Bathroom being redone after a horrid leak in January. We have a lovely plumber and carpenter on the case.

The bathroom is currently just a bare brick room with a loo in the corner!! We have no other bathrooms in the house so we're showering at other people's place and washing hands and faces (and sometimes hair) in the kitchen...

THE BATH ARRIVED TODAY!

It's big and lovely and in the garage but I'm vvv excited.

I've been there, how exciting!!! Did you lie in it just for fun?

lettersbyowl · 27/02/2020 18:44

Ohhh how exciting OP!! Talk to me - what's planned for your first bath in it? A bubble filled lazy soak with a book or a full hair mask/face mask/body scrub/leg shave pamper up sesh??

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 27/02/2020 18:44

Me too. When it was plumbed in, I lay in it and looked at daylight through the bare floorboards. Lovely!

PeterPomegranate · 27/02/2020 18:46

Not at all unreasonable. Hope you’re back to enjoying lovely baths soon.

Baths are important to me and I have at least one a week. My husband has never bathed at this house and we’ve lived here nearly 3 years.

Doginahat · 27/02/2020 18:58

I love a good bath. This one is square and deep! I almost had a little lie in it but was afraid of damaging it as it was direct on a cement floor... Grin I didn't dare risk it!

My first bath will be bubbles, music, and a glass of something lovely.

Tempted to take a photo of the brick room now and document the progress!!

I'm totally a bath person. Hate showers. Treat yourself to one of these bad boys, for an extra luxurious soak! I totally love mine.

Enjoy the bath. Hope you've got some Radox, bath bombs, or bubble bath!

@Doginahat Oooh. Post a pic. I'm up for some bath porn. Okay, that sounds wrong.

Emmelina · 27/02/2020 19:16

Ooh lovely! I hope you’ve bought some nice bubbles (bath and drinking!) in anticipation of its installation!

Enchiladas · 27/02/2020 19:16

I'M excited for your bath!!

iheartislesofwight · 27/02/2020 19:16

sounds fab, ours is a scruffy thing that our future buyers will want to rip out and throw in the skip Smile
ooh, i want a nice bath now with bubbles and nice things !

iheartislesofwight · 27/02/2020 19:19

8% say your bu ? what the heck ? jealousy or otherwise, as a kid we didn't have a bathroom, it was in the kitchen i used to bath whilst dm was cooking the dinner and with the outdoor loo well, if you've ever sat on a frozen loo seat .... Grin

ParkheadParadise · 27/02/2020 19:28

I'm excited for you.

I love a bath. Needs to be boiling hot, bubbles and my candles lit.

honeyloops · 27/02/2020 19:31

I'm delighted for you! I have a bath about 4 nights a week before bed - in our old house we only had a shower until our landlord (a friend) had the bathroom redone with a big claw foot bath which you could practically swim in. I miss it so much now I have a tiny thimble of a bath!

Doginahat · 27/02/2020 19:32

Haha! You lot are so lovely, indulging a saddo like me! I'll take a 'brick pic' in a moment.

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery I'd love one of those but this bath is... ~pause for dramatic effect~ ...too wide!

Our old bathroom was patchworked together from what we could afford almost a decade ago, so this is a real treat! The loo is certainly from the 1980s ig not earlier Envy grim!

GetMeOffThisCycleOfMisery That bath caddy is too short by 1cm Sad My search must go on! I have a friend who wanted a good caddy, though, so you'll have made her very happy instead as it's her birthday coming up!

Square, deep bath? Like a soaking tub? I swoon for this type of thing.
Pics please and thank you.

Doginahat · 27/02/2020 22:17

TechnicalSergeantGarp Yes! It's my dream bath. Nothing installed yet, but I can document the evolution in the thread if you like?

Doginahat · 27/02/2020 22:22

iheartislesofwight I bet that's classed as some sort of rustic spa treatment these days.

OP posts:
Doginahat · 28/02/2020 17:15

The carpenter is in! He's putting plasterboard up as the original 50s(!!) plaster or render had blown in several places. Turns out the wall with the door in it is a botch job and falling apart... so no more bathroom until that's sorted Sad

So here is my bath, sad and waiting in the garage.

Aibu to be excited about my bath?

YANBU. We got a new bathroom last year and have a huge bath, only 6 foot DS1 &2 can't completely lie flat in it - it's wide and deep and wonderful thank goodness we don't have a water meter

Bezalelle · 28/02/2020 17:22

YANBU at all. A bath is one of life's great pleasures.
