I just can't stop thinking about it. Has really knocked me sideways. Been sort of just floating around feeling weird about it all weekend.

Anyone else??

@Chocolatedaim And what about her ex ex’s allegations of DV? Were they an accident too?

Chocolatedaim · 20/02/2020 09:11

Well precisely Masked Tulip that’s why I don’t see her as a victim at all. It’s a shame she killed herself, but a shame for her family and friends who all seemed to love her so much.

Sagradafamiliar · 20/02/2020 09:46

If she'd have been innocent then she'd have been vindicated either at the trial, or afterwards when she and the boyfriend would have been able to properly give their side of events.
Unfortunately a lot of things about her lifestyle would have been revealed, things already out there but not stated as fact as they would have been in court.
She killed herself because she didn't want to face the reality of the court case. She isn't the first to have done so. It's a very final way of taking control and yes, very sad for her family and friends.

SouthWestmom · 20/02/2020 10:10

Russell Brand getting in on the act has really pissed me off, comparing Jade Goody and Amy Winehouse as well . Saying Caroline's circumstances were such she felt she had no hope - they weren't landed on her, they were caused by her own actions.

Tbh I think a lot of social media 'trolling' and comment is because people object to the narrative we are sold - if slebs weren't trying to make this about mean old people on forums and not a DA scared of the trial, I wouldn't feel the need to post for example.

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 20/02/2020 10:11

@HelenaDove I also wonder how the photos got out into the public. They had to have been taken by the police and leaked, surely?

Chocolatedaim · 20/02/2020 10:21

I don’t know how the photos got out, but in the Instagram post released by her mom in the newspaper yesterday, CF said the photo was sold to the press. Maybe by the police, maybe by an assistant?

Chocolatedaim · 20/02/2020 10:23

To be fair when I think about it, it could be a number of people. Someone come round to clean? A ‘friend’

StuckBetweenDarknessAndLight · 20/02/2020 10:42

Good point Chocolate, thanks. I hadn't thought of cleaners.

Microdot · 20/02/2020 10:42

I know that isn't how the system works unfortunately but I think there needs to be new laws in place to protect these people. Not just for celebrities but for ordinary people like me and you as well

I understand this but if it was ever possible it certainly wouldn't be now with social media, as mentioned above, photos being leaked and endless gossip sites.

JustDanceAddict · 20/02/2020 10:50

It was a shock but I’m not sad really. It’s terrible that someone has committed suicide, but I can’t get that upset about someone unknown to me.
I am much more affected by tragedies such as 9/11 or Grenfell where multiple people died.

Janemarpling · 20/02/2020 11:45

The counter argument to this is if it wasn't in the media before proven guilty then The Rolf Harris trial etc would not have been as possible. The argument being it encourages other victims to come forward.

I am not sure there is a right answer.

MargotB7 · 20/02/2020 18:07

TheMaskedTulip

What were your opinions of her before the DV and her ending her own life? You seem to really dislike her. Yes, I agree what she did was wrong but you seem quite satisfied that she is dead.

Toria70 · 20/02/2020 18:16

Yet again, the DM sidebar today is filled with more of her so called sleb mates and her management posting "tributes" and photos on social media. All publicly shared, with the intention that it will make the media.

What the fuck is wrong with them? No wonder she felt so alone Sad

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 20/02/2020 18:25

My opinion of her plummeted after the reports that she, a 31 year old, was dating a 17 year old. Somehow, I don't think that was "an accident".

MargotB7 · 20/02/2020 18:30

So do you dislike Chris Evans for dating Billie Piper?

Microdot · 20/02/2020 18:46

Chris Evans got a lot of stick over the relationship with Billie Piper, it was seen by the media as another example of his issues at the time.

MargotB7 · 20/02/2020 18:49

Many men date much younger women though. Was it Harry Styles?

Microdot · 20/02/2020 18:53

Yes, Harry Styles. Personally that doesn't bother me, I think there is a lot of nonsense talked about age-gap relationships and def hypocrisy in the way it is viewed when it involves older female/young man

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 20/02/2020 18:55

@TheMaskedTulip I'm a 45 year old woman who still has internal demons despite years & years of professional help.

gypsywater · 20/02/2020 18:55

I thought it was common knowledge that CF was a beard for Nik Grimshaw in terms of Harry S?

gypsywater · 20/02/2020 18:56

And I would think it was sad if she was a man. I would never not think a suicide was sad. Soz.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 20/02/2020 19:07

I would have exactly the same views of a 31 year old man dating a 17 year old girl.

HeIenaDove · 20/02/2020 19:15

Lot of hypocrisy when its gay men as well.

unique1986 · 20/02/2020 19:21

I can't believe anyone seriously believes that Caroline Flack was in a sexual relationship with Harry Styles.
She's the sort of person that was often pictured with single guys but that doesn't mean to say that there was anything going on..
They might have had a short-term friendship and we're in the same circles with The X Factor stuff .
But it was all rumours and yeah I believe about the Nick thing.
She did a light-hearted interview with somebody on TV and she said don't believe everything you read in the papers about my love life...

YouCanNeverHaveEnoughGIitter · 20/02/2020 19:25

Indeed helena or an injunction/media deal/cover up

Whoever said There is barely a scratch should have a word with themselves wrt Lewis's photograph. For whatever reason he is minimising/defensive/looking to put the blame elsewhere - understandable in the circumstances.
But the photograph itself is evidence that an incident did take place - and has left him with half a cm scar tissue two months after the event: It looks exactly the same as my son's when his three year old sister pushed him on our stairs. Might look like nothing now but still needed gluing and there was blood.
I cannot fathom the disconnect between size of a wound and accountability of persons involved. The CPS saw fit to prosecute, the phone call and evidence they had they felt was enough. The canonisation of celebrities who have died because of the social etiquette of not speaking ill of the dead is whitewashing.
