Name changed for this as It's extremely outing! because It's bizarre, mainly Pom bears, Mexican House Thief, Penis Beaker etc.

So I currently live with my ex partner. This is recent-I moved back in with him to save money in order to buy a house (obviously I can't do that for now Sad ).

We get on okay, but he was a terrible partner when I was with him.
Heavy drink problem (which he managed to keep secret for far too long!), lies, unable to manage finances, a whole barrage of dishonesty about his circumstances. It was horrible, so many tears and sleepless nights on my part as I'd really thought he was for me before then, but it was years ago and I have grown up a lot now.

This definitely bears some relevance to how I treat him now though. I don't have much respect for him admittedly as it took me a long time to rebuild my life when we broke up some years ago. I'm not horrible to him or anything but I am not overly nice. Had I done this to anyone else I'd have been mortified, ad definitely confessed and paid for damages.

We both own the house together.

Some time ago I was baking a cake. I didn't realise the flour had gone off, so the cake was inedible. I decided to chuck it out for the birds.

Amongst other twatty things my ex had done, he built a HUGE outhouse/outbuilding in the garden. I'd previously had the garden lovely albeit small and he built this thing which takes up about 90% of the garden. It's massive. I decided to chuck the cake on top of it.

But it broke the (corrugated plastic) roof of the structure. It made a hole in it.

This was a month or so ago and he has only just noticed. He came into my room this morning holding a hammer and said 'Whose is this hammer?!' I said I don't know, not mine? And he said he thought someone had thrown it into the garden and this is what has broken the roof. He wants to report it to the police as well.

He is not overly upset about it, and has fixed the hole now.

I kind of want to confess because I don't want him wasting police time.

I kind of don't though.

Would you? Honestly?

YANBU -Don't confess, no point and he's a knobhead anyway
YABU-Confess, It's the correct thing to do.

I don't buy into your idea that a scone can be used even to clean a wide necked flask @CakeHoleinRoof

Your story is 'entertaining' up to a point but did any of this really happen? Hmmmm😂

CakeHoleinRoof · 28/08/2022 21:41

They were abrasive and it worked. I am not sure if you've ever experienced a scone, but they're quite pliable things.

It's up to you if you believe that. The photo I posted has the set-up but obviously I can't post proof, I couldn't even have done that at the time

Thanks for the update!

I have certainly eaten a scone many times, but I've never 'experienced' one. That sounds intriguing.

The ones I've eaten are not pliable at all. They are crumbly and usually slightly dry, hence the liberal application of jam and cream.

I think this must have been one of those threads that was funny at the time, because I think throwing a whole cake on to a roof (flimsy or otherwise), is a spectacularly stupid thing to do.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 29/08/2022 13:21

no, he has his own room, my most recent ex (amicable break up, female) now has the bedroom I used to have. They're getting along okay, she moved in not longer after I left.

I'm sorry but this raises more questions than it answers.

So is cake shed house a rehoming centre for partners you have given up?

CakeHoleinRoof · 29/08/2022 17:33

@Somethingneedstochange I posted a photo of it for clarification a few pages back! He won't have got planning permission. Well if he did I'll show my a$$ in Harrod's window.

@MyDogandClowns I didn't actually!
I got the £ elsewhere for my house now. I like to forget about the house this happened at if I am honest (I still pay mortgage/repairs obviously).

@MrsJBaptiste I am the same, if it smells okay I'll eat it (as a rule) but gone off flour tastes awful.

@oakleaffy I can believe that about the cakes/tarts! My Mother (who I love to death!) bakes pastry that could act as plasterboard.

Regarding the loo, he's done it more than once. The time I referred to was when I got up to go for a wee in the early hours and sat on it

@BrownStripePJ it was the workshop. It does possibly look too strong (well it must have, I didn't intend to break it!) but.. Well it wasn't. Grin

@eldora it probably was. I just hate food waste. And had nowhere else to put it outside given he's taken the whole garden up.

@MrsRobinsonsHandprints Rehoming Centre Grin I don't send new takers around for them! (In his case I'd not dislike anyone so much). It is a bit of an odd one admittedly. But ex contacted me as we're still friendly, was struggling to find a house she could afford, I suggested it and they've met before and both got on okay. It works. I don't think I'll be putting any more ex partners there-It's only a 2 bed anyway Grin .

@CakeHoleinRoof Just come across your thread and now wondering if recent ex moved out and now, 3 years on, if another ex moved in?

(Apologies for the resurrection again)

😆
My two exes (boozy lazy male one and more recent-ish female one) both still co-habiting harmoniously!

I have had a relationship since then, but I didn't put her in the house when we unfortunately split up. Maybe this is a business opportunity I am missing!
