Is anyone else struggling to see the point when we aren’t going anywhere? Tried going for a walk but I still just put comfies on. Am I grim?

MylittleLovebug · 22/03/2020 18:16

Yes ypute grim. Just because you cant go out, doesn't mean you should give up

sageandroses · 22/03/2020 18:17

Do you live with anyone else? Isn't it a bit disrespectful to them?

Wolfiefan · 22/03/2020 18:17

Of course you need to wash. You don’t need to glam up but you shouldn’t end up stinking. Shock

picklemewalnuts · 22/03/2020 18:17

A bit grim, but that's ok. These are grim times.

Do you live alone? It's really hard to get into a healthy routine when you feel like no one knows or cares.

PurpleDaisies · 22/03/2020 18:17

Yes, that’s grim.

Is there a particular reason? Don’t you want to feel clean?

ShellsAndSunrises · 22/03/2020 18:18

Shower. You’ll feel a lot better afterwards, and then you’ll get into a habit of it.

HowIrresponsible · 22/03/2020 18:18

That's vile. 🤮

Thescrewinthetuna · 22/03/2020 18:18

It’s grim and probably not good for your mental health if you carry on. I know my depression is getting bad when I neglect myself like that. Are you feeling OK?

angelikacpickles · 22/03/2020 18:18

Yes, that's grim. You only wash if you are going somewhere?

Casmama · 22/03/2020 18:18

I think it can make you feel worse if you dont. Why not have a nice long bath and relax and then aim to shower at least every couple of da ys.

PinkOnWednesday · 22/03/2020 18:19

I live in a house share so although I live with people I’m not getting close with anyone ifyswim? Nobody knows and I don’t think I smell yet

koshkatt · 22/03/2020 18:19

OP I am sorry but that is revolting. Everyone should shower every day. A quick 5 mins is all it takes and you would feel a whole lot better.

I presume that you do not have a partner who has to sleep in the same bed as you? Shock

BanKittenHeels · 22/03/2020 18:20

This is the first sign of depression for many people. It’s very difficult to motivate yourself in you are in a terrible headspace.
Can you try to have a sink wash or a shower every other day to start with?

koshkatt · 22/03/2020 18:20

Not being able to smell yourself and not actually smelling are two very different things.

YeahRiiiiight · 22/03/2020 18:20

I haven’t made an effort with clothes or make up, but I’m still showering and bathing and maintaining good cleanliness. Also wearing perfume everyday as it makes me happy.

You’ll feel better if you get clean and fresh.

Thisismadness · 22/03/2020 18:20

I felt that way for the first time today, made myself do it. I think you need to keep up some standards and routine or you’ll go mad. Totally understand why you feel like you do but I think you’ll feel better if you do.

winefortea · 22/03/2020 18:20

It's easy to give up and end up on a downward spiral. Don't. Do the little things, shower, get dressed, little steps, keep going one foot after the other. It's important. X

HundredMilesAnHour · 22/03/2020 18:21

Urgh, it's a bit early in the pandemic to be so slovenly surely?

I live alone but I still shower, wash my hair, put perfume and body lotion on etc. It's about self-love and feeling good about yourself. It all helps mental health and as we go forward, we're going to need all the mental strength we can get.

TenPenceMix · 22/03/2020 18:21

Get a shower, that's disgusting. Your poor housemates Envy

Youngatheart00 · 22/03/2020 18:21

It is a depressing time and it can seem like an unnecessary hassle to take care of ourselves. But I promise you, you will feel better for standing under that hot running water, fresh PJs on afterwards.

koshkatt · 22/03/2020 18:21

I know my depression is getting bad when I neglect myself like that

Me too. When hospitalised for depression they made me shower and get dressed every day even when I wanted to stay in my pjs and cry. It helped hugely.

madcatladyforever · 22/03/2020 18:22

I haven't seen anyone all weekend but I've got to be clean with my hair washed and the house has to be clean or I can't cope.
I haven't come out of my (clean) tracksuit though.

WTF99 · 22/03/2020 18:22

Ffs get in the shower now! It's not good for your mental or physical health to neglect your personal hygiene.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 22/03/2020 18:22

A nice shower and into clean comfies or jammies after a dog walk feels lovely to me.

These are rotten times but it is important to look after yourself.

I get that it seems pointless but it isn’t. It’ll make you feel a little bit better I’m sure. Flowers

pitlochrypat · 22/03/2020 18:22

I love a good shower, in fact I'm off to have one now as we have a huge rainforest shower which I love. I've been in my pjs all weekend but a clean pair each morning and not one I've slept in, it's more relaxing that way.
