I’ve just been going through my cupboards and found this beauty - cannot see anyone eating it and nobody knows its origins??!
Where did it come from? Who bought it? Sounds vile

I should probably clear out my cupboard.

I have a tin of Spam in a cupboard, I brought it from my late Mum's house, when she died 15 years ago. She didn't like Spam, despite giving me frequent Spam butties in the war years. I haven't checked the expiry date on the tin,it might be a true vintage Spam now.

But might have to eat it at some point,if all the shops run out of food soon.!!!

FairyAnn · 18/03/2020 19:10

We've got a box of liquorice all-sorts. Neither of us like liquorice and I'm pretty sure the dog can't have it.

Will trade for spam!

mumwon · 18/03/2020 19:11

& I thought we were odd
so we are ok for olives & some very odd forms of gluten free spaghetti made from a variety of different types of beans (4 packs of it) dh & I decided to pass the time doing a stock take of my various cupboards - we haven't even started on the spices & herbs let alone the freezer which is (according to dh) full of several years of frozen fruit from the garden, It occupied the afternoon especially as dh (who refuses to wear hearing aid & writes v slowly I discovered) needed me to repeat what I said, several times or took so long writing .
we could start on the spice & herb & tea (yes I have a cupboard devoted to teaGrin) next week! Grin

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/03/2020 19:12

I have a foreign tin of ‘Crap’ (some sort of fish, maybe carp?) - a joke present ages ago.

Wish there was a stray moggy I could feed it to!

BTW, re a pp, WTF is wrong with Mulligatawny? I make it now and then with the last bits of roast chicken. Onion, celery, carrots, sautéed with curry powder, simmer in stock with rice, chicken and chopped apple added last. Delish

Princessfaffalot · 18/03/2020 19:12

@AlCalavicci on ready steady cook (I know, I know) the other day a chef Deep fried broken up lasagne sheets and then drizzled them with honey and lemon and sesame seeds and they looked amazing!

St0pTryingT0MakeFetchHappen · 18/03/2020 19:13

I've got some high fructose corn syrup (was making dipping icing a few years ago). I'd love some kimchi

mumwon · 18/03/2020 19:13

Oh I found some bread flour dated 2016 - I am trying to build up courage to open & check!

For all those left over chickpea juices!

OneTooManyBathtimes · 18/03/2020 19:16

DH eats everything, except shudders

/whispers/ pickled walnuts

LongLiveTheQueenBee · 18/03/2020 19:19

We had a tin of chick peas and lentil soup in the back of the cupboard for about 10 years.... God knows where they came from or why we kept them so long but they eventually got thrown away at 8 years out of date!!!

We have a Christmas pudding I got in a hamper....I hate Christmas pudding!!!
And lots of wine/prosecco... Not to my taste.

Eckhart · 18/03/2020 19:19

@TroysMammy You can put cocoa in smoothies, it's great with banana and peanut butter.

But not when it's SIX YEARS OUT OF DATE!!

This thread is hilarious, thanks OP.

Bluetrews25 · 18/03/2020 19:20

Who doesn't have a jar of silverskin pickled onions bought one Christmas, opened in the following June and only a few used? The lid will be going nice and rusty / corroded.

MitziK · 18/03/2020 19:21

If every single meal since Sunday is anything to go by, what's not going to get eaten because I'll have rammed the remains of the bag up DP's arse is more fucking frozen diced veg.

I have tried so many times to explain to him that you buy lots of different bags of frozen vegetables because then you HAVE A VARIETY, and all he's done is run them down to nothing and got this giant bag of floor sweepings that he's putting in every meal, including my fucking lunchbox tuna pasta. Hasn't bought any more fucking Tuna, though.

Twat. I am going to kill him when his work closes down too

devildeepbluesea · 18/03/2020 19:22

Corned beef. Although the dog likes it...

WitchQueenofDarkness · 18/03/2020 19:22

My antique tin of octopus.

It was found at the back of my grandmother's kitchen cupboard when we cleared the house.

It was old and rusty when I played shops with it as a child and that was 50 years ago....

myidentitymycrisis · 18/03/2020 19:26

@madcatladyforever
I love fig rolls!

JackiFazaki · 18/03/2020 19:27

A jar of homemade mixed pickle made by son's friend's Grandma. Never met her.

It's got a a bit of random red gingham and an elastic band round the jar, with " Grandma's homemade pickles 2019" written on it.

Contents seem to be mainly cauliflower, some chopped carrot, and a gherkin (?) in a discoloured sludge.

Not quite piccalilli, more like a brain lab specimen iyswim.

Friend doesn't eat pickle, allegedly, and gave it to me at Christmas as he "didn't want it to go to waste."

Obviously I look like I eat any old random shite. Hmm

BeansOnToast4T · 18/03/2020 19:31

Probably the tin of grapefruit segments in the back of the cupboard! None of us like them bought for a visitor.

Thrivingnotjustsurviving · 18/03/2020 19:32

Emotional support spam is the best sentence I read this week. Amazing Grin

Polkadotpjs · 18/03/2020 19:33

Love it! I want:
The licorice all sorts and the big sheet (just for entertainment)
And whoever had the wine please. I’ve now also found some “olive paste” from Greece c2015

gillybombilly · 18/03/2020 19:34

Poached pears in amaretto from a gift hamper if anyone fancies them

HeresMe · 18/03/2020 19:34

The smash mashed potatoes walked past and grabbed a tub, but probably won't be getting eaten unless all potatoes disappear.

Boulshired · 18/03/2020 19:40

Corn beef and spam would have been on my mums stockpile list if this was the 70s, including smash, lucozade in the wrapper, night nurse and crispy pancakes. Everything could be cured with sugar rush of lucozade in the day before being knocked out with night nurse at night.
