To ask if you earn a lot LESS than 50k per year?

On the back of another thread which was asking about £50k + earners (and me being naturally nosy!) I just wonder if there are many on here earning a lot less and wonder what you do for a living?
I’ve been on Mumsnet for years and there does seem to be many very high earners on here with some very interesting careers.
I’m not one of them unfortunately. Dh earns around £35k pa (45 hrs pw) and due to some health issues I only work very part time. We are both in everyday kind of jobs not careers but we are very happy nonetheless.
Anyone else earning an ‘average’ wage in ‘average’ jobs?

Factory work (food industry) I’m part of the packing team. Monday to Friday. Just over £18k a year

I’m NHS admin, pro rata around £20,000 but I work 30 hours so £16,000. About £14,000 after tax, Nat insurance and pension contributions.
DH is self employed bringing home £18,200 after tax.
We’re both still working while people on 4 x our salary are at home complaining that they’re bored

Payroll - £22000 but part time so works out about £16000.

Finance assistant at a University. I earn just under £27k a year

I work 30 hours a week and make about 24k. It's enough but hard with massive childcare fees and loans to pay off. I live with my dad. No idea how I will afford my own place!

up until last week working 6-6 at a local factory, after tax and NI about £19,000
I did note that the average wage was £36,000 and somebody earning over £80,000 is in the top 5% of UK earners

I’m frontline NHS full time on £30k before tax, DH lectures part time (25hrs) and works full time at a care home (40 hours) to bring home about £34k before tax.

Work as a Night Senior in a dementia residential home. Depends how much overtime i do, im on about £23k. Not had last months pay slip so not sure.

I work in school admin and think the pro-rats is about £16k (I work 30 hours).

Before kids I worked in training earning nearly £45k (13 years ago). Can’t do the hours/flexibility as need to work term time (single parent)

Just have a look at your local rightmove and zoopla and check the sold prices, that might give you an indication...

22k full time. Working with offenders.

I’m a gp receptionist working 28 hours a week, after tax, NI and pensions I earn just under £12,000 a year so probably around £14-15,000 before deductions.

Dh is a postman and earns around £19,000 a year.

School pastoral/safeguarding lead. £25k but pro rata as 35 hrs per week and paid for 5 weeks hols per year, not the full 13 weeks we are off. Works out around £21k. Currently in school on a rota basis trying to support our most vulnerable students.

This time last year I was earning about £22,000 as part of the procurement team of a national company.

Accounts assistant on 24k full time (45hrs) however have been told by my boss I will be going up to 30k after all this blows over

Retail management £19,000

DH earns £22,000 working for a builders’ merchant.

About £24k for 3 days I think. Midlands. Luckily parents helped out with house deposits. I trained in a profession that allows me to earn a lot more but I was miserable in it.

Part of me feels guilty I am wasting myself in a job I enjoy but doesn't earn much. The other part of me thinks life is too short (literally, both parents died relatively young).

Owning an expensive house doesn't mean you're in a well paying job. They could have bought one of thatchers council houses, used money from a death in the family, won a large sum of money for a deposit, or just bought decades ago when houses were cheaper. Doesn't mean they are all owned by high earning people.

If you believe the amount of people on here that claim to earn over 100k, you're very naive. I doubt half are telling the truth.

I do know a few people on £50 k + and some on much, much more than that but most people I know are on average salaries from everyday jobs. DH is a HGV driver and I am a dog walker and PA for a disabled lady.

Part time PA (20 hrs a week) £24,500.

I work for a well known fashion company.. £19000

Child protection social worker, I work full time and I earn 30K before tax. DH is on the legal team (Legal assistant) for a housing association, he is on 25K before tax. His work are also paying for his studies.
