To be this upset over Caroline Flack?

I just can't stop thinking about it. Has really knocked me sideways. Been sort of just floating around feeling weird about it all weekend.

I can't believe anyone seriously believes that Caroline Flack was in a sexual relationship with Harry Styles.
She's the sort of person that was often pictured with single guys but that doesn't mean to say that there was anything going on..
They might have had a short-term friendship and we're in the same circles with The X Factor stuff .

They both confirmed they were together and, when the relationship ended, that they had broken up.

Re Harry Styles CF said she still felt very young inside so didn't really concern herself over the age gap but when the press became aware she got a lot of abuse and they ended it.

Lot of hypocrisy when its gay men as well.
Yes, that's true, it's almost always framed as possibly coercive or unhealthy. Of course that can be a factor but the idea, very common on MN, that all such relationships are wrong is so narrow and and unrealistic

Lots of semi famous people on twitter claiming the CPS have blood on their hands for pushing on with the trial, despite boyfriend not wanting to press charges, but isn’t that normal practice for a domestic abuse case?
I was under the impression, if the police feel they have enough evidence to take it to court, they often do, as many DV victims are likely to change stories, rather than sticking to the truth, they say something like, they fell down the stairs, or walked into the door...
Is that correct? Does anyone have more of an idea about that than me?

lol CF TALKED about this relationship in interviews- she said they were together as a couple. This wasnt just rumour.

Whether she was his beard or not is irrelevant- CF herself told interviewers they were together so its not just gossip or people making stuff up

It's a fake relationship to hide the sexual orientation of one of the people concerned. The whole point is that she would confirm it - that is part of being a beard!

Yes- exactly what you said it is. People are saying the rumours about CF and HS were just gossip made up by journalists. I'm saying, they weren't because CF talked about their relationship in an interview. Whether she was lying to be his beard or to cover up his relationship with a dude or not, CF herself said they were in a relationship so it wasnt just gossip made up by journos. Maybe they weren't together at all, but she stated publicly that they were, so people weren't just making stuff up

Styles has often flirted with a gay/bi image, to keep all fans onside I suspect or just to try to make himself appear more interesting than he actually is. If he wanted to cover up a relationship with NG there were plenty more effective ways of doing it than a fake relationship with CF and no reason why she should agree to go along with it.

You don't know anything either way and it is totally irrelevant now

If that is the case, both Grimmy and Harry can pack in with the public grieving an 'all. Grimmy is out but firmly denied he was ever in a relationship with HS. Harry said something crap like I'm not bi, at least I don't think I am. If they both were involved but saw their flatmate thrown under the bus: called a cougar at best, paedo at worst, they should have stepped up for her and stood up for her at the time.
If it was business as usual, all PR is good PR, you know how the game works Caroline etc then her agents/managers bigging up the FHM type ladette cougar bullshittery didn't have her best interests at heart, did they and can shut up as well.

CF was never in a relationship with HS.
It was all concocted to push the image of him in a straight relationship and to increase her profile.
Her management actively encouraged the 'cougar' press coverage at a time when 'no publicity is bad publicity' was the prevalent view.
No idea whether they (or she) ever considered what the long term implications may be for CF as tabloid fodder.

It's not common knowledge in the media world I inhabit. I'd never heardthose rumours until these last few days on Mumsnet. Sounds like an urban myth that gets people over-excited about how cool they are.

If they were really in any kind of relationship (the DJ and the young popstar) then the only way they could have kept that secret would be to have some sort of press super-injunction. Which I find doubtful.

Happy to be proven wrong, of course. But let's see some proof.

Although not on this thread or HQ will shut it down Grin.
