To think I can still go out with Flu symptoms (essential reasons only)

Obviously not atm because I feel like 💩 but when I feel better I don't need to self isolate for 2 weeks? I need to do the food shop on Monday so only essential reasons.

I checked on the NHS website and it seems I have flu symptoms no corona virus (no continuous cough or high temp) even though I have had the flu vaccine!

Thanks for any insight!

@HJWT Yes you definitely need to be staying in with symptoms like that. Must be extra fun being ill with a teething babySad

Hope you feel better soon.

yearinyearout · 27/03/2020 06:38

If your neighbours are having parties I would report them.
No you shouldn't go out, have you checked your social media for any local groups that are helping people who are isolating? We have one that drops off shopping for people. Also there are lots of smaller shops and farm shops doing deliveries (impossible to get a supermarket slot)

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:38

@Bubblemonkey please read my OP!! but when I feel better I don't need to self isolate for 2 weeks?

I never said I would be leaving the house WITH symptoms.

Your DH should be staying in for 14 days from your start of symptoms in case he has picked it up.

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:40

@NoNeedToBeRudeDear thank you!

@yearinyearout I am not on any SM but I will get my mum to look into that for me! Thanks 😊

This is how it started with me. Then mild cough developed and tightness across chest and breathlessness. I was very tired. I felt better around day 15 but lungs still sore. I'm assuming I've had coronavirus

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 27/03/2020 06:42

There have been several threads about viral load.

Don't go out. Please.

We have a local whats app chat where ppl are helping others out-can someone pick up your shopping/click and collect?

Lidon · 27/03/2020 06:45

Regardless of covid, you think it's a good idea to get behind the wheel of a ton plus piece of metal after three days of no sleep? Shock

BigRedBoat · 27/03/2020 06:45

It's not 14 days from when you feel better it's 14 days from the onset of symptoms for people that live with you and 7 days from the onset of symptoms for you. If the others in your house show symptoms within that 14 days then that's when their 7 days starts.

Wifeofbikerviking · 27/03/2020 06:45

No..as the flu kills too. You shouldn't go out with the flu as it is

Saddler · 27/03/2020 06:46

No, ffs

Wifeofbikerviking · 27/03/2020 06:47

Sorry to be nearer of bad news. If you get totally stuck I know it's impossible to get a supermarket slot but small shops and wholesalers may be willing to help if you tell them you are symptomatic and you cant get help

LightStars · 27/03/2020 06:49

I never said I would be leaving the house WITH symptoms.

Your thread title is literally To think I can still go out with Flu symptoms (essential reasons only).

Orerref · 27/03/2020 06:49

If you spluttered or sneezed or snotted over me, I think right now, I'd be forgiven for knocking you out with a kick to the head.

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:50

@Lidon No as it is Friday and I would be going out on Monday like I said in my Op ☺️

I pray to god he sleeps before then 😩

OP posts:
HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:51

@LightStars You are right! I do apologise as that is very misleading but I did say in my post when I felt better x

If you live alone.. self isolate for 7 days from when your symptoms started.
Its 14 days for anyone who lives with you (up to 5 days to show symptoms and then enough time to have symptoms and get over it.. hopefully).

Thats from the government website.
can you hang in until the 7days is over

Darbs76 · 27/03/2020 06:54

Omg NO! I can’t believe some of the questions I read. Ask someone to drop food at your door. Any cough, any temperature, any flu like symptoms stay in! It’s not hard

Tiredoutteacher2020 · 27/03/2020 06:54

There are lots of local companies delivering food e.g restaurants, dairies, butchers, veg shops. Do NOT go out.

Darbs76 · 27/03/2020 06:56

It’s not stay at home if you think you have CV.

2MapleMuffins · 27/03/2020 06:56

well- some of the corona virus symptons are banging headache, sore throat, aches and pains.

So why are you so sure it is 'just flu' (also a killer) rather than CV?

Someone said on the radio yesterdya that it is human nature to try and look for loop holes.

Why not take some of the excellent advice here and look for a reasonable alternative.

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 27/03/2020 06:57

Honestly, you can go and spread CV or this virus because you feel better? Even when you don’t have a way to know it was CV or how long you stay contagious for?

I can see why other countries have the army and police patrolling streets sending selfish idiots back home. If you don’t do it for other people do it for the hefty fine you will get for being outside with symptoms of the virus.

Witchend · 27/03/2020 06:58

If nothing else, if you're already weakened with flu, if you then came into contact with covid-19 you might well get it far worse.
I would have thought that catching it on top of having flu would be in the group of risk factors, and make it less likely you survive it.

2MapleMuffins · 27/03/2020 06:59

tbh I am have been astounded at how many educated intelligent people think that the rules don't apply to them for [insert reason].

It's been eye opening.

Trumpspeach · 27/03/2020 07:01

I started with a low grade fever on Monday (as did my DCs). As the week has progressed we have all developed diarrhoea (the kids were a lot less poorly than I was!)
We are all SI until Monday. No significant cough or high fever, but we've clearly had something and it's just better to be on the safe side.
