To think the talk of so many NHS clappers is mostly down and out lies?

I missed it last time but gave it the benefit of the doubt. Until Tonight. I listened closely outside at 8 and did not hear a single clap in my area. Also, on Channel 4 news it was showing people clapping and it was literally only a few people clapping, very unenthusiastically and slowly and even sarcastically, I hasten to add. I’m not saying it’s not a “thing” but to claim it’s all “up and down the country” no it’s not, loads of people don’t give a damn. I wonder at all the stories shared by MNers about entire streets coming out to clap and wonder where they live where this happens as everyone that replies seem to agree

Loud enough here to remind us that it was happening at 8 - so I guess it depends on your area.

BeansOnToast4T · 02/04/2020 20:12

More people out on my street tonight than last week. South Wales.

Makeitgoaway · 02/04/2020 20:13

Nothing in my immediate area, but definitely a lot of whooping and cheering coming from a few streets away.

For better or worse, the working class are much better at this than slightly more refined people GrinGrinGrin

joydivisionovengloves71 · 02/04/2020 20:13

Yes we heard loads tonight too much louder than last week

HindsightIs2020 · 02/04/2020 20:14

I live on a street where there are only houses on one side of the road, and it's also curves round a corner. Every house that I could see was clapping.

Smarshian · 02/04/2020 20:14

Loads out in my small village tonight - whooping and clapping. We joined in.

IHateCoronavirus · 02/04/2020 20:14

Not one here North West

mynameiscalypso · 02/04/2020 20:14

It was very loud here tonight - my neighbours have been doing it every night for the last week too.

BurnIt · 02/04/2020 20:14

Miserable fuckers in your area then. Nearly the whole street out here . Could hear cheers and clapping for miles

MadameBee · 02/04/2020 20:14

Why do people have to be such utter grumps about this?

Everyone is having a shit time not able to do anything or see anyone.

It makes people feel like they are doing something and gives a sense of community spirit.

WaterIsWide · 02/04/2020 20:14

Loads in my neighbourhood here. We took part.

Vix20678 · 02/04/2020 20:14

Fireworks here!

ChangeOfName2020 · 02/04/2020 20:14

Not as loud as last week, but still people out clapping, whooping and banging what sounded like saucepans! It was great Grin

Ffsnosexallowed · 02/04/2020 20:14

You should have gone out. In my street about 5 families were out clapping including us. As an NHS worker it means a lot.

Grasspigeons · 02/04/2020 20:14

Its a thing in my street and can hear a wider area clap.

DippyAvocado · 02/04/2020 20:15

I didn't think it would come to much but in my small village nearly everyone seemed to be out, clapping, cheering and banging things. Even more so this week than last week.

mbosnz · 02/04/2020 20:15

More came out on our street this week than last week. And someone played his trombone.

golightlytoday · 02/04/2020 20:16

I love near a hospital and was really loud. And fireworks too.

Redshoeblueshoe · 02/04/2020 20:16

I'm in the north west too. Everyone on my street was out

littleduckeggblue · 02/04/2020 20:16

I live on a long road (in the North East) everyone was out again this week clapping and whistling

Withthemonsters · 02/04/2020 20:16

Pretty much every house I could see down our street tonight had people clapping, could hear fireworks going off too. In West Mids

Whaleandsnail · 02/04/2020 20:16

I missed it last week as I was at work but tonight some neighbours did, my kids then wanted to join in so we opened the door and they stood in the front garden. Could hear it quite loud so must have been other streets by ours doing it as well.

TheGlaikitRambler · 02/04/2020 20:16

Had loads here, the local harbour joined in with ship horns and a lot of my FB friends shared videos of all the clapping & cheering in their streets. It definitely happened.

footprintsintheslow · 02/04/2020 20:17

So loud in my street it woke my baby. People banging on saucepans with wooden spoons. South east Wales

Colabottles64 · 02/04/2020 20:17

Didn’t know it was on again tonight! Oops!
