Can be from theme parks in the uk or in another country or local fair ground rides or any others.

Mine was this:

Not that I checked but if I didn’t end up with even the tiniest bit of involuntary piss in my pants after this, I would be very surprised. It’s the closest I have ever felt like thinking that I was in so much danger I could actually die 😰

The Dragon Coaster at Rye Playland in Rye, New York.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Coaster_(Playland)

It was built in the 1920's and is all wood construction, so the structure flexes a bit as the cars go around. We live fairly nearby and the kids would ride it over and over. Once is enough for me.

Grand national at Blackpool, thought I was breathing my last

I opened up this thread and wondered if this ride would be mentioned. Bloody terrifying. I don't suppose it is still there?

Another vote for Mission Space at Epcot. Thought I was having a heart attack and fought the G-Force to raise my arms to my chest as I was being crushed to death then realised that the bars were not crushing me. Have ridden coasters 100’s of times but seeing the Stratosphere rides in Vegas was horrendous, had waves of adrenaline watching my two daughters spin and dip off the top of a 100+ story hotel.

lostthepoint · 21/03/2020 21:39

Shockwave at Drayton Manor. Looked okay and given that I’d been fine on smiler, oblivion and nemesis at alton towers thought it would be fine. Only on the first drop I thought I’d be fine no hands (did that on the smiler), then almost bloody fell out and clung onto the handles for life. Actually thought i’d die

lostthepoint · 21/03/2020 21:44

Crush’s coaster at DLP also scared the shit out of me as a child

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 21/03/2020 21:44

All of you saying Mission Space, did you do the green or the orange route?

GiantRedPanda · 21/03/2020 21:54

Grand National was still at Blackpool last time I went (2 years ago I think). I've been on loads of rides, including Florida, and still think the Blackpool ones are scarier because so few of them have overhead harnesses which means they feel much more dangerous.

The wooden rickety one at Southport was called the Cyclone. We once stopped at the top due to a really high headwind, and a bunch of staff came up, gave us a push and we finished the ride! They closed the ride once we'd finished our go.

Quirrelsotherface · 21/03/2020 21:56

Valhalla at Blackpool pleasure beach. In a boat, in water, in the pitch black. Didn't like that one at all!

That ride is really unsafe. The restraints don’t work properly and there has been more than a few times when I’ve rode it with my feet actually not touching the floor even though it’s meant to be a standing rollercoaster but I couldn’t get a ride attendants attention to notify them. Also, another time, we were going up the first hill, about three quarters of the way up, and ALL THE HANDLEBARS SUDDENLY CAME UP 😵😵. The ride juddered to a halt and we all had to get off and climb down the tiny steps next to the ride one by one but even that was scary because it was windy and we were really high up with no restraints or safety.

I read this on the reviews and don’t remember being offered a choice of any route and maybe they didn’t exist when I went on it, but if I picked one but just don’t remember, it would have to have been the orange extreme one, purely for how disgusting the whole experience made me feel.

lol all I remember about that is there was fire at one point and I wasn’t expecting it and felt it was close to burning me and sending our boat in flames

I can't remember what it was called but it was at Alton Towers. Years ago a roller coaster that was in the dark grounding have a clue where you were. That and the enterprise at Barry Island.

lamppostdog · 21/03/2020 22:05

Was that the Black Hole @goose1964 ?

DanielSpaniel · 21/03/2020 22:06

Mission space was horrendous. We did the orange, mission to Mars route. It was one of our final rides after 10 days of theme parks, so we were really blasé and a bit cocky. We ignored all the warning signs about it being extreme, not to go on if you have motion sickness etc... omg, it was bloody awful!! I wanted to cry (and throw up).

Whatsnewpussyhat · 21/03/2020 22:18

It was years ago I went on mission space and dont recall there being choice, although from the sounds of it I must've gone on the milder version.

Wincarnis · 21/03/2020 22:38

The RAT was at Lightwater Valley, they changed it to Raptor (or something like that) - I went on the Ultimate there and hated it, kept thinking I was going to fall out.

Other nightmares were the Mad Mouse and the Rotor at Rhyl. shudder

Evilspiritgin · 21/03/2020 22:52

What was the dark ride at Blackpool called? I was tricked into going on to it

Nat6999 · 21/03/2020 22:58

Not a rollercoaster but at Fantasy Island Ingoldmells there is a thing where you sit in a dingy & shoot through plastic tubes, it feels just like being a turd in a toilet when it is flushed.

Graffitiqueen · 21/03/2020 22:59

The mouse at Blackpool. Utterly terrifying thought it was going to fall to bits.

LittleCandle · 21/03/2020 23:10

Mako at SeaWorld in Orlando. It had only opened a few days before and we went on because it was quiet. I was scared shitless. It felt very unsafe with just a small triangle of plastic to keep me in. I'm never going on it again.

Fuss · 21/03/2020 23:13

The dark ride at Alton Towers was the black hole as has been said. The other quite vicious one was The Corkscrew. Came off that with my ears bleeding when it shoved my stud earrings into the back of my ears.
I do have a fondness for the corkscrew though. I have a wheel from that ride which I acquired when it was dismantled.

policeandthieves · 21/03/2020 23:15

Has anyone been on Megafobia - I was on it years ago somewhere in Wales and it was truly awful. Wooden , creaking and felt as if it would collapse.

Last scary ride I am going on ever.

BetelgeuseIsOrionsArmpit · 21/03/2020 23:21

I am a great lover of all rollercoaster rides but the one that scared me the most was the Wild Mouse one at Littlehampton. It had a bench seat that ran from front to back and absolutely no safety restraints. I loved it!

30not13 · 21/03/2020 23:22

The original corkscrew at AT was v painful!
Oblivion. I would have to seriously think about it were I offered £million to ride it again.
Scariest time though was at Wedy Mids safari park, there was a kind of Mexican hat on a long dangly arm. My niece was well over the height limit but very thin. She started to rise up out of her seat and her shoulders out of the solid harness.
Me and the lady the other side of her were screaming for the ride to stop and trying our best to hold her legs down to prevent her coming out of the top. Scariest moment of my life. The ride operators shrugged when we told him. I should have made a formal complaint looking back (this was around 15 years ago).

BritishHorrorStory · 21/03/2020 23:23

Same thing happened to me when I went on Klondike at Drayton Manor. And speaking of, just remembered another one: G force also at Drayton Manor. I don’t get the point of that it, it’s not spectacular but it’s not enjoyable either, it just really hurts you the entire time (ironically I think this was actually the thing to replace Klondike which also seemed like torture dressed up with a steel track)
