Am I or DP in the wrong?

So, Yesterday, my wife cancelled the sky sports subscription without consulting me. She also cancelled the BT sport subscription, which will be active by the end of April. I only found out today, when I couldn’t watch any of these channels.

I then confronted my wife as to why she had done this. She told me that there’s no sport to watch, so it’s a waste of money, but I told her she should have consulted me first. I still wanted to watch a few repeats on these channels.

AIBU, or is my wife in the wrong?

@saraclara why yes I would if the female op had given response like this gentleman.... So please do fuck off with your 'mumsnet are manhaters' 'poor men' nonsense. I read the op and the thread and frankly would like to hear the other side.

As an aside, if the op didn't know that he could pause his subscription why would his wife? By his own admission its his channels, surely he would be better informed? Why assume this was done out of spite? He doesn't seem to like his wife very much....

I asked my husband if we should cancel ours-he’s like you and wants to watch reruns of 90’s games. At the moment we can afford it so it’s fine.

Ontheboardwalk · 06/04/2020 19:52

superram you can suspend it online. You stop paying but you can still watch the channels. It’s a win win

IndecentFeminist · 06/04/2020 20:51

Of course cost is relevant. Sky sports is a pretty big deal cost wise. Netflix is pennies and still operating as per usual.

I can imagine doing this sort of thing as I manage all the accounts for this sort of thing. But it wouldn't be a big deal in this house, if DH did want to watch repeats of sport 🙄🤨 on TV one of us would just phone back up and reinstate it.

hesgotit · 06/04/2020 20:55

But @IndecentFeminist it can be paused, no ,ore payments until it restarts and can watch the reruns ..... it's free! No need to cancel.

SparklyShoesandTutus · 06/04/2020 20:58

Sky are pausing sport subscription so not charging but still giving access

hotsouple · 07/04/2020 00:16

The only thing in your life you could possibly watch is sports repeats that you're paying an arm and a leg for instead of just watching them online for free? Dude, expand your horizons, learn how to use youtube and get the fuck over it.

IndecentFeminist · 07/04/2020 11:40

Yes hesgotit, but neither of them knew that did they.
