Anyone else drinking more since lockdown?

I only properly realised when I looked at the recycling. I think we've had a drink every night this week. Prosecco on a weeknight? Yep.
Anyone else found this?

That's 2 bottles of wine!

Summercamping · 27/03/2020 22:44

Hic. Wine

No . Same as ever.

SinkGirl · 27/03/2020 22:45

I rarely ever drink at home unless it’s christmas etc. Rarely ever go out either so barely any drinking for me. We have a lot of booze in though (left from Christmas or when buying supermarket meal deals) - I’ve had a really really dreadful week and I’ve found myself considering the wine. But then my twins sleep so badly and waking up in the night is far harder after even a glass or two of wine so I probably won’t bother.

Currently in intense prolonged fight with our local authority over our twins education - there’s a bottle of champagne in the fridge and it’s not getting opened until we beat them 😬

Me

Thanks for all the replies! I didn't drink last night! Phew. It might be because I went straight to bed as so tired, but I'm still pleased for my liver! Grin Going to try and enforce a rule- no more than every other evening... Wine

Me! It needs to stop. Same with snacking and eating crap. It needs to stop.

sashh · 28/03/2020 10:58

It's got to be bad, Naked wines stopped taking orders for a while and most of their stuff is out of stock - I had to get a delivery from Majestic.

FizzyPink · 28/03/2020 11:24

I work with one of the big wine sites, we usually get around 10 new people joining the site a day, some days recently it’s been 1000

SparklesAllOver · 28/03/2020 11:38

Just received a wine order from Aldi - couldn't get a delivery slot anywhere, earliest is end of April here, but at least I have some vino to keep me company! Grin

Wauden · 28/03/2020 17:25

I have a hangover today so I am going to cut down now. Brew

newnortherner1 · 28/03/2020 17:38

I don't drink at home at all, only when out, so have had no alcohol for three weeks.

Haphazardhacker · 31/03/2020 06:54

I work for a Majestic and we have never been so busy, it’s insane. We have to keep suspending the website so we can catch up. If people have trouble ordering on the website just email your local store and they will get back to you. We are taking a lot of orders but our commercial takings were wiped out overnight so we’re probably level to where we would normally be.

ragged · 31/03/2020 07:14

yeah, deffo drinking more.
I come from alcoholic families so it's worrisome.
Like everyone else I have constant tension all over my body from this stressful situation.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 31/03/2020 09:16

No, and the responses to this thread are worrying...

Madein1995 · 31/03/2020 09:29

Am still doing the one glass a night and I'm noticing an impact - don't sleep as well and struggle to get up in morning. Coupled wjth my cold (runny nose, aches not corona) it's not a great idea really xxx

Bringringbring12 · 31/03/2020 11:31

@AlmostAJillSandwich

Agreed. About future health post corona

I suspect we will be called killjoys though

BrightYellowDaffodil · 31/03/2020 11:43

Yup. Bite me.

isseywith4vampirecats · 31/03/2020 11:52

no only more tea as I don't drink at home any way do have a couple if we go out but as we are not going out I am not bothered

FizzyPink · 31/03/2020 22:43

We’ve started having a drink only on nights when we’ve done a home workout during the day, seems a good compromise Blush

Knowhowufeel2 · 31/03/2020 22:48

Yes, which really isn't great, so I've already cut back.
I'm actually feeling quite invisible (and useless) lately, online and in rl.
Think I'm quite down in general atm, so probably even more important to not drink alcohol.

malsid · 01/04/2020 07:41

Haha, yep, and wine time is slowly getting a little earlier each day. To be fair, my job is now super stressful thanks to bastard Covid.

I also can't stop bloody eating and found myself hiding any goodies just for me. And to think I'd just started back at the gym before all this, (went twice). Need to lose 2 stone of winter weight (sob sob)

Sod it...…..Corona Calories I'm calling them!

Madein1995 · 01/04/2020 12:54

In all seriousness, increased drinking isn't a good thing. It's not really helping feelings of stress and anxiety, it's just making us all pissed. It's not addressing theboddur
You could argue neither does colouring or mindfulness, but those at least don't makf the issue worse. Drinking 5o deal with stress and anxiety becomes a pattern. It becomes a coping mechanism that will stay in place long after covid 19 has gone. It isn't healthy and I know that. My 1 glass of wine a night is no healthier than someone having 2 bottles. It's not the amount, it's the way in which yiure drinking it. Drinking 5o deal with anxiety isn't healthy or good.
Had alcohol free night last night proud

HerMajBishop · 01/04/2020 12:59

I boozed every day last week. Was definitely a manic stress reaction!

Managed to reign it in this week and haven’t had a drink since Sunday. Planning to have a few Fri/Sat but stick to not drinking in the week. That way madness lies...

Picklypickles · 01/04/2020 13:40

No, I hardly ever drink as it is, After many years of being in and out of hospital and on antibiotics for much of the time I stopped drinking years ago, I'm not used to it anymore so it takes a pitiful amount of alcohol to get me drunk and I don't like feeling drunk, I'd rather get high!

MulticolourMophead · 01/04/2020 13:42

I had one mini bottle of wine, the 187cl ones, the other night. The last alcohol I had was in January, a couple of rum and cokes.

So yeah, you could say my drinking has increased.
