To ask what is the scariest roller coaster or fair ground ride you have been on?

Can be from theme parks in the uk or in another country or local fair ground rides or any others.

Mine was this:

Not that I checked but if I didn’t end up with even the tiniest bit of involuntary piss in my pants after this, I would be very surprised. It’s the closest I have ever felt like thinking that I was in so much danger I could actually die 😰

I think mine was x2 in six flags California. It's a normal rollercoaster but your seats spin while you are travelling so you have no idea what is coming next!

I'm not sure I have done the explanation justice but it's been years since I went on it still stands out in my mind.

foxtwin · 21/03/2020 00:19

OMG the Brighton one was mine too! Went on it last year and it was horrendous 😩 I don't know if it's just me getting older but I used to love rides until this one!

AlunWynsKnee · 21/03/2020 00:22

The log flume (in Porthcawl or Barry?) years ago scared me rigid. It felt like it was living on borrowed time!

Seren85 · 21/03/2020 00:23

The bloody City Hopper (of death) at Download festival 2010. Evil thing.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 21/03/2020 00:27

I used to love rides when I was younger too. I would've gone on anything.

I did get scared on the Big One in Blackpool. The slow, clicky, high climb gives too much time to regret getting on it.

Worst (not scariest) was the big wooden one in Busch Gardens Florida. It was just so rickety. I rattled so much I felt damaged when I got off and like I'd been kicked in the head.

BritishHorrorStory · 21/03/2020 00:28

If it makes you feel better, I rode this ride (should point out, it was the same ride but at a local funfair, not at Brighton) when I was 19 and I was physically shaking when I came off it. 15 years later and I can barely go on a tea cup ride these days without feeling like I’m going to fall flat on my face when I get off, but I used to love any rollercoaster or fairground ride when I was younger but that was just something else entirely. Shock

I remember whimpering helplessly and pathetically at one point, when waiting at the top that high up after it had ended while they were getting the people in the bottom seats off the ride first BlushGrin

I love rides but can’t go on then now due to arthritis and can’t do steps, that Brighton one is similar to one at Drayton manor I loved it.

GiantRedPanda · 21/03/2020 00:37

The old Wild Mouse ride at Blackpool. Don't think it exists anymore, but I was still terrified by it when I was there about 5 years ago, at the age of 29. It always felt like you were about to fall out. My brother swore blind that he had to physically duck at one point to avoid hitting his head, but I'm sure he was exaggerating.

The Big One I always just enjoyed, but I'm not afraid of heights so I loved the everlasting initial climb.

Nat6999 · 21/03/2020 00:42

The big one at Blackpool, that biggest drop is a killer, never been on a roller coaster since.

JadziaSnax · 21/03/2020 00:47

The wild mouse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach was utterly terrifying. It was so rickety with sharp bends so I felt like we were going to get thrown off it.

ThirtyAndASmidgen · 21/03/2020 00:51

The rides at the top of the Stratosphere tower in Las Vegas, 1000ft up. Bloody terrifying.

MKUltrachic · 21/03/2020 00:53

Wild mouse rides are painful - nearly got concussed bashing my head into the seats at a sudden halt

steff13 · 21/03/2020 00:58

Banshee, King's Island.

This tiny caterpillar thing for infants that I went on with my son a few years back. I am terrified of heights and rides. I only went on because I wanted to set a good example for him.

It was horrifying and I regretted every moment. I'm not religious but in the moment that it went clinking off, I felt that God had set the laws of gravity and I was foolish and hubristic to flaunt them for such a stupid and pointless reason and that painful divine retribution was deservedly coming my way. All with a fixed grin on my face while saying 'Isn't this lovely darling!' through gritted teeth. I swore off them after that and have never looked back. His Dad takes him on them now.

That and that horsey thing at Blackpool, the really old one. I was bullied on to that against my better judgement as a teenager many decades ago. It looked so benign, cute little horses and I naively believed it wouldn't be that much scarier then a carousel (which I've never entirely trusted but I think that's mostly the organ music which I feel has a sinister edge to it) Those horses were polished, probably by the sweat of the poor terrified people before me and I was too short to get my feet securely on the stirrups, if there were any, I can't quite remember. I was convinced I was going to be flung careening to my death. That's no way to go, is it?

PapsofJura · 21/03/2020 01:19

Grand national at Blackpool, thought I was breathing my last. Also the plastic horsey thing at Blackpool as I was convinced I was going to fall off, think it was called the steeplechase.

BritishHorrorStory · 21/03/2020 01:19

Oh, and special mention to the ride: Tagada, which I went in Spain: the ride with no harnesses or anything to keep you in place, but a ride designed to purposely try and unseat you completely from your seat (to be fair, it was scary but hilariously so at the same time).

TinklyLittleLaugh · 21/03/2020 02:18

There was a wooden roller coaster at Southport years ago. Rickety as fuck and no safety straps. I genuinely thought I was going to die.

And yes to those Blackpool horses and clinging on for dear life.

TheChippendenSpook · 21/03/2020 02:26

The Wild Mouse is no longer at Blackpool Pleasue Beach. It was horrendous!

There is the Steeple chase where you go along a track on a horse and the one that takes you round a bit like a carousel is called the Derby Racer. I used to love that Smile

FrankieDoyle · 21/03/2020 03:15

Air (Alton Towers)

Lots of people love it but I found it bloody terrifying.

notangelinajolie · 21/03/2020 03:27

The Revolution at Blackpool around 100 years ago is in my top 10 Grin

Would I be unreasonable to say the Nemo ride at Disneyland Paris?
Equally scary also at Disneyland Paris was the indoor one which played Aerosmith at deafening volume.

But my all time ride from hell would be the wooden roller coaster at Morecambe.

Hmmmm88 · 21/03/2020 05:43

Mine was oblivion at alton towers. As we were at the top being hungover the edge my ex boyfriend thought it would be hilarious to unclip my seatbelt. To be fair the seatbelt is only a secondary precaution but still a dickish thing to do.

I hate rides

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/03/2020 05:53

Pirate ships. Always felt like I would fall out. Managed to take the kids on children's ones, but refuse anything bigger.

I don't feel fear or excitement really on rollercoasters etc. I can get a bit giggly due to other people, but that's it. The only thing that's come close was a ride at the funfair in Germany.

Mammyloveswine · 21/03/2020 05:57

The terroriser at flamingo land! Genuinely thought I would fall out!

Comps83 · 21/03/2020 05:57

Oblivion @ Alton Towers . Not remotely enjoyable

Verily1 · 21/03/2020 05:58

As others said steeplechase and the big one at Blackpool and any mouse rides
Oblivion at AT
RIP ride rocket at universal/ IOA? Orlando and the space ride at Epcot- the g force was too much for me and I felt sick for the rest of the day

I don’t mind intense rides but hate ones I feel I might fall out of.
