To think I can still go out with Flu symptoms (essential reasons only)

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:09

Obviously not atm because I feel like 💩 but when I feel better I don't need to self isolate for 2 weeks? I need to do the food shop on Monday so only essential reasons.

I checked on the NHS website and it seems I have flu symptoms no corona virus (no continuous cough or high temp) even though I have had the flu vaccine!

Thanks for any insight!

No! Many people are presenting with symptoms other than the cough and fever, if you have flu like symptoms stay at home for Christ's sake. Get someone to drop your shopping to your doorstep if you really desperately need something or make do with what you have

Trooperslaneagain · 27/03/2020 06:14

I wouldn't - the symptoms are so similar how would you know without being tested.

Toomanycats99 · 27/03/2020 06:14

How do you know it's flu?

You should self isolate.

woodencoffeetable · 27/03/2020 06:15

no.
many symptoms of corona are overlapping with flu symptoms.
stay home until you are completely better.

wonkytonkwoman · 27/03/2020 06:16

You shouldn't go out with Flu symptoms, no.

When you are not symptomatic any longer, yes; the emphasis being on not symptomatic. To some of the population, Flu is a killer too.
Hope you feel better soon.
Might be wise to start finding out who could get you some essentials in now, rather than waiting.

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:17

@Toomanycats99 because I put my symptoms into the NHS 111 corona virus website and it said it was unlikely I have corona virus!

@JoshArcherStoleMyTractor unfortunately for me I didn't go out panic buying and have no friends and my only family member does not drive 😞

Wouldn't want to ask my neighbours either because if anyone has it it will be them! Still having party's and all!

No, no, no, no , no.

whenwillthemadnessend · 27/03/2020 06:19

Your partner should walk then. You should not be out. Or out a message On a community's site for help.

PotsofChoc · 27/03/2020 06:20

The flue season is pretty much over. A Doctor on the radio said anyone with flu symptoms now likely has Coronavirus and not seasonal flu.

Sadiesnakes · 27/03/2020 06:21

Even if it is flu, flu kills plenty too..🙄

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:22

@whenwillthemadnessend I didn't mention my 'partner'

But surely if I should isolate then he should to? Or can he go out!!

I think the government and media really need to start showing more mild cases because if this IS corona virus then it is nothing like they explain.

Thanks everyone will stay in until all my symptoms have been gone for a few days just to be safe! 😌

Please stay in its the one thing you can do to save lives. Can you Google local shops lots near me are now delivering.

I am just off to work for 13 hours NHS frontline, we need your help to stay safe so, I can continue to care for the people you love.

I hope you feel better soon, FYI flu is also contagious and could add to the NHS strain if you pass it to someone.

Kay1341 · 27/03/2020 06:22

Post on fb on a community page and ask help from someone else to drop off shopping to your house.

iVampire · 27/03/2020 06:24

One of the last things we need now is a last hurrah of the flu season.

It is also a respiratory infection which can kill, especially the vulnerable, or require ICU

They’re busy enough, please stay in until definitely asymptomatic

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:25

@Rupertpenrysmistress Thank you 🙏 I used to work on the elderly ward before having my babies so I know how devastating flu can be!

I just wanted to know If I had to self isolate for 2 weeks after the symptoms all go x

middleager · 27/03/2020 06:27

Don't stay in for a few days. You needed to SI for 14 days.

It may be mild in you, but transfer that to an over 70 and they might not be so lucky.

Put a message on FB.

HRH2020 · 27/03/2020 06:29

If you don't have a fever what flu symptoms do you have (if you don't mind me asking)?

PurrBox · 27/03/2020 06:32

I thought the government said to self isolate for 7 days after getting ill, not 14. I thought the 14 day isolation was for household embers who didn't have symptoms but were living with an ill person.

No, you isolate for 7 days from when you first became symptomatic.
It is said you are then no longer contagious. You will then (if it is covid) be immune. It is your partner who needs to isolate for a full 14 days from the day you first showed symptoms. This is because it can take 14 days for the virus to incubate and you should know by then if they are ill too. If they become ill on day 14 they still have to isolate for a further 7 days. You can go about your business as normal after 7 minimum or when your feeling better of that's longer.

Stinkycatbreath · 27/03/2020 06:34

You need to stay at home no matter how essential you feel this could be. You need to self isolate. You could infect people with a long term health condition and kill them.

Toomboom · 27/03/2020 06:34

No, no ,no ,no!!!!

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:36

@HRH2020 Started with a dry throat for a few days then woke up yesterday with blocked nose and felt exhausted, got up then blocked nose went away but my sore throat got worse through the day, then last night felt really rubbish & sick with body aches DH made me a lemsip and I felt a lot better, also had a headache since Monday!

Woke up today and my throat is 90% better just feel achy and tired now, but my baby is teething so iv also not slept for 3 days!

Will defo stay in though, don't want to risk spreading corona virus if it is a mild case 😣
