To think I can still go out with Flu symptoms (essential reasons only)

HJWT · 27/03/2020 06:09

Obviously not atm because I feel like 💩 but when I feel better I don't need to self isolate for 2 weeks? I need to do the food shop on Monday so only essential reasons.

I checked on the NHS website and it seems I have flu symptoms no corona virus (no continuous cough or high temp) even though I have had the flu vaccine!

Thanks for any insight!

OP posts:
ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 27/03/2020 08:04

... we'll self isolate according to current guidelines.

Orerref · 27/03/2020 08:05

A lot of people tested in hospitals are sick enough to require hospital admission but don't have coronavirus.

OP. You say you have ALL the symptoms of a flu but don't have a cough or a fever. What symptoms have you exactly? A cold?

Do not go out sneezing over people. You're likely to get smacked.

Aesopfable · 27/03/2020 08:10

In terms of germs and viruses, a household is a single unit. If one member of the household does something then that is equivalent to everybody in the household doing it. So if one member of the household goes shopping then that is the same as the whole household going shopping - they take all the household bugs out with them and on their return bring new bugs back to the whole household. That is why if you are self-isolating noone goes out.

If your DH has been going shopping then no one in your household is self-isolating.

YABVVVVU

Just. Stay. The fuck. At. Home.

Unless you’ve been tested (and they’re only testing the most ill cases unless you’re royalty) you can’t possibly know if it is or isn’t covid19. So stay at home and don’t risk spreading it.

The worst thst happens if you stay home is you get bored, you might need to call in a few favours to get people to fetch essentials for you.

The worst that happens if you go out is you end up killing people.

How is this still a difficult concept?

AnotherMurkyDay · 27/03/2020 08:13

Everybody should have been self isolating for at least 5 days from onset of flu symptoms before this anyway. And 48 hours from last symptom with Noro virus. It's not just covid 19 we shouldn't be sharing around. Yes, less people die of flu but some still do. It's 7 days from onset of covid symposiums, and cough, sore throat, body aches, they are all symptoms anyway

Tootletum · 27/03/2020 08:14

Word of advice just don't post about any of this on here. You could say you'd stubbed your toe and be called every name under the sun.

1forsorrow · 27/03/2020 08:20

I just wanted to know If I had to self isolate for 2 weeks after the symptoms all go

I didn't think the advice was to isolate for 14 days after symptoms have gone? Can someone confirm that? I thought it was self isolate for 14 days.

Sorry being lazy, googled it myself and this is from the govt website

If you have symptoms
If you have symptoms of coronavirus, you'll need to self-isolate for 7 days.

After 7 days:

if you do not have a high temperature, you do not need to self-isolate
if you still have a high temperature, keep self-isolating until your temperature returns to normal
You do not need to self-isolate if you just have a cough after 7 days. A cough can last for several weeks after the infection has gone.

Hope that helps and that you feel better soon.

G5000 · 27/03/2020 08:23

How come you have no friends? Not a single one that could drop a bag of shopping? I'd do that for people I barely know in current circumstances.

Is one of your flu symptoms stupidity ? Is there any need for that? The OP has had symptoms since Monday, she is asking if she can go out next Monday, nothing stupid about that as the government are saying self isolate for 7 days. She will have done that. Maybe you should apologise?

Pinkarsedfly · 27/03/2020 08:30

Fucking hell, this Corona virus sure does show up the rude bastards, doesn’t it?

I’m sure people are using ‘stress’ as an excuse to be their true, foul, misanthropic selves.

TheStuffedPenguin · 27/03/2020 08:32

@1forsorrow tell all the rest of them too

sounds like you need to get with it too ....

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 27/03/2020 08:33

Why can't your DH continue to go shopping? Best to stay home for 7 days from the start of your symptoms.

@iano whilst I think there has been a lack of clarity in some of the government messaging one thing that has been absolutely clear is that if anyone in a household is symptomatic then everyone else in that household must self isolate for 14 days. OP’s DH should not be going out for shopping.

TryingToBeBold · 27/03/2020 08:45

@HJWT when did you start feeling sick?

SisterA · 27/03/2020 08:47

Hi OP - I’d have a look on Facebook for a local group. Lots of local community councils in my area and surrounding are offering support for those who need it so if you need shopping delivered you might be able to find local help.

Hope you feel well soon.

Dontsayyouloveme · 27/03/2020 08:54

God no! Don’t go out! 😮😮

dottiedodah · 27/03/2020 09:20

OP JUST NO! RupertPenrysMistress Thank You. I couldnt imagine having to do a 13 hour shift even in normal circumstances! You are truly doing Gods work and we all applauded last evening .

JustInCaseCakeHappens · 27/03/2020 09:27

NO NO NO

YOU DO HAVE THE SYMPTOMS!!!

It might not be the "classic" ones but there are enough cases of people in hospitals to prove that there is no strict "corona" symptoms.

THIS is exactly why the virus keeps spreading. I despair.

dementedpixie · 27/03/2020 09:28

OP isnt planning to go out until monday. Less hysteria please!

You're right @singing. No idea why I thought that was a solution Blush I blame lack of sleep. Ignore me!

Babyboomtastic · 27/03/2020 09:57

This isn't the whole story either is it op - you have two children, one who has been ill with a cough and the other with a high temperature in the last few days.

You stay at home. For 14 days. All of you. Find a neighbour, family member or community volunteer to drop you some food or get a Morrisons box.

I can't believe you are even asking, and that secondly you haven't mentioned to people on this post about the other people symptomatic in your household. Disgraceful.

dementedpixie · 27/03/2020 10:04

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3860365-help

Maybe we needed the full story!! You should all be self isolating due to the illness of your children

TryingToBeBold · 27/03/2020 10:06

@dementedpixie

Shock
jakesmommy · 27/03/2020 10:29

I have had a sore throat and headache with neck pain for nearly two weeks, hardly any coughing though, how long is coronavirus supposed to last, I have self isolated all that time.
