AIBU to ask fellow Mumsnetters your favourite conspiracy theories?

Where it be about lizard people, 911 or the Government man-making Coronvirus to kill off the vulnerable, what conspiracy theory sends a chill up your spine?

Sorry if a little dark but I have to admit I love a good conspiracy theory and figured I wouldn't be the only one! Plus I need some bedtime reading...

Really enjoyed this thread Op, nice lighthearted bit of fun! To add though the Queen is a cannibal, it’s how she stays so young. Also Melania Trump is a synthetic being (actually one of many the president owns and had made)

If it was they went to an awful lot of trouble.

They put mirrors on the moon that you can bounce lasers of to this day. They also routed TV / Radio signals through Australia, convincing Australian scientists to believe the signals came from space.

Apollo 13 - yep you would really fake an accident that showed faults in your equipment.

My youngest dc is convinced corona is deliberately man made to put us all in place. Look at how many people are willingly self isolating they say, including us! She’s also convinced Johnson’s ineptitude is because he doesn’t really want brexit & will use this an excuse to halt it. 🤞🤞🤞

Similar to Men in Black is the time travellers. There is a story from Japan about a man who arrived at the airport claiming to be from a place called Taured (or something) he even had a passport from there, they detained him and he vanished. Google it as there's more to it than that. Listverse has a good article on time travellers.

Well, dh came up with his own conspiracy about covid19 this morning, he says it's all made up /or been created to get us all to stay home because there is going to be a major event, probably aliens coming!

Covid19 is to really push Agenda21.

The shops have gone cashless here, that won’t be reinstated after. Emergency laws such as soldiers on the streets won’t be ended once this is all over. Martial law is here to stay. There is going to be a global currency reset.

My friend has a bonkers one about the three gorges dam in China. Apparently its so massive (dam, weight of the water) that it has thrown off the earth's rotation and is causing untold damage which is why we're getting global warming and the ice caps are melting.

I think the three gorges dam has had enough of a negative impact on the environment to be controversial without any bonkers theories.

I find the Sandy Hook theory quite upsetting. Apparently the victims’ families have been harassed by crazy “truthers”, accusing them of being actors hired by the government. Imagine losing your tiny child in such a horrific way, then having to deal with that shit as well.

*Told DH about this thread and he just about pissed his pants with excitement. He's lives for a conspiracy.

He's totally convinced the illumanti is among is and the "all seeing eye" is absolutely everywhere and lots of big megastars are all members and regularly make gestures associated with illumanti.

Also been instructed to tell you all, he also fully believes about 9/11 being a conspiracy.... He rattled on about for about 10mins about specifics but i tuned out about 3mins into said rant don't remember the details*

@rosegoldivy my DP believes in all that stuff as well.

I'm beginning to believe in time travel.

My car's battery died the other day. The mechanic said he has never in all his years come across one quite as thoroughly stone dead before. He put a new battery in, and now the clock in my car thinks it is 13th January 2009 and it won't let me change it ...

Oh, and by the way - all conspiracy theories are deliberately started by THEM to divert everyone's attention away from what's really going on.

I really wonder why I love a good conspiracy theory so much! Currently contemplating why the amazing anti-malaria drug chloroquine, now touted as a cure in the US doubled in price in China before the outbreak. I read an article today of doctors in China saying the US knew about it as they're too far ahead with developing a vaccine. I believe there is a lab in Wuhan.

I believe a lot of theories! Musicians/authors selling their souls. 9/11 being an inside job. The moon landing didn't happen. Now off to read about Denver...

Currently contemplating why the amazing anti-malaria drug chloroquine, now touted as a cure in the US doubled in price in China before the outbreak.

It was the only US manufacturer that doubled the price of chloroquine in January as Covid took hold in China, but say it was coincidence (allegedly they wanted to be able to invest in new manufacturing facilities to keep it on the market) but has reported to have now rescinded the price rise.

It used to be an amazingly cheap drug - about 10 cents US for a course of treatment.
