telling us, yet

Same. The ITU environment is a risk in itself, so admittance needs strong justification. It's also not needed for CPAP/ NIV alone.

Fluffybutter · 06/04/2020 23:05

@EC22 my dh said something similar

LexMitior · 06/04/2020 23:07

Apparently a bed had been ready for him since Thursday at St Thomas’s. That has been reported on the Guardian but if true it suggests that there was an urgent need which was delayed.

Raab was insisting Johnson was still leading the country at 5pm. Two hours later he is in ICU.

Obviously something is not right, but press releases are full of things they don’t tell you or were right at the time of writing them.
