I’ve just been going through my cupboards and found this beauty - cannot see anyone eating it and nobody knows its origins??!
Where did it come from? Who bought it? Sounds vile

Polkadotpjs · 18/03/2020 17:57

In my house - liver.

I'd have to be truly desperate

Polkadotpjs · 18/03/2020 18:05

Have you got liver sitting there waiting to be eaten? I was thinking what’s been lurking in the cupboards but now wondering if you’ve been gifted liver and are just waiting for it to go off so you can bin it Grin

@Polkadotpjs
This is a great post!
I'll get back to you once I dig through my cabinetsGrin

APatchyTomCat · 18/03/2020 18:07

Nothing as outlandish as yours, but there's a tin of chick peas in the drawer that will outlive us all.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/03/2020 18:09

Isn’t it just like a hard pepperami?!

Sissymate2 · 18/03/2020 18:09

@APatchyTomCat
I love chickpeas...we should have a food exchange! You can have polkas chorizo 🤣

JigsawsAreInPieces · 18/03/2020 18:10

@APatchyTomCat

Make hummus with it. Smile

Sissymate2 · 18/03/2020 18:10

I think it is Mexican sausage...at least it is where we live.

Windyatthebeach · 18/03/2020 18:11

Where I live nobody likes mushy peas it seems..

We always had a traditional tin of SPAM in the cupboard when I was growing up. Every so often my brother and I would take it out and look at it and mouth 'Made in Argentina' and wonder at it's exoticness, before reverently placing it back in the cupboard.

I continued the tradition as an adult, until I met my partner, who shocked me to the core by finding my emotional-support-SPAM tin and making stovies with it.

Not sure I've ever quite recovered, tbh.

BasicMadeira · 18/03/2020 18:12

We have a large number of jars of capers. Due to my modest liking of them with a smoked salmon as cream cheese bagel we have acquired a name in the family for them and people buy them for me and give me the ones they are gifted (hampers and the like) I like capers but I have a lifetime supply of them.

APatchyTomCat · 18/03/2020 18:13

Oh I know I should make hummus, or dhal, or stew but you know when you just get a mental block and before you know it, the tin is looking ever so slightly rusty, and the label looks retro because you know they've updated the packaging since you bought it...

JTTWC · 18/03/2020 18:14

One of those tinned chicken curries which was about a pound. I can't even find it at the moment. I am thinking it's at the back of the cupboard. Hoping it will never find the light of day but you never know. Might need it at some point. Would like to know the 'chicken' tastes like!

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 18:15

I've seen those weird flavoured sticks of rock in Haven Park shops. Maybe someone brought it back from a holiday for you?

I've got a few tins of chickpeas for just in case. I don't want to use them straight away as I can use both the chickpeas and then the aquafaba if I run out of eggs.

bank100 · 18/03/2020 18:17

There's a tin of 'All Day Breakfast' in our pantry. It's about 4 years old. Given to DH by MIL for a Christmas jokey present...

Howcanwehelp · 18/03/2020 18:17

We've got tinned snails from France. Ds wanted to try them and then chickened out. I can auction them to the highest bidder.

Katinski · 18/03/2020 18:19

Sauerkraut. Now, I like a helping of sauerkraut alongside some pork sausage. A SMALL helping.
Why are the jars so large?

Polkadotpjs · 18/03/2020 18:22

I see a good swap here! I like capers and chickpeas. The rock is like Blackpool seeet rock but chorizo flavour! I don’t eat meat...
Glad the post has gone down well. Was worried I’d be pounced on

"emotional-support-SPAM tin"

Dying laughing at this!

PenguinsOnParade · 18/03/2020 18:24

I've discovered random weird flavoured chutneys at the back of the cupboard. They must have come in a Christmas hamper. I don't think any of us would be trying them. Also a mint sauce and I have no idea how that got here as I can't stand it, even the smell makes me gag badly. Blush

easyandy101 · 18/03/2020 18:24

Whole soup aisle and tinned veg aisle was empty in the local big supermarket except for mountains of muligatawny soup

madcatladyforever · 18/03/2020 18:26

Figrolls, spam, pot noodle, cat food, tomato soup - I wouldn't eat any of those if I was dying of starvation.

Moltenpink · 18/03/2020 18:27

Dried soya mince Envy
