Odd phone call by woman to DH mobile -what could this be?

Got a call this week on DH mobile. I rang the number back. Woman answered, sounded surprised. Said sorry wrong number.
I asked who she was trying to get in touch with and she started to sound a little nervous and said she was trying to get hold of her partner and had got hold of him now.
I replied that I find it unusual that she would dial an incorrect number for her partner as surely it would be in contacts?
She then hung up.
I copied the phone number down and I rang it back again only to be told I have dialled an incorrect number and to consult my directory.
How can this be??

Can you just turn a phone off like that though?

My first thought is that’s she was ringing your husband because she was trying to reach him - it was the first thing that come to mind.

Ponoka7 · 08/02/2020 21:18

Have you asked your DH?

1Morewineplease · 08/02/2020 21:19

Ask your husband.

NemophilistRebel · 08/02/2020 21:22

Option 1 - she was contacting your husband and accidentally called his main phone and not his 2nd secret phone

Option 2 - some weird glitch in the matrix / telephone system that meant her calling her partner strangely went through to your husbands phone instead

Stranger things have happened

Motherclucker01 · 08/02/2020 21:23

Ask your husband and see how he reacts?

If you have reason to suspect him then don't tell him it's now not connecting just say a woman called, @you called back and it seems odd and get him to call the number in front of you, if he is happy to then no issue.

Motherclucker01 · 08/02/2020 21:24

Stupid phone tagged someone by mistake! Sorry Blush

Iamnow · 08/02/2020 21:26

She's blocked you? Or told the phone provider it has been stolen, so can they disconnect it?

conduitoffortune · 08/02/2020 21:27

Well it doesn't sound good.

Crunchymum · 08/02/2020 21:28

Have you called the number back from your DH phone?

Or from any other number.

If he's a decent and honest guy I'd go with the glitch theory but I'm assuming you have reasons to feel suspicious so I'd guess it's his OW!!

Crunchymum · 08/02/2020 21:30

How fast did you call the number back? Immediately from the phone the call was made to? Or later from a different phone.

Sounds like OW has fucked up.

Iamnow · 08/02/2020 21:30

Have you googled the number?

Maybe she offers 'services'?

ThePawtriarchy · 08/02/2020 21:32

Is that what you would get with a blocked number?

Sunshineandalltherainbows · 08/02/2020 21:33

I had an old number of my sisters stored on my phone and I forgot to delete I added her new number with a nickname I accidentally called her old phone the other day and it went through to someone completely different. It could be something like that.

balanceact · 08/02/2020 21:34

My first thought too that she was trying to get hold of him and yes he was there when I rang back initially but claimed he had no idea who or what it was.
DH claimed no ideas about it was was all over me later on like he hadn’t been all week
A few minutes later when he was out of the room was when I called back again and got the message that the number was incorrect this time?
Can companies or websites do this Say if he had texted a chat room for example?

Maybe she removed the sim card?

Winterwoollies · 08/02/2020 21:41

She’s panicked and blocked your number. It’s really easy to do. That is quite shady though.

helterskelter3 · 08/02/2020 21:41

I once was texting my partner from my work phone and he’d recently got a new number. I thought I knew his new number and ended up texting a man that I was “in the car park, waiting outside for you.” This poor bloke’s girlfriend or wife saw the texts and kept texting me, asking why I was texting her husband/boyfriend like this. I kept saying I had no idea who he was and it was just an accident but she clearly didn’t believe me. I’ve often thought about it and hoped she believed him in the end...Anyway, it is probably completely innocent!

TwentyViginti · 08/02/2020 21:41

So was suddenly 'all over you' after this strange call? Hmmmm....my spidey senses would be up!

FlaskMaster · 08/02/2020 21:42

Ow made a "mistake". Possibly on purpose. Sorry op.

Winterwoollies · 08/02/2020 21:42

On iPhones you literally just press this and they can no longer make a call to you...

AliciaWhiskers · 08/02/2020 21:43

Give someone else her number to call and see what happens. If it connects then she has blocked just you.

Winterwoollies · 08/02/2020 21:43

Oh. I tried to attach a picture. It didn’t work.

Winterwoollies · 08/02/2020 21:43

Oh. It did. Sorry. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 08/02/2020 21:46

Id phone the number back from a different phone again and see what happens.

HollowTalk · 08/02/2020 21:46

The thing is that if she thought she'd got through to her partner (why would she think that on that number?) then she'd be asking who the hell you were. It's too much of a coincidence that her partner entered her home at the same point as she was misdialling his number.

Does he have form for bad behaviour?
