I’ve just been going through my cupboards and found this beauty - cannot see anyone eating it and nobody knows its origins??!
Where did it come from? Who bought it? Sounds vile

I still have a pack of bacon flavoured "cotton candy" I picked up on a trip to the states last year.

Times will have to get very desperate before we open that.

Boulshired · 18/03/2020 18:28

I have a huge bag of hemp that my vegan daughter wanted to make protein shakes. It’s vile but cannot seem to throw away as a paid for it so do not want to waste it. Also some basil infused juice, I didn’t read the label.

QuestionableMouse · 18/03/2020 18:29

There's a tin of lamb hotpot I bought by mistake. I cannot bear lamb in any form.

I keep meaning to give it to my mam and never getting around to it.

LoudBatPerson · 18/03/2020 18:30

I'll take the basil infused juice. I generally really enjoy thing like that I am weird.

AfterSchoolWorry · 18/03/2020 18:30

In our house I'll be shocked if beans get eaten.

AlCalavicci · 18/03/2020 18:34

ooh great thread .
I have some lasagne sheets that I came across about 2 weeks ago and nealy threw them out ( I have had them well over a year ) but I though no I will use them one day.
I am so glad I kept them now , although apart from making a actual lasagne I am not sure what I will do with them .
Break up before cooking and have with chilli , curry what ever or cook them and try to slice into fancy thin strips and serve before they go stone cold
If I had throw them away I think there would of been a lynch mob at my front door !

AlCalavicci · 18/03/2020 18:37

We have a jar of very posh marmalade we've had for a few years now. I'd probably quite like it if I ever opened it but I've never actually tried marmalade and have a bit of a mental block about eating it. Love chick peas (and great idea on the aquafaba!) though we eat several tins a week

iamDdog · 18/03/2020 18:41

Was cleaning out my mums cupboards and we found some dill from 2003 Confused she has moved twice since then... there were also several packet sauce mixes from 2007

tiramisususu · 18/03/2020 18:41

Howcanwehelp me and DH once bought a tin of snails as a joke years ago when I lived in France. On opening, looked just like tinned slugs Envy

Sissymate2 · 18/03/2020 18:42

@Polkadotpjs
I found something!
This ginormous container was a double pack from Costco and has been in the back of the cabinet for 10 years..
We could survive on it , but would definitely be the absolute last foodstuff to be consumed if we were starving....90 cal/ serving and plenty of fibre, but then I guess we'd need some more loo roll to go with it....I think I'll put it up for free on the internet...hope I don't regret my hastiness🤣

We have some prosecco-flavour seaside rock somewhere in the house. Slightly more appetising than your rock OP

contentedsoul · 18/03/2020 18:48

I’d start on the cat food before ever contemplating tomato soup.

Sissymate2 · 18/03/2020 18:52

@Polkadotpjs
🤣 you thought your post would be pounced upon! Yes, it is being pounced upon giving all MNetters a huge chuckle....
You are brill 🤣
I predict this is going to go to classics as it is such an indicator of the present situation and how we have to make our own fun and giggles since we're in isolation

Fluffybutter · 18/03/2020 18:53

Oh I love spam .. I’ll take them off your hands

Bluetrews25 · 18/03/2020 18:54

I will not eat my emergency Fray Bentos pie in a tin until I buy another one. Hate not to have one in, just in case. This one has probably been in my life for 6 years....
Probably have some 10 year old rice pudding somewhere. I know it doesn't improve with vast age.

Sissymate2 · 18/03/2020 18:55

@Polkadotpjs
And also how MN is helping us get through this pandemic....nobody wants to go out and about in case they miss an up to the minute posting.

Thank you, MN for doing your bit to save the world!

Fluffybutter · 18/03/2020 18:56

I’ve also got a “big shit” in my cupboard ..

For lack of a better place to put it, I stashed the bird food in the pantry. Cue my partner pouncing on what she thought was a pack of fudge and then being moderately traumatised to find out she'd almost eaten a suet block with extra insects.

We may be glad of that soon. Top protein, right there.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 18/03/2020 18:58

A tin of Petit Pois and carrots.

Only if I'm desperate will it get eaten.

LefttoherownDevizes · 18/03/2020 19:00

I got carried away and bought a box of mixed died brands. So I have 6k of various different types of beans that won't get eaten.

Plus a 500ml jar of pickled chillies that are meant to be eaten in three days once opened. Topped off with a 3yr old jar of mincemeat and washed down with Tiptree Strawberry gin

ProfessorofCunning · 18/03/2020 19:02

I’ve got a can of tinned salmon, that used to have a twin. It will never be consumed here. It’s twin was opened and was discovered to contain not only a slightly ropey bit of salmon, but the skin and bones too. As if a chunk had been sliced off the fish and just canned there and then. Was hoping it was going to be like tinned tuna in presentation, and was going to use it to make a salmon pasta bake. The dog liked it, once the bones were fished out. That was over two years ago and I hate eating food.

TroysMammy · 18/03/2020 19:03

Cocoa powder, best before 2014. I'm loathed to throw it out as it looks ok but I don't make chocolate cake or drink cocoa.

BadCatDirtyCat · 18/03/2020 19:05

My tins of chickpeas will last a while I think.. but they'll be gone long before the dried chickpeas!

My mum was telling me earlier that she has 32 litres of beetroot juice Envy (to be fair I don't think that was stockpiled deliberately, she's just on some sort of subscribe and save thing)
