Is anyone else struggling to see the point when we aren’t going anywhere? Tried going for a walk but I still just put comfies on. Am I grim?

When do you plan to have one , OP ?

BertiesLanding · 22/03/2020 19:20

I think it's really important to try to maintain a sense of a) routine, and b) normality within that. Not showering just kicks things out of kilter, which isn't always helpful, imo.

Holothane · 22/03/2020 19:24

Shower for me after tea clean pyjamas. Tomorrow as week day I’ll be dressed want fruit from local green grocers.

KitKat1985 · 22/03/2020 19:24

Yeah that's not good to be honest. I can understand not bothering to put on nice clothes / make-up to sit around in the house, but not showering is pretty unhygienic.

handbagsatdawn33 · 22/03/2020 19:26

You may not notice your own smell, but your pits, & particularly your bits will stink.
Have some consideration for those around you.

SewItGoes · 22/03/2020 19:27

Do what you like, but personally, I find my mental health and general sense of well-being suffers if I don't keep myself clean. It also helps to keep up a routine and passes time... and the warm water and scented shampoo/bodywash are pleasant to experience.

NemophilistRebel · 22/03/2020 19:27

I’m in the group distancing for 12 weeks which I’m taking as isolating to be safe

I still get up shower and do make up and get dressed and then wonder why I did but it does bring a sense of normality to my day

motherheroic · 22/03/2020 19:27

I'm showing daily, but I'm seeing what happens if I stop using deodorant. My body odour reeks of weed.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/03/2020 19:29

Trust me after a week of not showering you do smell. You just mustn’t be able to smell yourself.

Ilovemypantry · 22/03/2020 19:30

@Escapetab

Really??

HavenDilemma · 22/03/2020 19:31

@koshkatt That's ridiculous! There's no need to shower every single day without fail unless it's summer or you've been sweating. Every other day is perfectly fine

motherheroic · 22/03/2020 19:32

Wait,, you live in a house share? You definitely stink, but you're also inflicting it on other people who need to live with you.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 22/03/2020 19:33

I agree with accidentsahoy and wannabangbang.

What the fuck is wrong with people that they can't see that OP is probably going through something and has reached out on here. It's a bit easier to say you haven't showered than it is to say you're feeling down.

Posters who are calling Op out really need to take a long, hard look at themselves. Before you all pile onto the OP, maybe ask why they haven't showered.

Op, I hope you're ok. If you're struggling a bit can I suggest you post elsewhere on here. AIBU seems to bring out the nasty, hard of thinking people.

I can promise you Op though, that if you do manage to take even a five minute shower you will feel so much better afterwards.

Ilovemypantry · 22/03/2020 19:33

@motherheroic
Why are you going to stop using deodorant, any particular reason? And why does your body odour stink of weed?

Eckhart · 22/03/2020 19:36

OP get showered and put smart clothes on tomorrow, even if it's the only thing you do all day. Do it just to try it. It might make you feel good. Do it for yourself. It doesn't matter whether you're going out or not.

recycledbottle · 22/03/2020 19:36

Have a shower, you will feel better if you do. You should shower everyday regardless of whether you go out or not. Every second day at a stretch. It will help you feel better about yourself

Yogawoogie · 22/03/2020 19:37

Are you okay op? Do you need help/a chat/support?

I’ve gone the opposite way and am spending far too long in the bath and pampering myself. I figured that self care is especially important right now!
My skin has never had so much attention.

I'm now on a every 2nd day shower regime, but I am washing in between. I've been confined to the house and haven't had the energy to do any excercise.

It's good to have a proper wash or shower, do your teeth, brush your hair and get dressed, sets you up for the day :) I've not bothered with make up though.

If1knewiwouldnotbehere · 22/03/2020 19:40

@HavenDilemma
You shed dead cells everyday. You sweat everyday, even walking from one room to the next. Anyone doing less than showering everyday (preferably twice a day), is rank and nasty in my books. I always get on the train and spell things and always wonder if a person washed. It's not a BO smell, it's a bit like

BillieEilish · 22/03/2020 19:41

Apart from in summer, I never shower every day Hmm if I am not going out.

It's bad for your skin I think. Every day. Also bad to wash hair every day IMHO.

OP can have a shower when she choses, just because it makes you feel better, not her, right now. I've certainly had days when I've 'holed up' and let myself go.

To put on makeup is ridiculous.

If1knewiwouldnotbehere · 22/03/2020 19:42

to continue it's a bit like turning milk. The first time someone admitted it was the first time I could recognise it. Man I wouldn't even admit it.

As for the OP, she hasn't been back, hopefully cause she has been coerced, shamed or whatever u to finding the shower.

WeAllHaveWings · 22/03/2020 19:44

OP, it is going to be a long 12 weeks. You need to be thinking of ways to protect your physical and mental wellbeing. This is going to get tougher and tougher. Slobbing around unwashed and undressed week1 isn't going to help you.

Start getting up at a reasonable time, getting showered and dressed. Get out for a safe walk 2-3 times a day in a quiet area while we still can. Start thinking about what you are going to do to pass the time when (not if) we go into full lockdown, including some physical exercise you can do indoors every day. Look up some box sets to watch, download some books to read, find something productive to do/learn.

YOU are responsible for your own wellbeing during this time.

BillieEilish · 22/03/2020 19:44

shower 'preferably twice a day'? When you are lockdown? FFS

You do definitely NOT need to shower twice a day.

IAmFleshIAmBone · 22/03/2020 19:44

Wow that's lovely, 'coercing' and 'shaming' someone who seems to be struggling. The only 'rank and nasty' thing here is posters like that Confused
