To ask what is the scariest roller coaster or fair ground ride you have been on?

Can be from theme parks in the uk or in another country or local fair ground rides or any others.

Mine was this:

Not that I checked but if I didn’t end up with even the tiniest bit of involuntary piss in my pants after this, I would be very surprised. It’s the closest I have ever felt like thinking that I was in so much danger I could actually die 😰

There used to be a rickety old scenic railway at Dreamland in Margate. It wasn’t overly high compared to modern ones but you weren’t strapped in, the wooden frame looked rotten and some of the slats were missing from the track. We used to try and stand at the back because it felt like it was jumping up off the track.

Onceateacher · 21/03/2020 17:14

Every other ride at Porta Ventura, but yes to Furious Baco - my ds made me go on it with him and really changed his mind once we were strapped in!

DarkDarkNight · 21/03/2020 17:18

Sheikra at Busch Gardens. I love roller coasters but was seriously considering ducking out of the queue.

DarkDarkNight · 21/03/2020 17:24

Also Mission Space at Epcot. Not really ‘scary’ as such but you would have to pay me a lot of money to subject myself to that again. Horribly claustrophobic. I was willing it to end, I was panicking so much.

DarkDarkNight · 21/03/2020 17:32

Just reading through BritishHorrorStory and the space one is Mission Space. The harness comes down and then tightens. I convinced myself I couldn’t breathe. The video showing the ‘landing’ is so disorientating. When I got off I was said to my Boyfriend that I was about to be sick if it had gone on a few seconds more.

Verily1 · 21/03/2020 17:35

Mission space was the one I couldn’t remember the name of at Epcot

I never get dizzy/ motion sickness but this made me so ill

It was worse than going to the dentist!

Soubriquet · 21/03/2020 17:37

Aaaaah I don’t know!!!!

I’ve done Florida so I’ve done lots of rides.

The scariest thing I’ve done, but I loved it so much I had to go again, had to be the zip wire in adrenaline quarry down at Cornwall.

Eagles claw at lightwaterr Valley. I love rides but that I genuinely thought I was going to fall out of! I cried the entire ride not ashamed

Soubriquet · 21/03/2020 17:47

Oh god...I just remembered. My and dh totally freaked out on a ride we’ve been on before lots of times.

The only difference? We had watched Final Destination 2 the night before BlushBlushBlush

I don’t either us had ever freaked out so badly on a ride.

We had to come off and sit down for a bit because we were genuinely terrified.

Now we make sure we don’t watch anything like that before we go Grin

myColoursareblushandbashful · 21/03/2020 18:10

Mako at Seaworld Orlando. Thought I was dying and cried all the way after the 1st drop. I still get the awful feeling in my stomach when I see it advertised

Helenheller · 21/03/2020 18:26

Steeplechase Blackpool. Terrifying.

Alyic · 21/03/2020 18:38

@itswinetime I've been on that, it was horrendous

BritishHorrorStory · 21/03/2020 18:45

@DarkDarkNight

After reading people on here had provided the Mission Space ride name and exchanged similar experiences, I googled it and looked at some reviews. It seems from the reviews given it’s like a really marmite ride, some people absolutely love it and some people absolutely hate it, there doesn’t seem to be any inbetween or “it was just ok”. I looked at only the bad reviews, naturally Grin and all of them contained the same complaints that have been mentioned here: claustrophobia, feeling sick, disorientated and some people having to admit defeat and go to their hotel rooms earlier than planned and missing out on other rides and events because it had affected them that much. I personally don’t remember this but apparently they provide sick bags inside the ride in case anyone needs to throw up. You don’t even get that on major rollercoasters, let alone expect it at somewhere family fun like Disney!

This :

It was horrifying and I regretted every moment. I'm not religious but in the moment that it went clinking off, I felt that God had set the laws of gravity and I was foolish and hubristic to flaunt them for such a stupid and pointless reason and that painful divine retribution was deservedly coming my way. All with a fixed grin on my face while saying 'Isn't this lovely darling!' through gritted teeth. I swore off them after that and have never looked back. His Dad takes him on them now.

From @Finallyatooth made me absolutely cry with laughter because this is me on all rides.
I haven't even been on a bad one because I find them anxiety inducing, my DM having given me the anxiety as a child.

hammeringinmyhead · 21/03/2020 18:52

I only went on Oblivion once, in 1998. I have never done it again! I love stuff like Saw the Ride, Cheetah Hunt, Hulk, and The Smiler where you just go really fast but I hate anything with a slow buildup so refused Sheikra. I'm still not sure how I managed several goes on Rip Ride Rockit.

wanderings · 21/03/2020 18:56

Mine is a waterslide: Devil's Drop in Paignton. It's almost vertical, and very open and exposed. It takes a mere five seconds to get from the top to the bottom. The worst part is that you have to deliberately push yourself over the edge!

sunfloweryy · 21/03/2020 19:02

Mission Space is horrendous. Me and DH had to sit head between legs for ages afterwards Grin

There was also a Dinosaur one at Animal kingdom in Florida that scared me way more than it should have.

AND the one at Volcano Bay where the trap door opens beneath you. Shudder.

sunfloweryy · 21/03/2020 19:04

It’s ridiculous what humans enjoy... putting a cat on a rollercoaster would be tantamount to animal abuse!

CatAnnoyance · 21/03/2020 19:06

The Big One in Blackpool. The worst bit was the trains chugging up to the top really slowly and giving you time to panic about what was coming! My life flashed before my eyes.

Leflic · 21/03/2020 19:11

I agree it’s the small funfairs that are terrifying.
Hearing the creaking, the ripped seats, the sea to one side and concrete below....horrific.

MeganChips · 21/03/2020 19:17

The Rat was Lightwater Valley wasn’t it?

Another vote for furious Baco. It’s just so violent and there is nothing fun about it at all, just painful. I had a headache for the rest of the day.

Shambala on the other hand is one of my favourite coasters of all time. I felt perfectly safe.

I went on one in Six Flags in Illinois which was a rollercoaster which spun you round in your cars at the same time. I nearly fell over when I got off!

PrincessMargaret · 21/03/2020 19:19

Oblivion at Alton Towers. I honestly thought I might die of terror whilst hanging over the edge,.

AlliKaneSon · 21/03/2020 19:22

The Flitzer in Barry Island. I love all roller coasters; the higher and faster the better. the Flitzer, however, felt like it was going to collapse at any given moment!!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 21/03/2020 19:26

I refused to go on sheikra. I didn't mind oblivion but you start at the top so no big climb. Even though similar drop it was just too much seeing the full height of sheikra. Plus the 2nd drop!

Heartofglass12345 · 21/03/2020 19:29

I went on slingshot in magaluf 8 years ago. I don't remember it at all as I was that drunk lol. I do remember however being adamant that I wasn't going on it a few hours before, I blame the shots! There is video evidence with a lot of swearing and me thinking I'm about to die Blush
That stratosphere in Las Vegas looks awful I don't know how anyone can go on it!
I used to love rides when I was younger, not so much now!
