Bathroom being redone after a horrid leak in January. We have a lovely plumber and carpenter on the case.

The bathroom is currently just a bare brick room with a loo in the corner!! We have no other bathrooms in the house so we're showering at other people's place and washing hands and faces (and sometimes hair) in the kitchen...

THE BATH ARRIVED TODAY!

It's big and lovely and in the garage but I'm vvv excited.

M&S supima towels!

Doginahat · 07/05/2020 08:45

Queenie8 - I just looked those up. There are some really nice designs on M&S!

@homeschoolmyarse where did you get your bath from, please? We've recently (in the last 6 months) got rid of our bath as no one ever used it, but now all I can think about is having a bath! Our en-suite needs replacing and I was considering a sit in bath with shower over it. I contacted one company but their brochure which they didn't even attach to the letter gives neither measurements nor prices.

OP thank you for the thread. It's been lovely, seeing others' photos and reading their thought processes for their choices.

Queenie8 · 07/05/2020 09:50

@Doginahat I highly recommend the towels, I have some that are 10+ years old, they haven't faded, gotten scratchy nor look tatty, if anything they're as good as the day they were bought. I have had cristy towels cost twice the price and are half the quality. The supima are worth the price.

Enjoy your gorgeous new bathroom and fantastic new bath!

We'll be renovating one of our bathrooms next year, and I've earmarked an omni tub off the back of this thread - possibly with the jets added.

homeschoolmyarse · 07/05/2020 10:17

Omnitub- sane as OP, but I think mine is the slightly smaller one. The solo

Doginahat · 07/05/2020 11:57

I'm really pleased that so many people are joining the thread and sharing their designs. It's so helpful!

Although the amount of people who believe I'm unreasonable has crept up by 2% Grin I'm so sorry! You must all be sick of me and my excitement!

ooh I feel your excitement OP.

I remember moving to my current place which has a bath after years of studios and houseshares with either no baths or none that you'd want to sit in! I think I bought a bottle of champagne (only Lidl but damn good enough!) a candle and a lush bubble bar especially. Hope you've got a nice fluffy robe or big towel for after! Wine

LakieLady · 07/05/2020 12:09

@ItsLateHumpty, that looks suspiciously like a bottle of Hendricks gin in the niche above the new bath!

When you said you were getting a black bath, I didn't realise you just meant the outside. Blush It looks great.

homeschoolmyarse · 07/05/2020 12:36

This is my other bath

Aibu to be excited about my bath?
ItsLateHumpty · 07/05/2020 14:25

Good spotting @LakieLady! Very sadly I had to drink all the gin in order to re-use the bottle for my bubble bath but in happier news I am working on new designs for when I fancy a change of look Grin Gin

@homeschoolmyarse what a lovely green oasis! That window is stunning.

Our en-suit also completed recently attached. Pretty similar to the family bath re colours and fixtures, but a double vanity and includes a soaker shower which I can’t get DH out of!

Doginahat · 08/05/2020 13:41

homeschoolmyarse Other bath?! You have a choice of two? Very jealous! It looks really high end.

ItsLateHumpty That en suite is so nice. If we had space I'd have loved to have had a double sink.

...there is still a man in the bathroom! The carpenter is just finishing off. I hope the plumber puts the toilet back in this afternoon. We didn't have it all last night or today!

Woo hoo!

Looking good. How excited are you Grin
Do you have a finish date yet?

I will have some progress soon too - bath is finally being plumbed in tomorrow, so should be good to use by Thursday.

Unfortunately the laundry room is also almost finished so I’ll have no further excuses for not putting a load (or twenty Blush) on.

Doginahat · 12/05/2020 17:45

Apparently Thursday! I'm painting and papering tonight, and the lovely gents are back in tomorrow, and then I just need to paint the woodwork after they're done.

Beautiful! Your loo roll might get warm tho on that lovely radiator Grin (although that would be very decadent for winter months!)

I just started & followed this thread down praying that you got far enough along before lockdown kicked it!! It got tense when I saw the open plan loo!

It really does look lovely and am totally intrigued by the bath, I've not seen one like that before but love the depth!

Doginahat · 24/05/2020 20:16

TeaMeBasil It was a bit tense on this end too!! Grin

Loo roll holder is one of the things still to add, as is shower curtain! Warm winter loo roll, though... hmmm...

I thought I'd have buyer's remorse over the bath but I can honestly say it's the best bath I've ever experienced. It stays hot for much longer too. I suppose there's a smaller surface to cool off!

ItsLateHumpty · 25/05/2020 06:16

Yay! Looks brilliant Grin and I like the Brew on the side of the bath too.

Isn’t it lovely when it all comes together. I have used (lots) my our new bath and love it too.
Also very happy with the completed laundry. I’ve attached a couple of update pics cos well, you did ask 😂

looks lovely op

when we had the bathroom redone in the old house we were without bath (and therefore also without shower) for 3 weeks as the builder got injured.

we bathed in a baby bathtub in the kitchen.

Doginahat · 25/05/2020 08:56

ItsLateHumpty - your bath is lovely! I like the alcove and golden accents!

I also like how your laundry room is classier than anything I own Grin love the colour scheme! Starting to think I should redo my futility room.

OP posts:
Doginahat · 25/05/2020 08:58

bluefoxmug Sounds hellish! When they were sorting out the loo part of the bathroom, the novelty of using the outside loo soon wore off... how many of you had to do the baby bath routine?
