To have complained to Uber Eats

Ordered a meal for me and the DCs, we've all got stinking colds and have been hunkered down all day.

The driver is assigned: it's a female name and they're on a bike

Ten minutes later (not concerned about this aspect, quick) my food arrives, delivered by a man in a car. No sign of this female anywhere.

I normally tip generously and give good feedback but this time I did neither and actually complained that the driver wasn't who they said they were. AIBU to have done this?

Uber haven’t lost their license in London btw.

Yes they have

They are fully operational.

They can still operate while they appeal.

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/02/2020 23:55

So should Uber just not bother telling you who is delivering

This is exactly what Uber should do. The OP was no more or less safe because of it, but it made her feel anxious. She would not have felt anxious if she didnt have an expectation.

It would be best for them to scrap this feature.Smile

DreemOn · 20/02/2020 09:59

Sorry not read all the thread.

So now people know that the correct driver might not show up will anyone actually stop using UBER. Or are they just going to complain and whinge about it. OP?

It's something that wouldn't bother me.

snowybean · 20/02/2020 10:04

If drivers keep unassigning themselves from an order and you keep getting notifications saying

"Your driver is X"
"Your driver is Y"
"Your driver is Z"

it would be really annoying, and it would make the user more likely to disable push notifications, which would be bad for Uber Eats.

I assure you that the driver who delivered your food would be the one to get your tip.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 20/02/2020 10:19

What? Why does this even matter? It's a pizza delivery service not a dating app

KarmaStar · 20/02/2020 10:47

This is beyond ridiculous.
I expect your complaint has been passed around and treated with the same disdain as mn.
You will be remembered by them for sure.

psychedelephant · 20/02/2020 11:51

OP they must know this is an ongoing issue because they have a way to respond to it: help.uber.com/ubereats/article/delivery-partner-didnt-match-the-picture?nodeId=fe3a6ab5-e13d-43a2-a18a-9a7e39d1fd83

I get you - you are saying from a safety perspective you were expecting to open the door to person A but got person B.

PumpkinP · 20/02/2020 13:57

I don’t think Uber eats will care tbh. They don’t have the best costumer service. When I complained about an order because my food was incorrect I was told If I continued to complain they would block my account! Despite sending pictures they basically called me a liar. Great costumer service Hmm

BennyBanana · 20/02/2020 16:10

Yes fully operational while they appeal, just like the last time.

Any loss of license us currently meaningless.

People outside of London do seem to think they no longer operate.

goingoverground · 20/02/2020 16:53

People outside of London do seem to think they no longer operate Who said that, @BennyBanana?

And TBF you did say:

Uber haven’t lost their license in London btw

It might be meaningless but they have lost their license... For unlicensed drivers using other people's profiles to work.

Cyllie33 · 20/02/2020 17:00

I’m with you OP. It’s happened to me and I find it unnerving - same as I would of an Uber taxi turned up with a different driver. It’s not about the name or gender but that it’s not the person you’ve been given the name and photo of - so why bother doing this at all?

Dieu · 20/02/2020 17:03

Say what?! Hmm
The thought of complaining wouldn't have occurred to me in a million years.
Have you really nothing better to do?

Bubblemonkey · 20/02/2020 17:25

If the weathers awful - would u want to be delivering food to a jumped up cow on a fucking bike?

That's a bit strong! If Khadija didn't want the shift she should have given it up for someone else legitimately on Uber's books. Not allowed her mate/husband or whoever to do it for her.

Probably what happens is that people with driving licences, clean DBS and visa's sign up to uber and then farm out their shifts creaming off some of the money, so the guy that did deliver probably only gets half the money. It's fraudulent.

shuuush · 20/02/2020 17:42

You will get into trouble for assuming their gender 😱

Total speculation!
